== Alex's failed attempt to catch the thieves == (Karen drives out of the driveway and then drives off. Elsewhere, we see Beaupre hacks into a house's security system. Once the system was disarmed, he takes out a lock pick and unlocks the door and enters the house. Alex looks through his telescope and sees Alice walking the dog. Then he sees a disguised Unger as a jogger, running towards Alice's direction.) Ripster: What are you looking at, Alex? Alex Pruitt: I saw someone walking a dog that almost look like my neighbor, Johnny Allen's dog. And then I saw someone jogging towards the same direction as the person. ??: Who is it? ??: I don't know, but I don't like it. ??: (Alex picks up his telescope as we see Beaupre entering a room, wearing latex gloves as the camera shows a baby doll. Alex brings his telescope up to the attic. He opens the attic window and looks through his telescope and sees Unger stopping) Alex Pruitt: Hmm. (He looks back through his telescope and sees Alice with the dog, stopping) Alex Pruitt: That's weird. (He looks back through his telescope and sees Beaupre inside the house) Alex Pruitt: Oh, my gosh! (He looks through the telescope as Beaupre closes the blind) Alex Pruitt: (gasps) T-Bone: What's wrong, Alex? Alex Pruitt: There's someone in my neighbors, the Stephans' house! I think it's a burglar. Throttle: Uh-oh. That can't be good. (Alex runs down the stairs as we see Jernigan driving the van) Burton Jernigan: Twenty seconds out. (Alex runs to the bottom of the stairs as we cut to Alice) Alice Ribbons: Clear. (Alex runs to his parents' bedroom. He picks up the phone and dials 911) Dispatcher: 911 emergency. Alex Pruitt: I saw a burglar. Dispatcher: Are you by yourself? Alex Pruitt: My mom just to run out for a few minutes and I'm with some friends. I have the chicken pox. Dispatcher: Can I have your address, please? Alex: The guy isn't at my house. He's at the Stephans'. Their address is 2305 Washington Street! (Beaupre exits the house and arms the security system. The police dispatch as we see Jernigan driving the van to pick up Unger. Unger gets in the van. Beaupre exits out of the back yard as the van drives up and picks him up in a flash) Peter Beaupre: Nothing. (Karen pulls up to a driveway as Alex comes down the stairs. The police cars arrive on the scene as Karen comes in to the back) Alex Pruitt: There's a burglar at the Stephans' house! Karen Pruitt: What? Alex Pruitt: I saw him with my telescope. There's a woman with a dog and a gray van... and a man in running clothes. I didn't recognize anybody but the dog. He looked just like Johnny Allen's dog. So, I called the police. (Sirens were wailing) Karen Pruitt: You called the police? (They go inside as the police cars stop in front of the Stephans' house. Karen, Alex, and the heroes exit out the front and see the police led by Officer Jenny) Cop #1: Take the back. Cop #2: Yes, sir. Cop #1: Cover me! (Officer Jenny and a couple of cops go behind the back door. One of the cops kicks the door open as the alarm goes off. They arm themselves as the dog comes into the scene) Officer Jenny: Freeze! (The dog freezes as the cops look confused and dumfounded. Alex comes from behind Karen as one of the cops comes up to them) Police Officer: The burglar alarm was on and working. There was no one in the house. It doesn't appear that anything's been taken. I don't know what your boy saw, but... there wasn't a person in that house. Karen Pruitt: (sighs) I-I'm very sorry about this. My son's been home with the chicken pox, and I just had to run to work to pick up some papers while he's with Pooh Bear and his friends. I'm completely strapped. I don't normally do this. Police Officer: Son, false alarms are no joking matter. Alex Pruitt: It wasn't a false alarm. There was a guy in the house. He had two lookouts and a driver in a gray van. ???: We was with Alex when he saw them through his telescope. ???: If he saw the burglar then we believe him. Karen Pruitt: He's been running a fever. Police Officer: You might want to remind him that ours is a serious business. Karen Pruitt: Oh. He knows. We gave him a police set for Christmas. Not this Christmas, but last Christmas. You know, one of those-- A badge and a hat and a whistle. He took it very seriously. He went around the house arresting relatives for various crimes. Oh, you know, not real crimes. Just for leaving the toilet seat up and snoring and-- Absolutely. I will. