Winnie the Pooh (or Pooh for short) (originally voiced by Sterling Holloway, Hal Smith, and currently by Jim Cummings) is an anthropomorphic, honey-loving teddy bear belonging to Christopher Robin that first appeared in Disney's 1966 short Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.
Pooh is based on the character of the same name from the book of the same name, written by A.A. Milne.
He is the protagonist of the Pooh's Adventures series (both main protagonist and overarching protagonist).
He lives under the name Sanders (that's because the name Mr. Sanders is written in his front door) in a house in the Hundred Acre Wood and is not (as he himself admits) very intelligent and ends up being the running gag at life, but does have good ideas sometimes, and is all in all a very loyal friend. Unfortunately, he has a great difficulty to explain them to the other characters. He has an insatiable appetite for honey. He sometimes likes to dress up as a Western hero known as "The Masked Bear" and Eeyore plays his "Faithful Steed". The relatives he meets in the adventures are Baloo and Yogi Bear.
Appearance
Winnie the Pooh is an anthropomorphic yellow teddy bear. He is short, and a little round belly. He has black dot eyes, a black nose, a short snout, and small round ears. There is also stitching on his belly and bottom, which occasionally rips open. He only wears a small red short-sleeved shirt, in which his belly hangs out of.
Personality
Pooh is described as being "a bear of very little brain." He is very kind and friendly towards everyone and has a demeanor that is childlike and innocent. Because of his limited intelligence, however, Pooh is extremely naive. Absent-minded and simple, he tends to process things at a slower pace than his friends, to the point of seeming disoriented. Pooh's sluggish nature also makes him somewhat passive in most situations.
Pooh is arguably best known for his love of honey (or "hunny" as he spells it). He keeps a supply of pots at his home, but they are often empty due to his unending appetite. When he runs out, he often travels to Rabbit's house to borrow some. Loyal to his friends and the "favored" toy of Christopher Robin, Pooh is often entitled to "leader of the group". He has a knack for being very optimistic during times of despair. He can be very courageous in tough times and is usually the one consulted when trouble occurs.
In spite of being "a bear of very little brain", Pooh occasionally seems to hold some wisdom, such as in Pooh's Heffalump Movie, in which he's the first one to realize that the "monster" all feared was a mother looking for her baby, and though most of Christopher Robin, such as when Christopher states that he doesn't need a balloon, Pooh states that, though he's aware he doesn't need it, it would make him happy, and when he constantly asks if Christopher's work is as important as the latter claims to be. As his best friend states in Christopher Robin, his wisdom is because Pooh is "a bear of very big heart".

On April 11, 2006, Pooh received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, being the 4th Disney character to receive one after Mickey Mouse, Snow White, and Donald Duck.
Pooh's original voice actor, Sterling Holloway, once said that Pooh was his favorite.
It is implied Christopher Robin received him on his first birthday, as, in The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh, Pooh's Grand Adventure, and Christopher Robin, Christopher Robin asked if Pooh will stay in the Hundred Acre Wood, even when he's a hundred. Pooh asks "How old will I be?," and Christopher Robin answers, "Ninety-nine."
In House of Mouse, Pooh never had any lines, which is curious, as his voice actor Jim Cummings did multiple voices in the series.
He, Piglet, and Roo are the only animal characters of the franchise who wear clothes. In all three cases, a shirt but no pants.
Pooh's current voice actor, Jim Cummings, also voices Tigger. Tigger and Pooh are also two of Jim Cummings' favourite Disney roles.
The read-along story of his origin, The Original Story of Winnie the Pooh, only mentions Harry Coleburn buying the black bear to be named Winnie, and Christopher Robin renaming his teddy bear Edward using the name Pooh out of nowhere. It never mentions Winnie being orphaned by the hunter or the involvement of the swan Pooh. The ending only says, "that's another amazing story."
In 2017, China began to censor Winnie-the-Pooh, due to the character being compared to Chinese president Xi Jinping by the use of internet memes.
Pooh, alongside Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Rabbit will make their first appearance in Team Robot's Adventures of Barney's Imagination Island and will be guest starring In Team Robot & Mr. Conductor's Adventures Of Timmy The Tooth.
Pooh will reveal how his friends met Barney the Dinosaur in Barney's Adventures of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and will join him in his other adventures, including the Barney/Winnie the Pooh films.

There will be a special movie called In Search of Winnie the Pooh released in the future where Pooh goes missing and gets amnesia. It was originally planned to celebrate the Pooh's Adventures series' anniversary, but it's taking too much time due to the creator's other projects. In May 2020, it was decided to feature at least half the number of Pooh and Tigger's fellow "Cartoon All-Stars".
Pooh and his friends will meet the Zombie Hunter Squad in Infinity War, the epic conclusion to War of the Apocalypse.
Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet were originally going to have a cameo in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where they would've been attending Marvin Acme's funeral, alongside Foghorn Leghorn, Popeye, Superman, Tom & Jerry, and Felix the Cat. The scene, however, was sadly cut from the final film, and none of the listed characters (besides Felix and Piglet) appeared in the full movie (even though they still obviously exist in the film's universe, since they're toons).

When Peter Dinkalge (TBA) guest starred on Saturday Night Live during Season 41, there was a Winnie the Pooh sketch where Dinklage played Pooh.
