The Irelanders' Super Adventures of Thomas & Friends: Digs and Discoveries/Transcript
This is the script for The Irelanders' Super Adventures of Thomas & Friends: Digs and Discoveries.
[The film begins with a view of Italy from space as the tile "The Irelanders' Super Adventures of Thomas and Friends: Digs and Discoveries" comes up. We then pan down into Italy itself where Thomas, the Irelanders and Gina are heading down the tracks side by side. Thomas is pulling coaches while Gina is pulling trucks]
Thomas: (narrating) My friends the Irelanders and I had an exciting new job working in Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino's home country of Italy and, as they and our new friend Gina like to say...
Gina, Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino: (while Guido speaks in Italian) Italy is bellissima/bellissimo!
Thomas: (narrating) Bellissima and bellissimo both mean beautiful. And Gina, Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Toplino and Mama Topolino are right - Italy certainly is beautiful!
[We cut to a mountain and a beach]
Thomas: (narrating) There are magnificent mountains, beautiful beaches and so many old and unusual buildings!
Woody: Holy cow!
[We view them puffing past the Leaning Tower of Pisa]
Thomas: (narrating) Like this funny tower!
Gina: This is the famous Learning Tower of Pisa.
Thomas: (gasps and starts to lean on his side a bit too far)
Connor Lacey: (presses his Ultimatrix, turns into Four Arms and pushes him back up right) Whoa-whoa-whoa, easy there!
Thomas: Whoa! Ha-ha-ha! Thanks, Connor.
Connor Lacey: (turning back to normal) Anytime.
[Thomas speeds up to catch up with Gina. They then pass through Rome]
Gina: And here we are in Rome, guys! Our capital city. The jewel in our crown. Some say all tracks lead to Rome.
Twilight Sparkle: That's quite interesting, Gina.
Francesco Bernoulli: And you'll-a see many-a more interesting things-a in Italy very-a soon, Twilight-a Sparkle.
[They pass by the Colosseum]
Thomas: Err... what are they building there?
Gina: Building? (scoffs) They're not building anything. You have a lot to learn.
Luigi: That-a is the Colosseum-a. It was-a built over a thousand-a years ago.
Guido: (speaking Italian)
Uncle Topolino: If you're wondering what Guido is saying, he's saying that great emperors would hold races there in front of cheering crowds.
Connor Lacey: We've been here a few times during when we're in the computer game with Scooby and his friends and when we're with Alex and his friends with the circus animals.
Dusty Crophopper: Yeah, boy those sure were some adventures we had.
Aviva Corcovado: Couldn't agree more, Dusty.
Mama Topolino: But they didn't use race cars or racing planes back then. The racers would race in those Roman Chariots.
Thomas: Wow!
Gina: Just imagine that, Thomas!
[Thomas blows up steam, starting a fantasy sequence. In the fantasy, Thomas, dressed a chariot and wearing a gladiator helmet, is pulled by two horses into an arena. He pulls up next to Gina, also dressed like a chariot and wearing a gladiator helmet. The Fat Controller appears dressed as a Roman Emperor and gives the signal to start the race as Gina and Thomas race around the arena, Thomas temporarily gaining the lead]
The Fat Controller: Go, Thomas, go! Go, Thomas, go! Go, Thomas! Go, Thomas! Go, Thomas! Uh-oh, erm, I mean... err... bravo, Thomas. Bravo.
[The race continues as Gina and Thomas battle for the lead. Gina eventually gets ahead of Thomas]
Thomas: Whoo-hoo!
[He speeds up and lightly nudges Gina, slowing her down, taking the lead and winning]
Thomas: Yee-haw! Thomas the Chariot wins again!
Gina: (echoing) Thomas? Thomas?
[The fantasy ends as we cut back to reality where Thomas is overshooting the platform as Gina and the Irelanders stop]
Gina: [whistles] Thomas! Your passengers!
[Thomas slams on his brakes and reverses back to the platform]
Thomas: Whoops! Sorry! (chuckles nervously)
[Thomas stops at the platform and the passengers disembark from the coaches, chattering in Italian. Thomas then notices some workmen with wheelbarrows and broken statues pieces and looks worried]
Thomas: Oh, no! Those statues you were carrying, they must have broken during the journey!
Gina: Oh, you are sweet, Thomas, not know these things. These are ancient archaeological discoveries for the museum.
Varian: Wow. That's incredible, Gina. All of those statues must be from a long time ago.
Sunset Shimmer: Yeah. Guess she had to carry them in small pieces since they've become fragile over time.
Bob Parr/Mr Incredible: Yep. Sounds about right.
Thomas: I'm not sweet! And I know all about ancient archi... arky... archi.
Gina: (giggles) Archaeology.
Heidi: Perhaps I can explain, Thomas. It's when experts dig up objects and buildings from the past to learn about Italy's history. Clara taught me that.
Clara: Exactly. In Italy, they have discovered some amazing ancient art and buildings, isn't that right, Gina?
Gina: Yes, Clara.
Pablo: Wow. That is so cool.
Maisie Lockwood: You sure are an expert in this sort of thing, Gina. I'll give you that.
Francesco Bernoulli: Yes-a. All Italian-a people are-a considered experts.
Thomas: But Francesco, you, the others and I have seen lots of amazing buildings in our time! The Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower... err... even Vicarstown Station is bellissima or bellissimo, whichever way you put it, so we're a bit of experts ourselves. And, well, some of your art and buildings are look very unfinished.
Gina: They are not unfinished, Thomas. They're just very, very old and damaged. Hmph.
Flik: [whispering to the others so Gina won't hear] She's got a bit of a temper, don't you think?
Iago: (whispering) A bit like Kiera's, which is why she was nicknamed Angry.
Kiera: (whispering) I can hear you.
Iago: (whispering) Well, it's true.
Mia: (walking over to the group) Ah, Gina, I've got a very important job for you to do.
Thomas: What, important job? What is it?
Gina: Thomas, Irelanders, meet Mia from the museum of archaeology. Mia, Thomas and his friends are experts in art, history, archaeology and know about absolutely everything.
Mia: Well, I'm regarded as an expert, but I don't know everything. There are always new things to learn. Don't you think so, guys?
Dora: That's right, Mia. And we're learning new things almost each and every day, right, guys?
Capper: Yeah, you could say we're adventure experts ourselves.
Thomas: Capper's right. That's true, I guess.
[Thomas hears his guard's whistle and he and the Irelanders set off]
Thomas: Nice to meet you, Mia!
Connor Lacey: See you later, Gina!
[The scene changes to the countryside where a butterfly is sitting on a flower as Thomas and the Irelanders pass by]
Thomas: (narrating) Mia was right. There was so much to learn!
[They arrive at a station]
Thomas: (narrating) And the more the Irelanders and I worked, the more we learned.
Stationmaster: Ciao, Thomas, Irelanders!
Thomas: Hello to you, too!
Chug: Wow, great translation there.
Thomas: Thanks.
[The passengers get out of the coaches]
Passengers: Grazie, Thomas and Irelanders!
Thomas: Thank you! Grazie, grazie! Thanks!
[Thomas whistles and he and the Irelanders set off again]
Thomas: See ya!
Stationmaster: Ciao, Thomas! Ciao, Irelanders!
[Thomas stops and is confused]
Thomas: Huh? I though 'ciao' meant hello?
Stationmaster: In Italy, Ciao means hello and goodbye, Thomas. Ciao!
Thomas: Oh! Got it! Ciao! [puffs off after the Irelanders]
Thomas: (narrating) We were beginning to feel like real experts.
Spike: Well, we've made great progress, reuniting with engines from the Great Railway Show so far like Yong Bao, Carlos, Ashima, Rajiv, Shane and Raul from China, Mexico India, Australia and Brazil. Are there any more engines we have yet to see again?
