[[Ash Ketchum]] and his friends (along with Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, Chomper, Ruby, Guido, Littlefoot's grandparents, Rex, Woog, Dweeb, Elsa, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Ttark, and Roger Rabbit) join Goofy and his son, Max Goof on a summer road trip, the Goofy way.

They will later set their most evil plan in motion in the sequel, after coming up in the future movie (''[[The Battle for the Sorcerer's Hat]]'').
**Some of the villains that Ash encountered with before the events of this movie also appear in Ash's dream and in the bonus scene.
*A Goofy Movie was released in theaters in 1995, the same year ''The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving'' was first released directly on home video and the Roger Rabbit short film ''Rollercoaster Rabbit'' was re-released in theaters with another Disney animated film outside of the official canon, which is ''Toy Story''.
*''A Goofy Movie'' was first released on DVD in 2000, the same year that ''Pokémon: The Movie 2000'' was released in theaters in the US and ''The Land Before Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire'' was first released on VHS and DVD.
