This the script for Winnie the Pooh Meets The Princess and the Frog

Down in New Orleans[edit | edit source]

(The movie begins with the star in the night sky. Down in New Orleans (Prologue) playing)

  • Female singing voice: The Evening Star is shining bright

So make a wish and hold on tight

There's magic in the air tonight

And anything can happen.

(We fade to Charlotte's house as we see the two children named, Charlotte La Bouff and Tiana, listening to Tiana's mom named, Eudora, telling a story about a princess kissing a frog)

  • Eudora: "Just at that moment, the ugly little frog looked up with his sad, round eyes and pleaded, "Oh, please, dear princess, only a kiss from you can break this terrible spell that was inflicted on me by a wicked witch!'"
  • Charlotte La Bouff: (whispering) Here comes my favorite part.
  • Marcel, Charlotte's pet cat: (meows)
  • Eudora: "And the beautiful princess was so moved by his desperate plea that she stooped down, picked up the slippery creature, leaned forward, raised him to her lips, and kissed that little frog!
  • Charlotte: Aww!
  • Tiana: (gagging)
  • Eudora: "Then, the frog was transformed into a handsome prince. They were married and lived happily ever after. The end."
  • Charlotte: (cheers)

(Charlotte falls down in excitement)

  • Charlotte: Read it again! Read it again!
  • Eudora: Sorry, Charlotte. It's time for us to be heading home. Say goodnight, Tiana.
  • Tiana: There is no way in this whole wide world, I will ever, ever, ever... I mean, never kiss a frog! Yuck!
  • Charlotte: Is that so?

(Charlotte puts a frog costume on her cat pretending for him to be a frog, urging Tiana to "kiss" him which she refuses.)

  • Charlotte: Well, here's your Prince Charming, Tia. Come on. Kiss him.
  • Tiana: No.
  • Charlotte: Kiss him!
  • Tiana: Stop it!
  • Charlotte: Kiss him, kiss him, kiss him!
  • Tiana: I won't, I won't, I won't!
  • Charlotte: I would do it I would kiss a frog. I would kiss a hundred frogs if I could marry a prince and be a princess.

(Charlotte kisses Marcel, causing him to launch up to the ceiling. Charlotte and Tiana start laughing.)

  • Eudora: You girls, stop tormenting that poor little kitty. Poor little thing.

(Eudora puts Marcel down as she takes off the frog costume. Marcel is walking desperately away. Charlotte's father, Eli La Bouff)

  • Eli La Bouff: Evening, Eudora!
  • Charlotte: Daddy, daddy! Look at my new dress! Isn't it pretty?
  • Eli La Bouff: Look at you. Why, I'd expect nothing less from the finest seamstress in New Orleans.
  • Charlotte: Ooh! I want that dress!
  • Eli La Bouff: Now, sugarplum...
  • Charlotte: I want that one! (pulls Eli's mustache) Please, please, please, please!
  • Eli La Bouff: Eudora, You suppose you could whip something up like that?
  • Eudora: Anything for my best customer.

(Charlotte cheers)

  • Eudora: Come along, Tiana. Your daddy should be home from work by now.
  • Eli La Bouff: All right now, Princess, you're getting that dress, but that's it. No more Mr. Pushover. Now, who wants the puppy?
  • Charlotte: I do! I do! He's so cute!

(Tiana and her mom enter the train. Then, Tiana saw the people outside from the window. Then, as the train stop, Tiana and her mom head home. Then, we cut to Tiana's house as we see Tiana cooking some Gumbo for her family)

  • James, Tiana's father: Hmm, Gumbo smells good, Tiana.
  • Tiana: I think it's done, daddy.
  • James: Yeah, are you sure?
  • Tiana: Mmm-hmm.
  • James: Absolutely positive?
  • Tiana: Yes.
  • James: Okay, I'm about to put this food in my...
  • Tiana: Wait!

(Tiana puts the spice on the food and taste-tested it.)