Koki: Well, there's Frieda, Ivan, Etienne and Axel from countries, Germany, Russia, France and Belgium, Spike.
Captain Jake: Yeah. Who knows what they've been up to since the Great Railway Show ended.
Melody: And hopefully we don't run into Vinnie from North America. He's such a big bully.
Ron Stoppable: Tell me about it.
Iago: Ah, at least we're in Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino's home country where Gina lives and don't have to worry about Vinnie coming after us anytime soon. Which I hope.
Catalina: Yeah.
Beshte: I wonder what kind of animals live in Italy.
Chris Kratt: Well, Beshte, animals like the Italian wolf who hunts in packs like most wolves do.
Martin Kratt: And the Marsican brown bear also known as the "Apennine brown bear", and in Italian and orso bruno marsicano.
Aviva Corcovado: Don't forget the Spectacled salamander too.
Koki: There are plenty of animals here in Italy for more creature powers.
Chris Kratt: And we'II get to that during our time here in Italy.
Jimmy Z: [seeing something] Hey, guys, look. There's Gina again.
Thomas: You're right, Jay-Z. But why has she stopped down there?
Gypsy: Maybe she's taking a break. You know, resting her wheels for a few minutes or so?
Rex: Yeah, you're probably right. I mean, she does look like she's relaxing.
[But then a horrible thought strikes Thomas]
Thomas: [gasps] She must've broken down!
Jiminy Cricket: Whoa-whoa-whoa, hold on now! Let's not jump to conclusions here!
Thomas: But she's stranded, Jiminy! We have to help her! [speeds up] Hang on tight, everyone!
Irelanders: Whoa!
Thomas: Hold on, Gina! We're coming to help!
[Thomas whizzes down the slope to where Gina is]
Thomas: Gina!
Gina: (gasps)
Thomas: Don't worry, Gina, we're... [construction works look at him] ah. Err... huh. This is your important job? Collecting rubble?
Gina: Humph. It's not rubble, Thomas.
Bunga: Uh, they look like rubble to us.
Jessie: And who's the excavator with the shovel on her front?
Ester: So you're Thomas and the Irelanders? Ciao! Gina has told me all about you lot. I'm Ester. Welcome to my construction site!
[She gestures to the heaps of dirt behind her]
Thomas: Construction site? The construction sites me and the Irelanders have been to are much busier.
Lance Strongbow: Yeah, Thomas is right. This should have more vehicles and I don't see any building going on.
Gina: Oh, here we go.
Thomas: With more vehicles and things being... constructed. This just looks like you're digging a hole.
Ester: (chuckles) I am digging a hole! We're getting ready for a new museum to be built, but the build has slowed down because of the archaeology.
Gina: Oh, Thomas and the Irelanders understand all about that!
Thomas: Yes, yes! Archeo... archig... acky...
Gina: Archaeology. [chuckles] Thomas and the Irelanders are experts.
Dora: Hey, look!
[An archaeologist holds up a bunch of coins and blows the dust off them which Thomas notices]
Thomas: [gasps] Wow! Treasure! Are those gold? Is there anything else down there? There might be a pirate ship! Guys, help them dig faster and see what else you can find!
Ester: (chuckles) You sound like the Lost Engine!
Gina: (chuckles with her) They do! Don't they, Ester?
Irelanders: Huh?
Thomas: Ooh. What lost engine?
Gina: Not now, Thomas and anyway, you and the Irelanders are in the way.
Mushu: Oh, come on. Tell us the tale.
Gina: Mushu, don't Thomas' passengers have somewhere to be?
[The passengers look angrily out of the windows]
Thomas: Oh? Whoops! Sorry, we were just taking a little detour to see the archi... err...archel... err, just a little detour!
June: Oh, please, Gina, what's the lost engine?
Mama Topolino: Oh, here we go again.
Gina: (sighs) It's just a silly story about a curious engine, who, a bit like someone else I know, kept turning up where he wasn't supposed to be.
Uncle Topolino: When we were young, Mama Topolino and I heard many people talking about it. But we thought it was just rumors so we forgot about it and moved on.
Aisling: But I don't get it. I thought Lady was the only Lost Engine.
Connor Lacey: So, how come there's another one?
Twilight Sparkle: I'm not sure but like Uncle Topolino said, it's probably just a bunch of crazy rumors.
Gina: [watching Thomas reverse back up the slope, backwards] Thomas, why are you going the wrong way?
Thomas: I know what I'm doing, Gina!
Gina: This track twists when you least expect it!
Thomas: The Irelanders and I have been on twisting tracks before! Whoa! These twisty tracks are like spaghetti!
Elsa: Yeah, tell me about it.
[Gina puffs up the slope and away from the construction site. Thomas and Irelanders catch up to her]
Gina: Ugh! You're still on the wrong track!
Thomas: No wonder the Lost Engine got lost with all these twisty tracks! This railway is silly!
Gina: Huh! Thomas, you're being silly!
Thomas: (offended gasp) I'm not silly! You are!
Gina: What?! Humph!
Thomas: You're... you're huffing and puffing and...
Gina: I do not huff and puff! Humph! You think you and your friends are experts, but you're not and if you're not careful, you'll be the Lost Engine and I won't come to find you!
[Gina whistles and puffs away from Thomas and the Irelanders who puff off down another track. Later, they pull into a station where Mia is waiting]
Mia: Hello again, Thomas and Irelanders! I'm looking for Gina, have any of you seen her?
Thorn: Not really, Mia. Why do you ask?
Mia: Stefano is bringing new treasures back from an archaeological dig on one of the Italian islands. I need Gina to pick them up.
Thomas: We can go and collect them for you!
Irelanders: What?!
Maisie Lockwood: Are you crazy? We don't even know our way around Italy.
Mia: She does have a point, Thomas. The route to the coast is steep and twisty and... you're new to the railway.
Francesco Bernoulli: Important tasks-a like these are-a best left to-a Italian experts-a like me.
Lightning McQueen: (scoffs) Only a expert in racing.
Francesco Bernoulli: It's-a true though. Thomas-a doesn't know-a the first thing-a about Italy-a like some-a of us.
Violet Parr: Guys, now's not the time to be expressing your rivalry. (to Thomas) Thomas, look, I know you've been on twisty tracks before, but are you sure you're up to it?
Thomas: Of course, Violet. (to Mia) Oh! Don't worry! We know all about the twisty tracks!
Mia: Really? Well... if you're sure. Okay.
Thomas: How hard can it be?
[Thomas whistles and he and the Irelanders set off]
Mia: Be careful!
[The scene changes to a cliff with a lighthouse on top of it as Thomas and the Irelanders make their way down it]
Thomas: Uh-oh! Twisty tracks.
[Thomas dislodges some pebbles on the way down]
Thomas: Gotta be careful.
Catalina: That's it, Thomas. Remember Mia's advice and the more of an expert you'll be.
Spike: Uh, don't you think it'II make Thomas get overconfident?
Catalina: Not if he keeps following advice, he won't.
Blade Ranger: Let's hope so because as I said about overconfident, it's the kind of attitude that can get you killed as part of training fire fighting lessons back at Piston Peak.
Dusty Crophopper: Yeah, thanks for the reminder.
[Thomas puffs down the slope carefully, tilting into the bends as he goes]
Thomas: Wooo! Whoo-hoo! Ha-ah! Whoo-hoo! That was awesome! See, guys? I knew we could handle those twisty tracks.
Capper: Only because you remembered Mia's advice.
Korra: Well, at least we got here without any accidents so far.
Thomas: Oh, where is everyone? And where's this Stefano?
Discord: Odd. We're supposed to meet Stefano here but there is no Stefano. (his eyes stretch out of their sockets to the ground, looking)
Varian: Okay, Discord, that's a little squeamish.
Discord: That's part of being all chaotic and well, me.
Varian: Alright, I get your point.