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. (The police officer walks off as Karen, Alex, and the heroes enter the house. Back in Alex's room...) Karen Pruitt: (sternly) You get in that bed, young man. Alex Pruitt: Excuse me, but I saw a man in Karen Stephan's bedroom. A white male, a little older than Dad, and he was wearing butt-inspection gloves. ???: We was there, too. Karen Pruitt: I have warned you about that telescope. You look through it long enough, you're gonna start seeing things, whether or not they're there. Alex Pruitt: I guess you have to be 35 before anyone around here listens to you. Karen Pruitt: Don't get smart with me, Alex. Sick or not, I am very angry with you. You have caused a lot of trouble today. Dad and I have to replace a door at the Stephans'. Do you think we're happy about that? Alex Pruitt: I saw what I saw. Pooh Bear: Your son wasn't imaging things, Mrs. Pruitt. Piglet: Neither are we. Misty: Mrs. Pruitt, we saw the burglar as well. Their van fled the scene before the police got here. Ash Ketchum: But we managed to get their license plate number. Brock: The police should see signs of forced entry into the Stephans' house. (Karen sighs as she leaves Alex's room) SpongeBob SquarePants: Hey, we're not kidding around either! (The scene cuts to a FBI headquarters. Inside, the monitors show the thieves) Agent Stuckey: Peter Beaupre, Earl Unger, Burton Jernigan... and Alice Ribbons. They were ticketed under known aliases... but didn't board the Hong Kong flight. I believe they're still in the U.S., but beyond that... I don't know. Ladies and gentlemen, we've got to find that chip. (Back in Chicago) Alice Ribbons: What went wrong with the burglar alarm? Peter Beaupre: Nothing. It wasn't the alarm. Earl Unger: Then who called the police? Mr. Jernigan, care to speculate? Alice Ribbons: Cars came and went. The mailman came by. We could have a watcher on any house in any street. It could be anybody. Peter Beaupre: I don't think it's just anybody. I think it's someone on our street. Someone we are not tracking. Someone we've missed. (At the Pruitt house, Alex was in the attic, looking through his telescope. A taxi arrives) Alex Pruitt: Dad, cab's here. (Jack was ironing) Jack Pruitt: Oh, shoot. Your mom's not back yet. Well, all right. Your mom ad to take some documents to the bank. She can't be gone more than a few minutes. Mrs. Hess is home. You'll be fine, okay? My beeper number's on speed dial on the telephone. Alex Pruitt: Second button. Mom's on the first button. Jack Pruitt: Right. Yeah. So, you're okay? Alex Pruitt: Positutely. Jack Pruitt: All right. Give me a kiss. (Alex kisses his cheek) Jack Pruitt: All right. (Jack was about to leave, but almost without his pants) Alex Pruitt: Dad. Jack Pruitt: Alex, this is a very safe and secure neighborhood. We have great police, as you learned yesterday. Nothing bad is gonna happen to you. Okay? Alex Pruitt: Dad. Jack Pruitt: Yeah? Alex Pruitt: Got your tickets? Jack Pruitt: Yep. Alex Pruitt: Got your wallet? Jack: Yeah. It's in my pocket. Alex Pruitt: (holds up his pants) Where's your pocket? (Jack realizes his not wearing pnats) Jack Pruitt: Yeah. (Alex throws him his pants) Jack Pruitt: Thank you. Alex Pruitt: Bye, Dad. (Outside, we see Unger disguised as an old man as the taxi passes by) Alex Pruitt: (gasps) (closes the window) (Mrs. Hess comes out of her house and opens her garage door) Earl Unger: She's leaving. (Alex opens the window) Streex: What'd you see now, Alex? Alex Pruitt: I saw a strange old man walking pass my house. (Alex looks through his telescope and sees Mrs. Hess' car and then sees the thieves' van. We see Alice pushing a stroller with a baby doll) Alice Ribbons: 3025 is all clear. Red sedan heading south. Turning right. Hold. (Alex looks through his telescope and sees the window of Mrs. Hess' house. Then he changes the lens to look closer as he sees Beaupre in the house) Alex Pruitt: (gasps) Spike (Extreme Dinosaurs): What is it, Alex? Alex Pruitt: I saw someone in Mrs. Hess' house. It looked like the same burglar who was at the Stephans' house yesterday. And they also have a gray van parked nearby. Vinnie: This is getting intense. (Alex runs downstairs to his parents' bedroom and dials 911 on his parents' phone. At the bank, Karen was about to drop off some documents until her pager beeps) Karen Pruitt: (groans) (She takes out her pager as the display shows 911. At the airport) Flight Agent: Hi. Jack Pruitt: Hi. Flight Agent: You are just in time, (reads his passport) Mr. Pruitt. (Jack's pager beeps) Jack Pruitt: Wait, wait. Wait, wait. (His pager shows 911 on the display) Jack Pruitt: Oh, no. (The police dispatch. Beaupre was inside Mrs. Hess' house looking in a closet and sees a bag) Peter Beaupre: Yes. (He looks in the bag, but it had mittens inside, much to his frustration. Outside, Alice hears the sirens) Alice Ribbons: (gasps) Abort. Abort. Peter Beaupre: Evacuate the area. I'm on my own. (Jernigan starts the van's engine as the police cars got closer. Unger and Alice flee as the police park outside the house, led by Officer Jenny) Officer Jenny: Let's go! Move! Move! (Alex looks through his telescope) Cop: Cover it! (Alex sees the cops running towards the house and sees Beaupre still in the house) Alex Pruitt: Cool. Jab: We got him now! (The police kick the doors open) Cop: Okay. Come on. Officer Jenny: Check the back. (Alex sees the school bus arriving through his telescope as the kids exit out of the bus. In Mrs. Hess' basement) Cop: Nothing. Cop #2: Let's check upstairs. (Beaupre clinged himself onto the ceiling of the basement to avoid getting caught. Outside, a police officer walks up to Stan and Molly) Stan Pruitt: So, uh, where's the burglar? Cop: There is no burglar. Just a kid home sick from school makin' false alarms. Stan Pruitt: How embarrassing. Cop: Mm-hmm. Misty: Oh, great.