  • Tiana: Done.
  • James: Hmm.
  • Tiana: What?
  • James: Well, sweetheart, this is the best gumbo I've ever tasted! Come here. Eudora, our little girl's got a gift.
  • Eudora: Mmm-hmm. I could've told you that.
  • James: A gift this special has got to be shared!

(Tiana walks outside to meet the neighbors)

  • Tiana: Hey, everybody, I made gumbo!
  • Woman: Ooh, that smells good!
  • Man: I got some hushpuppies, Tiana! Here I come!

(We fade to the neighbors eating the gumbo Tiana made, then we fade to Tiana and her family in Tiana's room.)

  • James: You know the thing about good food? It brings folks together from all walks of life. It warms them right up and it puts little smiles on their faces. And when I open up my own restaurant, I tell you, people are going to line up for miles around just to get a taste of my food.
  • Tiana: Our food.
  • James: (laughs) That's right, baby. Our food.

(James writes the picture of the restuarant that says, "Tiana's Place." Then, Tiana hugs the picture, until she saw something.)

  • Tiana: Daddy! Look!
  • James: Where are you going?
  • Tiana: Charlotte's fairytale book said, "If you make a wish on the Evening Star, it's sure to come true."
  • Eudora: Well, you wish on that star, sweetheart.
  • James: Yes. You wish and you dream with all your little heart. But you remember, Tiana, that old star can only take you part of the way. You got to help it along with some hard work of your own, and then, yeah, you can do anything you set your mind to. Just promise your daddy one thing. That you'll never ever lose sight of what's really important. Okay?

(Tiana nods)

  • James: (kisses her)
  • Eudora: See you in the morning, babycakes. (kisses her)
  • James: Get some sleep.

(As Eudora and James leave the room, Tiana grabs her picture and walk to the window to see the Evening Star, to make a wish.)

  • Tiana: Please, please, please!

(Just then, the frog appears out of nowhere and stares at her.)

  • Frog: (croaks)
  • Tiana: (screams)

(Tiana closes the curtains as she walks out of the room. Eventually, the years just passed. Walt Disney Pictures logo appears and disappears. Tiana, who is now grown up, heads to her room, feeling tired.)

  • Tiana: Well, Miss Tiana, rough night for tips but every little penny counts.

(Tiana puts her pennies in her restaurant funds jar before closing the drawer. Then, she smiles at her picture of her father)

  • Tiana: Don’t you worry, daddy. (blows her kiss to her picture) We’ll be here soon.

(Tiana lays down on her bed and sleeps for a few seconds and the alarm clock turns on. Tiana then shuts the clock off with her foot. She is starting to get dressed.)

  • Tiana: Goodnight, Cal’s, good morning, Duke’s.

(Tiana gets on a bus to go to work as Down in New Orleans starts playing. Then, the title card appears for a few seconds and disappears.)

  • Dr. John: In the Southland there's a city

Way down on the river

Where the women are very pretty

And all the men deliver

They got music, it's always playin'

Start in the day time, go all through the night

When you hear that music playin'

Hear what I'm saying

(It) make you feel alright

Grab somebody, come on down

Bring your paintbrush, we're paintin' the town

There's some sweetness goin' 'round

Catch it down in New Orleans

We got magic, good and bad

Make you happy or make you real sad

Get everything you want, lose what you had

Down here in New Orleans

Hey partner

Don't be shy

Come on down here and give us a try

You wanna do some living before you die

Do it down in New Orleans

Stately homes and mansions

Of the Sugar Barons and the Cotton Kings

Rich people, poor people, all got dreams

Dreams do come true in New Orleans

In the Southland there's a city

Way down on the river

Where the women are very pretty

And all the men deliver

They got music, it's always playin'

Start in the day time, go all through the night

When you hear that music playin'

Hear what I'm saying

Make you feel alright

Grab somebody, come on down

Bring your paintbrush, we're paintin' the town

There's some sweetness goin' around

Dreams do come true in New Orleans

(The song ends as Winnie the Pooh, Ash Ketchum, and their friends arrives in New Orleans)