Kim Possible: [seeing a boat in the distance] Hold on. Look out there.
[They look to see a boat heading toward them]
Thomas: Oh. What's that boat doing? It's headed this way.
Ono: (seeing that the boat is not stopping and gasps) Hapana! It's not stopping!
Thomas: Oh, no! (whistles) It's going to crash onto the beach!
Jack Skellington: We've got to get it to change direction!
Zero: (barking)
Aviva Corcovado: Hey, you out there! Watch where you're going!
Thomas: She's right! (as Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino roll their eyes) Turn around!
[But to their surprise, the boat seems to rise out of the water, revealing large caterpillar tracks and wheels as it rolls onto the beach beside them and stops]
Stefano: (laughs) My legendary beach landing gets them every time! Need a moment to take it in?
[The Irelanders look up at him in surprise]
Thomas: Wow!
Discord: OK, this isn't what I was excepting but OK.
Stefano: Ciao!
Thomas: Goodbye! I mean... hel... hello! I mean...
Stefano: I know what you're thinking. Fantastico, yes? I'm amphibious which means I travel on water and land, like an alligator! [moves his crane like an alligator snapping] Snap! Snap! (chuckles) Oh, it gets better. Check this out. Behold the latest treasure from the dig! [opens his large storage compartment door while chuckling]
Thomas: (gasps) You mean, you're Stefano?
Stefano: That's right. Luigi! Guido! Francesco! Uncle Topolino! Mama Topolino! Good to see you again! And who are your friends? Where's Gina?
Thomas: I dunno. I mean... I'm Thomas and these are the Irelanders. Mia sent us to collect the treasures instead.
Connor Lacey: And we're very pleased to meet you, Stefano.
Stefano: It's nice to meet you and Thomas too, Irelanders.
Varian: Magnificent. A mode of transport that can go on land and water. Genius.
Captain Jake: Not to mention that door on your front.
Izzy: Wait, are those trucks I see in there?
[And as if on cue, two trucks roll out of Stefano, honking and drive away carrying dirt much to their confusion]
Russel Ferguson: That's it? They're carrying more rubble?
Stefano: Ah, things aren't always what they seem, Russell. It may look like rubble to you, but to an expert it could hold clues to find lost treasures. But don't worry about that. [moving his crane arm to two crates on his deck] This is for you all.
[Stefano lowers the first crate onto Thomas' first flatbed and does the same with the second crate and flatbed]
Thomas: Oooh, is that the treasure?
Fuli: What's in it?
Dot: Can we see?
Buzz: Is it very old?
Iago: Ooh, I bet it's gold.
Stefano: (chuckles) You're all curious, aren't you? Careful though, you don't want to end up like the Lost Engine. (chuckles)
Thomas: (gasps) You know about the Lost Engine?
Uncle Topolino: Oh, here we go again.
Stefano: Everyone knows about the Lost Engine! He was a curious soul like all of you, with a cheery coach. Some say, 'all tracks lead to Rome' but the Lost Engine believed all tracks lead to treasure.
Irelanders: Whoa.
Thomas: Wow!
[A stained glass window-like flashback plays of the Lost Engine and his coach taking different tracks through a countryside, forest, trench, a column and eventually vanishing into a tunnel]
Stefano: Instead of doing his proper jobs, the Lost Engine was always taking detours and following his curiosity to explore places he wasn't supposed to go and where it wasn't always safe. He didn't always know what he was doing or where he was going and one day, he just disappeared and nobody ever saw him again.
[The flashback ends]
Thomas: So, you mean he's still lost?
Uncle Topolino: That's how the story goes.
Heidi: But hasn't anyone tried to look for him?
Stefano: Not that I know of. Maybe he set sail to find treasure somewhere else? Nobody knows!
Luigi: But then-a again, it's-a just a story.
Mewtwo: Perhaps, Luigi. But it's a mystery worth solving.
Rarity: Anyway, we'd better hurry and get these trucks back to Mia now.
Stefano: She's right. [reversing back into the water] And I better be going, too. Ciao, Thomas and Irelanders! Nice meeting you all!
[Stefano reverses back the way he came]
Thomas: You too, Stefano! Ciao!
Irelanders: Ciao!
[Thomas and the Irelanders set off. Later]
Thomas: That Stefano was amazing! And what a great story!
Cassandra: Yeah. He spoke so wisely too.
Jiminy Cricket: But I thought Uncle Topolino said it was just crazy speculation.
Starlight Glimmer: Yeah, it's really turning out to be a real mind boggler.
Connor Lacey: It would be interesting to see if the story is true or not.
Thomas: Oh, I'd hate to be the Lost Engine. But Connor's right. What if it's not just a story and he's still out there somewhere? Lost and alone with no-one coming to find him.
Maisie Lockwood: Yeah. It's a real mystery.
[Thomas and the Irelanders stop when they finally take notice of their surroundings]
Thomas: Oh. Where are we?
Leo: How should we know?
Trixie: All the plants and trees here look exactly the same.
Thomas: [realizing something] Oh, no. Not again! We went the wrong way! We should've gone back up the steep twisty tracks!
Dash Parr: Darn it! Now what do we do?
Twilight Sparkle: Though I am usually a know-it-all, Dash, even I'm not sure how to answer that.
Flaps: What are we gonna do?
Buzzie: Don't start that again.
Alicia: Guys, now's not the time to be arguing!
Diego: The best way to solve a problem is to be calm.
Cruz Ramirez: If we ever figure out where we are that is.
Thomas: (sighs) Gina was right. I am going to be the Lost Engine.
Connor Lacey: Thomas, you shouldn't let what Gina says get to you. She's only trying to help you learn your way around.
Francesco Bernoulli: See? I-a told you-a that this-a was a job-a for an-a Italian expert-a like myself-a.
Iago: Yeah, how will we ever get back to the museum if we don't know which way to go back?
Sci-Twi: [remembering something] Wait, didn't Gina also say, 'all tracks lead to Rome!'?
Aisling: Yeah. Well remembered, Sci-Twi.
Thomas: Yes, that's right. So, maybe, we'll still get back to the museum anyway!
Good Fairy: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get going!
[They head on. Meanwhile, Gina arrives at the station where Mia is, waiting for Thomas and the Irelanders to return with a worried look on her face]
Mia: Have you seen Thomas and the Irelanders, Gina? They went to meet Stefano, but they should've been back by now.
Gina: Thomas and the Irelanders went down to the beach? Oh, dear. Thomas and the Irelanders don't know those tracks at all and they can be dangerous.
[She heads off. With Thomas and the Irelanders]
Thomas: (sighs) This track is going on forever! Oh, we need to get this cargo back to the museum before they realize we went the wrong way!
Rocket Raccoon: Boy, this is getting more and more confusing.
Marinette/Ladybug: Ugh, this is getting us nowhere!
Adrien/Cat Noir: How much longer?
[Thomas stops when he sees a sign and reverses back to see what it shows a M with a roof and white line above and underneath it]
Thomas: The museum sign! Ah-ha! I knew we weren't lost!
Fuli: Uh, Thomas, I'm not sure if that's where the museum is.
Jimmy Z: Yeah. That track doesn't look like it's been used in years.
Thomas: Oh, I know that. But still, it's best to double check to be sure.
Annie: Well, if you're sure.
[They head down the track passing a fallen caution sign on the way. Gina makes her way across the shoreline]
Gina: Oh, Thomas, Irelanders, where are you?
[She continues on her way. With Thomas and the Irelanders, they puff the track looking anxiously at their surroundings. Thomas stops suddenly as he knocks a branch aside]
Thomas: Oh... Oh, this doesn't feel good.
Varian: Well, I hope we're not lost. This place is so creepy down here.
[He look around nervously]
Kiera: Relax, V. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.
Ron Stoppable: [to Thomas] Okay, which way now, Mr. Expert?
