The Mane Event/Transcript

(Knocking on the door was heard.)

Girls: Come in.

Misty: Hi, girls, what's going on?

Pikachu: Pika.

Bubbles: We're giving Blossom a nice hair do.

Misty: Wow, that's what my three older sisters do.

Buttercup: Yeah, all she needs is a couple of barrettes. And, some of this for hold. (sprays hair spray which caused Blossom to cough) And there you have a racetrack with hair pin turns.

Ash Ketchum: Wow, looks cool. What do you think, Bubbles?

Bubbles: That's stupid!

Buttercup: Oh, but Fluffy the hair bunny looks cool?

Bubbles: Yes, Blossom likes Fluffy, don't you, Blossom?

Blossom: CUT IT OUT!!! (Bubbles and Buttercup are stunned)

Ash Ketchum: (shocked) Geez....

Blossom: And give me a real hairdo.

Bubbles: (combing Blossom's hair) Sure, sure. Just gotta comb out a few tangles.

Buttercup: And get rid of a couple of knots.

(She pulls harder and harder at a matted strand. Suddenly a flash of light fills the screen, and a loud ripping sound is heard. She finds herself staring at a large handful of red-orange hair. Bubbles floats into view next to her; both look very worried. The camera turns around, and we see the source of their anxiety: a large bald patch at the back of Blossom’s head. Zoom in on this briefly, then back to the other two. Buttercup drops the hair.)

Bubbles, Buttercup: (clapping hands to mouths) Oh!

(They look at each other. The camera turns around again.)

Blossom: What’s going on back there? (Buttercup appears with scissors.)

Buttercup: Oh—nothing. (Bubbles appears with scissors.)

Bubbles: Uh—just gotta trim a few split ends. (She giggles nervously.)

(The two of them go to work; scraps of hair fly everywhere and collect on the floor by the bed. When they finish, close-up of them, hands to chins in nervous thought. Long silence as they turn their eyes to each other. The buzzing of the hotline breaks their pensive mood. Close-up of it.)

Blossom: I got it. Yes, Mayor? Whoa, no way! Right, we're on it! Girls, trouble! Move out!

(Bubbles and Buttercup stifle their laughing upon looking at her bad haircut which annoys her.)

Blossom: What? (Bubbles and Buttercup shake their heads in response) Whatever. Sometimes you guys are so weird.

(Blossom flies out then Bubbles and Buttercup laugh out loud. But the heroes felt deeply concerned for Blossom.)

Narrator: (trying not to laugh) Go, girls, go! (laughing)

(Bubbles and Buttercup with the heroes fly to catch up with Blossom.)

Blossom: I'm going to teach you a lesson, evil eyes! So, you think you could just ruin the town and start vaporizing everything in sight?! Well, look here, buddy, you can't! (echoing) this is a happy people place! And folks here don't take kindly to this type of behavior! Now, I'm gonna give you a chance to stop this sensible destruction once and for all! So, champ, what's it gonna be?

(The monster begins to laugh.)

Blossom: What?

(The citizens also laugh.)

Blossom: What?

(Bubbles and Buttercup laugh but the heroes aren't happy with them laughing at Blossom.)

Blossom: What's so funny?

Bubbles and Buttercup: You!

Blossom: Me? What's so funny about-(gasps, upon seeing her reflection and she screams about her bad haircut as she flys off in embarrassment)
