Travis Coates: What's that?
Twilight Sparkle: Sounds like a bear cub.
(The heroes among with Kate and Travis see Arliss grabbing the bear cub and Iago down there.)
Rabbit: Arliss, what do you think you're doing down there, young man?!
Travis Coates: Arliss, turn it loose!
Aladdin: Yeah, leave the bear alone!

Mr. Sanderson lets the Coates family keep Yeller[edit | edit source]
(The scene fades to the next day. Someone was coming up to the Coates House.)
Burn Sanderson: Hello, the house!
(Travis opens the door)
Travis Coates: I thought maybe it was Papa.
???: Let's go see who it is.
(Travis, Katie, and the heroes come out of the house as the man comes up)
Burn Sanderson: Mornin', folks.
Tigger: Say, who are you?
Burn Sanderson: I'm Burn Sanderson from down near San 'Tone. Runnin' me a few head of cattle over on Devil's Creek.
Katie Coates: Yes, Mr. Sanderson?
???: What brings you here?
Burn Sanderson: Bud Searcy told me about an old, stray dog you had. Sounded like it might be the one I lost.
(The heroes were stunned)
Katie Coates: You mean a... big yeller dog?
???: And you're his original owner.
Burn Sanderson: That's him all right. The worst egg-sucker and camp-robber you ever laid eyes on. Steal you blind while you're watchin'. But there never was a better cow dog born, or a hog dog either.
???: And we thought Old Yeller didn't have a home.
Katie Coates: Travis, Pooh Bear, everyone, go call Old Yeller to the house.
???: But, Mrs. Coates, Yeller is our friend.
Travis Coates: But, Mama--
Katie Coates: Travis!
Travis Coates: Yes, Mama.
???: (sighs) This is going to break Arliss' heart than it's going to hurt ours.
(They go to find Old Yeller)
Katie Coates: Won't you get down, Mr. Sanderson?
Burn Sanderson: Thank you, ma'am.
(He gets off his horse as we change to a field where Arliss is riding on Old Yeller.)
Travis Coates: Arliss.
(Arliss falls off of Yeller and sees Travis and the heroes.)
Arliss Coates: What do you want?
Travis Coates: Bring Old Yeller to the house.
???: It's kind of urgent.
Arliss Coates: What's the matter?
Travis Coates: You'll find out.
???: But you're not gonna like it.
(The go to the house as we cut back to Katie and Mr. Sanderson.)
Burn Sanderson: Ma'am, you and the boys don't have much protection out here. Bad as I need that old dog, I could give you a loan of him till your man comes home.
Katie Coates: (sighs) No, Mr. Sanderson. If he's your dog, better take him now.
Burn Sanderson: Well, maybe you're right, ma'am.
(Travis, Arliss, Yeller, and the heroes arrive.)
Burn Sanderson: Come on, boy.
(Yeller comes to Mr. Sanderson.)
Burn Sanderson: Why, you prowlin' old rascal. (laughs) Come on, boy.
Arliss Coates: Who's that?
Genie: That's Burn Sanderson, Arliss. Yeller's original owner.
(Travis just stood, almost teary-eyed in scilence.)
Burn Sanderson: Well, good-bye, ma'am. I'm sure much obliged.
(Old Yeller whimpers.)
Burn Sanderson: Come on, Yeller.
(Mr. Sanderson was about to ride off.)
Arliss Coates: That's my dog! You can't take my dog!
(He picks up a rock throws it at Mr. Sanderson, which causes his horse to go out of control.)
Arliss Coates: You can't take my dog! You can't take my dog!
Katie Coates: Arliss! (restrains him)
Iago: Arliss, stop!
Burn Sanderson: Woah, boy!
Arliss Coates: You can't take my dog!
Iago: That's enough, Arliss!
(Mr. Sanderson falls off his horse in a huff. Yeller comes to Arliss.)
Timon: Arliss, what were you thinking?! You should know better.
Katie Coates: Timon's right, Arliss, aren't you ashamed, throwin' rocks at that man?
???: All because he was trying to take away Old Yeller when he is his rightful owner?
Arliss Coates: I'll bust him with another one if he takes my dog off!
Katie Coates: Arliss!
Pumbaa: Sorry, Mr. Sanderson. Arliss here is very attached to Yeller.
Timon: Hope you're not mad at him.
Burn Sanderson: (laughs) Maybe he's right, folks. Man comes to take my dog off, I'd throw a fit too.
???: So, you're not mad at Arliss?
Burn Sanderson: Well, not quite. (gets back up) Let me talk to this boy a minute.

Piglet: Oh, what should we do?
Iago: I don't know, Piglet. I don't know. (sighs)
Genie: I'm afraid there is no other way to help Yeller.
Katie Coates: You're right, everyone. There's only one thing to do.
-
Travis Coates: No, Mama!