Thomas: Hmmm. I guess [looking at the track ahead] this must be the way.
Asmai: But, Thomas, we don't even know what lies down that way.
Thomas: Well, we'll never know if we don't go down there and check it out.
Applejack: There's no way you're goin' down that line alone, Thommy. We're sticking to you like caramel on a candy apple.
Mane 6: Yeah!
Pinkie Pie: Especially if there's candy apples down that line.
Tip: Huh?
Pinkie Pie: What? Those things are good.
Dash: Yeah, but it's weird the way you put it.
Razer: Let's just get going. The more time we waste sitting here, the less time we have to get the job done.
Thomas: (gulps) Here goes.
[They set off down the track into a tunnel. They puff along for a few minutes before slowing to a stop]
Thomas: Hello?
[They stare down the tunnel as Thomas' shouting echoes back to them]
Thomas: Oh, there's someone there!
Izzy: [gasps] Do you think it could be the Lost Engine?
Kion: Only one way to find out. Call again, Thomas.
Thomas: Hello? Are you lost?
[The shouting echoes again]
Thomas: (gasps) The Lost Engine!
Aviva Corcovado: Uh, Thomas, I don't think that...
Thomas: [setting off down the mine, cutting her off] Hold on! We're coming to help!
[They move on as the shouting echoes back to them, looking around. Just then, however, Thomas stops suddenly and they look to see the track is a dead end over a pile of rubble]
Shimmer: That was a close one. Are you okay, Thomas?
Thomas: [whimpers] I'm fine, Shimmer. It's a good thing I stopped when I did. [to "The Lost Engine"] I'm sorry, Lost Engine, but we need to go back! We'll get help and come back! Come on, guys!
Shine: But, Thomas, there's no-one there!
[The shouting echoes again as they leave. Outside, Gina hears Thomas whistling and stops]
Gina: [gasps] Thomas! Irelanders! Is that you? Surely they didn't go down there!
[She puffs off down the track into the trees. At the same time, Thomas and the Irelanders come out of the mine backwards and Gina sees them coming]
Gina: Guys!
Thomas: Gina!
Irelanders: (gasp)
[Thomas slams on his brakes and Gina barely manages to stop. However, Thomas is unable and biffs into her, knocking her off the tracks. This causes rocks to start falling from the cliff above them]
Gina: Oh! Argh! Thomas, you've knocked me off the track! My regulator has jammed! You need to get us back on the main track!
Thomas: Oh, I am so sorry! We didn't see you behind us, we...
Gina: What are you all doing down here anyway? This track is supposed to be closed. The old mine isn't safe.
Princess Atta: Well, a certain someone decided to take a little detour, for the second time in a row!
Heidi: So that M means the mine instead of the museum. That fooled us.
Thomas: We realize that now, Gina. But what about the Lost Engine?
Gina: I can't believe you're talking about the Lost Engine now, Thomas!
Thomas: But we heard him! In that tunnel! [pulling Gina back onto the tracks] He's trapped!
Mewtwo: Well, right now, we need to get out of here before we become trapped as well!
Apple White: [gasps] Watch out!
[More rocks fall blocking the track. Thomas tries to reverse and push Gina the other way but a large rock falls and shatters blocking the way back]
Gina: Guys, stop! The path is blocked! We have to go forward!
Thomas: Okay! I'm going!
[Thomas heads forward as another large rocks falls and shatters next to the track. Thomas spots a fallen sign next to some points]
Thomas: Look! There's the museum sign! [stops and his driver gets out to switch the points. He then sees rocks falling faster] Come on! Come on! Hurry up! Hurry up!
Connor Lacey: [gasps seeing a giant boulder falling towards Gina] Gina! Look out!
Gina: (screams)
[However, just before the boulder hits her, Thomas pulls her out of the way just in time. They race on through the cliffs dodging falling rocks. Thomas smashes through one and they race on until they race out into the open and to safety]
Buzz: Did everyone make it?!
Slim: Let's see. [counts his fingers] Thomas, Gina, Connor, Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Spike, Flik, Atta, Dot, me, Francis, Heimlich... Oh, shoot! I'm out of fingers!
Cruz Ramirez: Tuck! Where's Tuck?!
Roll: (speaking Hungarian in panic)
Chris Kratt: We must've accidentally dropped him back there somewhere!
Clara: Oh, I hope he's okay!
Iago: Perhaps we could get out of here before we get hit by rocks here!
Buzz: I'm going back to look for him! You guys wait here! [runs off]
Everyone: Buzz!
[Buzz disappears]
Thomas: (laughs) Yes! We made it! Whoo-hoo! (sighs in relief) You're safe now, Gina! We rescued you! (notices Buzz and Tuck aren't there) Wait. Where are Buzz and Tuck?
Woody: We accidentally dropped Tuck somewhere in that ravine and Buzz went back to find him.
Thomas: (gasps) Is he crazy?! The rocks will flatten him!
Helen Parr/Elastigirl: Thomas, cool it! I'm sure Buzz knows what he's doing!
Lance Strongbow: Yeah. Let's just relax. I'm sure Buzz and Tuck will be back in no time.
Gina: [growls in frustration] What?! I only needed to be rescued because you got yourself and the Irelanders lost in the first place! Humph!
Cassandra: [seeing something] Hey! Look! I see Buzz and he's got Tuck!
[Buzz appears jumping out from behind a fallen rock with Tuck in his hands. Tuck has got his eyes closed and is shivering in fear]
Buzz: He's a little shaken up but he'll be okay.
Tuck: (whimpering)
Fluttershy: Tuck, you can stop shivering. You're safe. Buzz rescued you.
[Tuck opens his eyes and smiles in relief. Buzz puts him on Thomas' boiler next to Roll, who is happy to see his brother is okay]
Roll: Tuck!
Tuck: Roll!
[They hug]
Irelanders: Aww.
Fluttershy: They're so cute when they hug like that.
Thomas: Well, we weren't the only ones lost.
Gina: Ahem! I wasn't lost.
Thomas: Ugh, not you - the Lost Engine! I told you, we heard him calling 'Help! Help! Help!'.
Gina: Oh, Thomas, that wasn't the Lost Engine. It couldn't be!
Thomas: But I'm sure we heard him!
Rex: Yeah! And we left him behind!
Gina: That's just a story, Rex! What you all heard must've been Thomas' echo!
Thomas: Huh? Really? My echo? Oh... silly me. [whistles and they set off]
Koki: 'Silly me.' is right! You almost got us killed back there!
Mako: Yeah! It was your curiosity that got us into that mess in the first place!
Heidi: Well, we all can't help being curious about things from time to time.
Twilight Sparkle: Even so, what Thomas did was reckless and dangerous! So much for him being a expert!
[Later, as the sun starts to set]
Thomas: I'm really sorry I led us into the old mine and all that trouble, guys. I guess... I'm not an expert after all. Are you upset with me?
Gina: Well, maybe we are a little bit. But we'll get over it.
Maisie Lockwood: Yeah, besides, we can't stay mad at you forever, Thomas.
Bunga: Yeah, Hakuna matata. It was a wild ride.
Connor Lacey: Tell me about it. Then again some stories we've learned about on our adventures turn out to be true so The Lost Engine story could be true too if given the chance.
Sunset Shimmer: Yeah but until then it'll just have to remain a mystery.
Star Swirl the Bearded: Right now, we still have to deliver the cargo to the museum.
Thomas: That's good. Ha. Erm... you did come looking for us, Gina. You must like me really, even if I do make you huff and puff a lot!
Gina: Thomas! I've told you before - I do not huff and puff! Hmph.
Kiera: [sighs] There she goes again with the temper. Guess she is kinda like me.
[They enter the construction site as silence falls for a moment]
Thomas: [realizing something] Oh, Gina, making new friends is a bit like your... archaeology.
Gina: [brightening up a bit] How so, Thomas?
Thomas: It can take a long time, but it's worth it in the end, right?
Gina: Whatever you say, Thomas - you're the expert!
Boots: Oh, ha-ha. Very funny, Gina.
Everyone: [giggling]
[The screen goes black for a split second before cutting to Rome in daytime. Thomas, Gina and the Irelanders head through it again]
Thomas: (narrating) The Irelanders and I were feeling really at home in Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino's home country of Italy, but there were still things we found new and confusing.
[Thomas looks confused as they pass the Leaning Tower again]
Thomas (narrating) Luckily, we could always ask them and our new friend, Gina.
Thomas: But I still don't understand why it's wonky and what's holding it up, Francesco?
[The scene changes to them passing a station where three girls are playing with a skipping rope and counting in Italian]
Girls: Une, due, tre, quarto...
Connor Lacey: What are they saying, Guido?
[Later at the construction site]
Thomas: Why are these tracks as twisty as spaghetti, Uncle Topolino?
Uncle Topolino: Oh, Thomas!
Thomas: Sorry. Too many questions?
Gina: No, we like your curiosity, Thomas...
Thomas: [seeing a rock nearby] Oh! What's going on over there?
[He speeds up to check it out and men shout at him in Italian to stop]
Pepper Clark: Thommy, now hold on! We wouldn't go over there if we were you!
Man: (shouting in Italian) Dynamite!
Thomas: (as a trail of wire is lit and heads for the rock) Dynamite?
[The rock explodes sending dust everywhere]
Gina and Irelanders: Thomas!
[They shut their eyes as the dust covers them. Once it clears, Thomas coughs and reverses back to them]
Thomas: Sorry.
Gina: You need to be careful.
Mama Topolino: She's right. Curiosity can get you into trouble too, you know.
Lance Strongbow: At least you're okay, that's what matters.
[Thomas blows his whistle in response]
Ester: Thomas! Gina! Irelanders! You won't believe it! I was digging the foundations for the new museum and I discovered something nobody realized was here!
Thomas: (gasps) The Lost Engine?
Luigi: Oh, Thomas-a, that's-a just a story!
Ester: No, Luigi, it's something really big! A whole ancient Roman palace!
[She gestures the half broken brick wall behind her]
Thomas and Gina: Wow!
Irelanders: Whoa!
Thomas: Wait. Err... that's just a column.
Kiera: That's not much exciting to me.
Ester: That column's just a teeny bit of it, Kiera. The rest is underground, waiting to be dug up.
Rainbow Dash: Uh, I don't get it. Why did the ancient Romans build palaces underground?
Francesco Bernoulli: They-a didn't. The palace-a only ended-a up underground-a over thousands-a of years. You-a see, when-a it was-a first built-a, it would've-a been standing-a right in-a front of-a us, on top-a of the-a ground.
Connor Lacey: Francesco's right. As time progressed, it became buried in the soil.
Twilight Sparkle: It could be caused by a earthquake or something.
Bob Parr/Mr Incredible: Either way, it's still amazing to be actually looking at it.
Rockhoof: Aye. I remember after Twilight brought me and the other Pillars back from limbo, the ponies at my old village have a dig site to discover things from history which I'm part of, though I mess it up with my old ways when I tried to help.
Maisie Lockwood: It wasn't your fault, Rockhoof. You were having a hard time fitting into the modern world to have a new purpose in Equestria with your big physical appearance.
Beshte: And you've found it, telling stories to younger ponies and animals. You're very good at it.
Rockhoof: Thank you, lads and lassies. I'm very grateful to Yona for helping me realize what my new purpose is in Equestria and what I'm good at most.
Sparky: True that, big guy.
Iago: (to Ester) Where are you going, Ester? Ain't you gonna help dig the palace up?
Ester: No. My job is still to dig the foundations for the new museum. They can't build on the site of the ancient palace, so they're now going to build the museum over here.
Thomas: But it'll take ages to clear all of that by yourself. Don't you have a team?
Ester: We were supposed to, but our work was delayed and now all the Italian construction teams are busy doing other jobs.
Aisling: Well, that's just great. You won't be able to complete the build on your own.
Thomas: Aisling's right. You have to have help, Ester. Our friends Jack and Bob the Builder, back on Sodor and in Spring City, always work with a team. There are dump trucks and diggers and bulldozers...
Ester: Thomas! You're brilliant! (hurries off)
Thomas: Err, I am?
Martin Kratt: Was it something he said?
[Later, out at sea, a fish jumps in and out of the water as Stefano passes by]
Stefano: So, we just have time for one more story. And this one's known as... the Tale of the Lost Engine.
[Pan down to inside Stefano where his passengers are casted in shadows and only their eyes can be seen]
Jack: I like the sound of this story!
[Stefano suddenly jolts on something, causing the room to shake]
Alfie: Oh, I feel sick...
Scoop: Hey! Shush! I want to hear what happens!
Stefano: [as the stained glass window-like flashback plays again] The Lost Engine was an explorer and treasure hunter whose curiosity led him into many a dangerous situation. He didn't always know what he was doing or where he was going, but now legend has it... nobody knows where he is! He's lost!
[The flashback ends]
Jack: Oh!
Brenda: I hope we're not lost. We're a long way from home.
Lofty: Oooh, I really hope you're wrong.
Alfie: I still feel sick...
[We then cut to the coastal cliffs where Gina, Thomas and the Irelanders are heading to the beach to meet Stefano who is just arriving]
Thomas: There's Stefano! Ooh, I wonder what he's bringing this time? Come on, guys!
[They carry on and arrive on the beach. Stefano rolls out of the water and onto the beach beside them]
Thomas: Oh, I still can't believe he can do that!
Heidi: Neither can we, Thomas.
Mewtwo: Good to see you again, Stefano.
Stefano: (laughs) Ciao, Gina! Ciao, Thomas! Ciao, Irelanders! I've got a little surprise for you! Well, a few little surprises, actually! And some big ones too! Ahem! [bangs his deck with his crane arm]
[Stefano's storage compartment door opens to let his passengers out]
The Pack and Can-Do Crew: We're here! Oh, would you look at that? Come on!
[Then, to Thomas' and the Irelanders' surprise and shock, the Pack and the Can-Do Crew roll out of Stefano and onto the beach. Bob, Wendy and Leo climb down from Lofty, Muck and Scoop and walk over to them]
Thomas: Jack! Guys! What? I... I don't understand?
Jack: Surprise! We're here to help get the site ready to build the new museum!
Bob: That's right! It's good to see you and your friends again, Connor.
Connor Lacey: It sure is, Bob.
Thomas: But... you mean... you've all come to help Ester? That's amazing!
Twilight Sparkle: But how did you know that Ester needed help?
Jack: Well, I heard that it was Thomas' idea, Twilight.
Gina: And a good idea it was, too!
Varian: Thomas, you really are a genius!
Lightning McQueen: Hey, you guys haven't met Gina yet.
Thomas: All of you, come and meet our friend, Gina! This is Jack... and Max... Monty... Oliver... and Alfie... and [looking at Brenda] oh. I'm sorry, I don't know your name.
Brenda: Hi, I'm Brenda.
Jack: The newest member of the team!
Bob: It's a pleasure to meet you, Gina. I'm Bob. And this is Wendy, Leo, Scoop, Muck, Lofty, Roley, Dizzy, Two-Tonne, Rocky, Ace, Crunch, Thud, Stretch, Tread, Picksy, Shifter and Norm.
Gina: Nice to meet you.
Connor Lacey: Jack, when did Brenda arrived on Sodor and join your team?
Jack: Well, Connor, it happened after you, your team and Thomas left for Italy.
Kim Possible: Oh, is that so?
Brenda: Yes. Jack and his friends told me so much about you guys and your adventures and when Bob and his team came along, they told me all about themselves as well.
Connor Lacey: Really?
Brenda: Yes. Oh, I'm so embarrassed. I'm such a fan of yours.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug: That's OK, Brenda. We are very pleased to meet you.
Thomas: Ciao, Brenda! That's Italian for hello! And goodbye, actually.
Brenda: Oh, goodbye. I mean, hello! Ciao!
Dizzy: Uh, why does one word means hello and goodbye as well?
Uncle Topolino: Don't worry, Dizzy, you all will get the hang of telling when to say hello and goodbye in Italian.
Fuli: Yeah, if we can learn how to do it then we know you can too.
Bob: Alright, teams, let's get you all loaded on Thomas and Gina's flatbeds though Ace, Crunch, Thud and Norm won't be needing to cause they're all too big.
Elsa: You heard him, we don't wanna keep Ester waiting.
Bob: So, can we build it?
Can-Do Crew: Yes we can!
[Later, the gang makes their way back up the tracks on the cliff]
Thomas: Welcome to Italy, guys!
Alfie: I'm so excited!
Brenda: Oh, look at this!
Oliver: Oh, it's lovely!
Muck: Wow! This is incredible!
Shifter: This is a lot different compared to Spring City.
Thomas: If you have any questions, ask away!
Gina: Oh, yes, Thomas certainly loves questions. Although, his curiosity did get him into trouble once.
Melody: Oh, dear.
Jack: Just like the Lost Engine?
Gina: How do you know about the Lost Engine, Jack? Do they tell the story about him on Sodor and in Spring City, too?
Picksy: No, no. Stefano told us.
Alfie: He also told us about Thomas getting himself and the Irelanders lost!
Gina: (laughs) Well, if the Lost Engine was real, I think he and Thomas would get on very well indeed.
The Pack and Can-Do Crew: (laughing)
[Thomas frowns. Later in the countryside]
Gina: ...and Thomas thought he found the Lost Engine in the tunnel, but it was just his echo calling 'Help! Help! Help!'
Captain Jake: And I've gotta say, even Rex was dumb enough to think that we left "The Lost Engine" behind.
Rex: Uh, can we talk about something else now, please?
Gina: Of course, of course, of course. (laughs)
Oliver: I like your friend, Gina, she's fun!
Thomas: (sighs)
Rosie (A Bug's Life): Looks like we'II never let this down, won't we?
Slinky: Can't say we will.
Jack: I know some funny stories about Thomas, too!
Gina: Ooh, fantastico! I'd love to hear them!
Leo: This ought to be so funny.
Jack: Well, one time, at the old mines, Thomas decided to pass a danger sign and ended up causing all sorts of confusion and delay!
Everyone: (laughing)
Thomas: (groans)
Sunset Shimmer: Well, Rosie's right about one thing, we're never gonna live this down.
Violet Parr: Yeah. (to Thomas) Don't worry, Thomas. I'm sure this'll all blow over soon.
Thomas: I hope you're right, Violet.
[The scene changes to the teams getting work on the site. Jack and Scoop are digging really quickly]
Ester: (laughs) Steady there, you two!
Scoop: Sorry, Ester, but we can't help it!
[Thomas and Gina stop to let Alfie and Stretch pass]
Alfie: Thanks for waiting, Thomas!
Stretch: This is the best build I've been on since building that reservoir in Spring City.
Gina: You know, you were right, guys. Jack, Bob, the Sodor Construction Crew and the Can-Do Crew are fantastico! Especially Jack and Scoop. They're so funny!
Kion: I'm sure they are, Gina.
Jack: [coming over with an artifact in his buck] Gina! Gina! Look what I've found! The archaeologists say it's part of an ancient mosaic!
Gina: Wow, Jack! You've barely arrived here in Italy and already you're making exciting discoveries!
Heidi: That's amazing, Jack.
Wendy: You may even become an archaeologist yourself one day.
Jack: Well, if Miss Jenny allows it.
Connor Lacey: I'm sure she will.
Thomas: Hmph...
[A construction worker waves a green flag and Thomas and the Irelanders head on]
Thomas: We should be the ones making exciting discoveries, guys! We've been working here much longer than they have!
Catalina: Thomas, we haven't been here that long.
Connor Lacey: Yeah, and besides we still have a mystery to solve. I'm sure that we'll find something soon.
Thomas: Yeah, but still. Just imagine what they'd say if we found something amazing!
[He blows up steam starting a fantasy sequence. In the sequence, Thomas and the Irelanders approach a clearing surrounded by a rock wall with light shining into it]
Thomas: (as Narrator) 'Thomas and his team of intrepid explorers delve into unknown territory to find...'
[Thomas puffs onto a turntable which sinks into the ground a bit. This causes a platform to raise up in front of Thomas and the Irelanders with a golden statue of the Fat Controller on top of it, much to their amazement]
Thomas: (gasps) The Golden Controller!
Twilight Sparkle: It really does exist!
Iago: Oooh! More treasure for us to have!
Penny Ling: Quick! Let's grab it and skidaddle.
[Thomas' driver gets out of the cab and reaches out gently to grab it. He picks it up and the room shakes for moment as they shut their eyes. A small rock falls from the ceiling and hits Thomas' driver on the head, causing his cap to tilt slightly to one side. Thomas, his driver and the Irelanders smile at each other in relief before Thomas' driver pulls a lever causing the turntable to rise up again and turn Thomas to go back the way he came. Thomas blows his whistle and his driver is about to get back in when the room shakes again and huge rocks start to fall in on them from the roof]
Chris Kratt: Oh, boy!
Martin Kratt: That can't be good!
Clara: We better get out of here fast!
Thomas: Argh! Booby trap! Quick!
[Thomas and the Irelanders quickly speed off as giant boulders fall from the ceiling and roll after. Thomas and the Irelanders turn left and the boulders roll straight past them]
Thomas: Phew! Ah-ha!
Manny: Hopefully we can get outta here before anything else goes wrong!
Jessie: Well, we're in luck. Look! The exit is just ahead of us!
[They race on until the ground shakes again and the walls start to close in on them]
Thomas: Oh, no! The walls are closing in!
Irelanders: (gasps)
[One of the walls scrapes against Thomas' side. He and the Irelanders speed up as the walls close in tighter but they make it out anyway]
Thomas: (splutters as he gets hit by leafs then gasps)
[They see their heading for the broken bridge in the Amazon rainforest. Just then, Max's voice is heard]
Max: Look out! (honks his horn)
[The sequence ends where Max is stood on the tracks in front of Thomas and the Irelanders but they manage to stop just in time]
Max: You need to watch where you're going!
Monty: And be more careful!
Thomas: You shouldn't be on my tracks! This isn't even a crossing!
Monty: Of course not! But it is a good short-cut, eh, Max?
Max: That's right, Monty!
Kiera: Ugh, those two and their mucking about!
Spike: Yeah, tell us about it. They just never learned.
Sheriff: I think they oughta be locked up in the impound.
Connor Lacey: Now, guys, I know Max and Monty's mucking about can be frustrating but you've gotta understand they're always gonna be like that cause it's who they are. Plus, they're good hard workers and Miss Jenny needs dump trucks on her team to remove waste so the site is safe.
Maisie Lockwood: Yeah, I suppose you're right, Connor.
Heidi: I agree. They doesn't seem so bad to me after our last encounter with them.
Twilight Sparkle: We'II better keep an eye on them to make sure they don't cause any trouble.
Leo: Yeah, but right now, we need to get back to work.
Jack Skellington: Leo's right. Let's go.
Zero: (barks)
[They carry on when Thomas stops and sees something behind a bush]
Thomas: Oh, wow! I can't believe it!
Violet Parr: Can't believe what?
Thomas: Look over there! Behind that bush!
[The Irelanders look where Thomas is looking]
Thomas: We've... we've discovered something, guys! Gina! Gina! Come and see what we've found!
Roley: Rock and roll!
[Gina puffs over to Thomas and the Irelanders along with the Pack and the Can-Do Crew]
Thomas: See that wheel? Over there, behind that bush. It must be an ancient Roman chariot. Like the ones they used to race in! Isn't it incredible? Isn't it... bellissima or bellissimo!
[Brenda pushes the bush aside, revealing the "chariot" to actually be an old tractor, much to everyone's confusion]
Oliver: But... that's a tractor.
Picksy: Well, that's not very exciting.
Monty: Roman chariot! (laughs with Max) No it's not!
Thomas: Ohhh....
Heidi: (giggles quietly)
June: (to Thomas) Don't worry, Thomas. It's a easy mistake to make.
Jack: June's right. Never mind, Thomas. It's not so easy to discover things when you can't dig them up.
Gina: Maybe leave the discovering to the archaeologists and the diggers.
Varian: Uh, hate to nag but engines can discover things as well you know.
Rarity: Yeah, like the time Thomas discovered Lady. She was also called the Lost Engine.
Connor Lacey: Not to mention Hiro the Japanese Engine who have been stranded in the woods on Sodor for a long time after he broke down during his years there before we and Thomas came there.
Twilight Sparkle: That proves that even engines can discover things as well, not just archaeologists and diggers.
Wendy: The Irelanders do have a point there, Gina.
Gina: Well, I guess they're right. (to Thomas and the Irelanders) Sorry, guys. But how are you going to discover things if they're hidden or something?
Thomas: (sighs and whistles)
[Thomas and the Irelanders head on]
Bob: I'd better keep an eye on them, just to be on the safe side.
Leo: Don't worry, Bob. Wendy and I will take care of things here while you're gone.
Bob: Thanks, Leo. (to Tread) Come on, Tread. We better get after them and make sure they don't get into trouble again.
Tread: Okay, Bob.
[Bob gets on Tread and they catch up to the Irelanders and Thomas]
Thomas: (narrating) It wasn't the same with Jack, the Construction Crew, Scoop and the Can-Do Crew being in Italy. Gina thinks they're all amazing and that we're just... silly.
Discord: Well, c’est la guerre, Thomas. I guess you can’t win them all.
Fuli: What does c'est la guerre mean?
Marionette/Ladybug: It means "That's war or life".
Skipper Riley: Yeah but even so it's not makin' Thomas feel any better.
Maisie Lockwood: Yeah so it would help if you'd say something encouraging for once, Discord.
Discord: Like I sometimes have a few times.
Franceso Bernoulli: (to Thomas) Don't-a worry, amico. You'II-a discover something-a soon.
Heidi: Yeah, don't give up hope. We believe in you.
[The scene changes to Thomas and the gang moving on when two horns are heard]
Thomas: Oh... uh-oh.
Violet Parr: Ugh, not them again.
Max: You're so amazing, Thomas, making so many exciting discoveries!
Thomas: Oh... errr... thanks, Max.
Monty: Oh, yeah! First the Lost Engine and then the lost tractor!
Max and Monty: (laughing)
Kion: Hey, that's just hurtful!
Zoe Trent: Thomas may have made some mistakes but that's no excuse to tease him about it!
Max: What's next? The Lost Ice-Cream Van?
Monty: Ice cream! Ha-ha-ha-ha! Yeah! Don't forget the lost echo... echo... echo...!
[Max crosses the tracks in front of Thomas and the Irelanders]
Thomas: Hey! Be careful!
Chug: Yeah! Or I'll leak on you if you two don't check your intake!
Max: Didn't Dottie tell you not to lower yourself to our level? Plus, you and the Irelanders are the ones who should be careful, Thomas! (laughs with Monty)
[Max accidentally rolls over a rock, causing a stone to fly out of his dumper bed and hit a lever which causes the points to switch]
Thomas: We are careful!
[But then, they find themselves turning right onto a different line]
Thomas: (gasps) Hey! This isn't the way back to the loading yard! Help!
Izzy: Where is it taking us?!
Ron Stoppable: I think I know! Look!
[They look to see a boarded up mine entrance ahead of them and burst through it. Thomas slams on his brakes very hard and eventually manages to stop]
Connor Lacey: Is everyone alright?
Twilight Sparkle: Yes, Connor. We're fine.
Frozone/Lucius Best: Not to break up a reassuring moment but where are we? Is this the old mines again?
[His voice echoes]
Thomas: Yes, Frozone. Oh, and that's your echo again, too.
Frozone/Lucius Best: Oh, yeah.
Thomas: (sighs and chuckles) Thank goodness Gina isn't here to see this!
Heimlich: Ja, she'd think we were trying to find the Lost Engine again!
Dolly: Yeah and if she does, Max and Monty'll have even more stuff to tease us about.
Thomas: Hmm... I wonder. Hello?
[His voice echoes]
Thomas: Nope. I knew it. That was just Frozone's and my own echoes again.
Kiera: Okay, now let's get back to the loading yard before...
Voice: Hello?
Thomas: Huh? That wasn't any of our echoes!
Varian: Correct me if I'm wrong but there's definitely someone else down here.
Raven Queen: Well, we'll never know for sure if we don't check it out.
Jimmy Z: But it's so dark down there.
Jiminy Cricket: Alright, take it now. It'II be alright. There's nothing to be afraid of down here.
Clara: Yeah, guys. Come on.
[Thomas' driver turns on his lamp and they head further into the mine to find the source of the voice]
Bunga: Hello? Is anyone down here?
Thorn: Bunga, no need to shout. Someone might hear you.
Bunga: It'II get whoever's down here to answer back.
Jack Skellington: True but Max and Monty may be pulling a prank on us and we might not know so sssh.
Zero: (barks)
Thomas: Max? Monty? Is that you? Are you playing a trick on us?
[They pass another engine hidden in the shadows unbeknownst who is watching them]
Male Voice: Excuse me, but aren't you all coming to rescue me?
Irelanders: (gasps)
Thomas: Who said that?
Male Voice: I did. Please help me.
[Thomas reverses and his driver pulls a lever switching the points to where the engine is. They proceed to move forward toward him]
Thomas: Who's down there? (gasps)
Irelanders: (gasps)
Thomas: You're not Max or Monty! You're... (gasps) the Lost Engine! Wow. You ARE real! We knew it.
Irelanders: Whoa!
Lorenzo: Lost Engine? What are you talking about? I'm Lorenzo...
[The camera pans to behind Lorenzo to reveal a coach named Beppe]
Beppe: And I'm Beppe!
Connor Lacey: It's nice to meet you both. I'm Connor Lacey.

Beppe: That sounds like Lorenzo, all right.
Heidi: And then one day, you disappeared and were lost.
Beppe: Yes, that's Lorenzo.
Twilight Sparkle: So, how did you end up down here anyway?
Lorenzo: We were just having an adventure and got stuck.
Beppe: And then they closed the mine.
Boots: They closed the mine with you two still inside?
Thomas: Nobody knew you were down here!
Aviva Corcovado: Some people don't even think you're real!
Uncle Topolino: I thought you were just a bunch of crazy rumors.
Francesco Bernoulli: Everybody-a knows the-a story of-a the Lost-a Engine! You're a legend-a!
Lorenzo: Why, thank you!
Beppe: What about the Lost Coach? Do they tell that story? Am I a legend, too?
Lorenzo: Of course you are, Beppe! We're both legends! They'll be writing arias about our adventures! La, la, la, la, la-laaaa! Lorenzo and Beppe the Remarkable! (coughs)
[The mines shake for a second then stop]
Starlight Glimmer: (whispering) Sssh! Keep it down! The old mine isn't safe! One small noise and it could cause a cave-in!
Lance Strongbow: We better get Lorenzo steaming up so that we can get out of here.
Korra: Quite right. Let's get to work.
[Later, the team works to get Lorenzo steaming again]
Thomas: (narrating) Lorenzo had been stuck down the mine for such a long time, he needed lots of fresh water and some extra coal!
Lorenzo: Oh, that's better!
Thomas: There you go! You're all nice and warm! Now, let's get you out of here!
[Lorenzo starts blowing steam]
Lorenzo: Tra-la-la-laaaa! Warrrrming-up! My voice is as fit as a fiddledi diddledi di! (groans) But my boiler is rusty and blocked.
Maisie Lockwood: Oh, you poor thing. You really haven't been moving in here for a long time.
Thomas: Don't worry, Tread and I can help pull you out!
Tread: Yeah. Nothing's impossible if you pull together.
[Thomas and Tread are coupled up to Lorenzo and start pulling which proves successful as they begin to make their way out]
Lorenzo and Beppe: Tra-la-laaaa!
[Rocks start to fall from above them due to how loud they're singing]
Thomas: Err... I'm not sure you should be singing in here! You're making everything shake!
Ono: He's right! Are you two crazy?! You'll bring the whole place down on us!
Beppe: But we're singers, you two, and singers have to sing!
Lorenzo: Tra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-laaaaa! I've still got it, eh, Beppe?
[Beppe now looks rather worried]
Beppe: Lorenzo!
Lorenzo: I know, my voice is as moving as it always was!
[Rocks continue to fall as the gang moves on. Just then a support beam starts to shake as they stop suddenly]
Thomas: Oh! Oh, no!
Irelanders: (gasps)
[They push Lorenzo and Beppe out of the way just as the beam comes down behind them, blocking the exit]
Thomas: Cinders and Ashes! Oh, but... that was our way out! We're trapped! The only way we can go is further into the mine.
Cassandra: Are you crazy?! The rocks will flatten us!
Bob: Cassandra, if we don't keep moving, it'll be too late! You have to trust him!
Iago: Oh, sure like she would ever trust anyone during your adventures in Corona and beyond.
Kim Possible: Iago, now is not the time to be talking about Cassandra's distrust issues!
Thomas: Please, Cassandra! It's the only way we'll ever get out!
Cassandra: Since you're my friend, Thomas, I trust you.
Lorenzo: Don't panic. This track goes... somewhere, too. And anyway, all the tracks lead to Rome, guys!
Thomas: (sighs) I'm not so sure about that.
Heidi: Hey, come on, don't be like that, Thomas. We can still make it. We have to try.
Connor Lacey: Heidi's right. It doesn't matter what other people tell you. You're still our number one engine.
Chris Kratt: And we better get going before this place caves-in.
Martin Kratt: You said it, bro.
Lorenzo: Back up, Beppe! [as they begin to move forward] Backing up, backing up, oh, we're backing up!
[They speed on as the rocks continue to tumble around them]
Thomas: This can't be the way out! These tracks keep going down and they're getting deeper and deeper! Oh, when are we going to find a way that heads back up? We should stop and go back to find another way.
Lorenzo: And give up? Never! Aren't you curious to see where this takes us, guys? And besides, this simply cannot be my final finale!
[Just then, Beppe sees light peeking through a boarded up entrance ahead of them]
Beppe: (gasps) Light! I see light! There's a light at the end of the tunnel! Race on!
Thomas: At last! This must be the way out!
Lorenzo: Thomas, can't you see our hope is shining the dark!
Hamm: Uh, guys? You might wanna slow down a bit!
Beppe: No. Wait. Hold on. The piggy bank's right! The track is-a blocked! Stop! Stop! Stop!
[Both Lorenzo and Thomas slam on their brakes but are unable to stop in time, causing Beppe to burst through the wooden boards and dangle over the edge of a cliff]
Stefano: Mamma Mia!
Beppe: No, I'm Beppe - the Legendary Lost Coach! Where's the track gone?
Stefano: (gasps) The Lost Coach?
Lorenzo: And I'm Lorenzo the Lost Engine!
Stefano: The Lost Engine?!
Thomas: And I'm Thomas the Tank Engine!
Connor Lacey: And we're Connor Lacey and the Irelanders!
Stefano: Thomas?! Connor?! Irelanders?!
[Later, the Pack and the Can-Do Crew sit on the beach, nervously watching as Stefano gets ready to rescue Beppe, Lorenzo, Thomas and the Irelanders from the mine. Gina is up on the cliff]
Gina: Hang on, guys! Stefano's got you!
[Stefano lowers Beppe onto his deck. Thomas' drive uncouples Thomas from Lorenzo, who Stefano lowers onto his deck next to Beppe]
Lorenzo: Thank you, sir!
Stefano: No, no, no, no, thank you. It's not everyday I get the legendary Lost Engine on my deck!
Beppe: And a legendary Lost Coach!
Thomas: Ahem!
Stefano: (chuckles) Don't worry, guys! I haven't forgotten the heroes of the hour!
Thomas: (giggles and whistles)
The Pack and Can-Do Crew: Hooray for Thomas and the Irelanders!
[The scene changes to the construction site at sunset as Thomas recounts his and the Irelanders' adventure to the others]
Thomas: Oh, I don't know how we ended up down there - there must've been a problem with the tracks! But then, we heard this voice calling out and... it... it wasn't an echo, so we couldn't just leave, so...
Gina: So, they were fantastico! They rescued Lorenzo the famous Lost Engine who nobody even believed existed.
Discord: Which also includes you, Gina since you don't believe it yourself.
Gina: Oh, yes, of course. Sorry.
Jack: You're our very own legendary adventurers, guys.
Scoop: Yeah. What you did was beyond anything anyone could imagine.
Connor Lacey: Why, thanks, Scoop.
Dot: We did do very well, I guess.
Thomas: I think we've had enough Italian adventures for a while, Dot!
Gina: What do you mean? You're not leaving are you?
Thomas: Why? Do you want us to stay?
Gina: Of course I do!
Russel Ferguson: We want to see what other exciting things Italy has to offer. It is home to Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino after all.
Varian: Yeah. Besides, who knows what else we'll find while we're here.
Fuli: Yeah, come on, Thommy. Let's enjoy ourselves. Live a little.
Thomas: But Gina has Jack, Bob, the Sodor Construction Crew and the Can-Do Crew now and all the exciting discoveries at the dig, Fuli. I just ask too many questions and end up down mines with you guys all the time...
Gina: Thomas! Stop talking. Jack, Bob and the others are great, as are the discoveries. But you and the Irelanders are great, too. You're my friends. I love working here with you all in Italy.
Thomas: You do?
Gina: Yes! But no more dramatic rescues in mines for a while, okay?
Thomas: Absolutely! We'll leave that to Lorenzo and Beppe! Where are they anyway?
Connor Lacey: Beats me.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh, yeah. They instructed me to tell you that they wanted to take a few members of our team for a ride.
Connor Lacey: Well, Twilight, if we know Lorenzo and Beppe, who knows what adventures are out there waiting for them just beyond the horizon.
[Elsewhere, Lorenzo is puffing along with some of the Irelanders in Beppe, singing as he goes]
Lorenzo: How I love a happy ending, hey! [with the Irelanders] How we love a happy ending, hey! Don't you, Beppe? Don't you, Beppe? Don't you, Beppe? Don't you love a happy ending?
Irelanders and Beppe: Always the best kind!
[An iris closes in on them as they puff into the sunset, making the screen go black. Connor, Lorenzo and Beppe appeared at a station]
Connor Lacey: Well, folks, another adventure complete, another mystery solved and another broken down engine discovered but join us next time as we continue our adventures here in Luigi, Guido, Francesco, Uncle Topolino, Mama Topolino, Gina, Ester, Lorenzo and Beppe's home country of Italy.
Lorenzo: See you theeeeeereee!~
Beppe: Ciao!
[Lorenzo whistles and Connor waves as the screen fades to black]
