==Plot==
[The film begins in Fernfield]
Through a voiceover, Sniffer introduces the five Air Buddies, describes their personalities and recaps how the puppies' father, Air Bud, made the town of Fernfield famous through his love of sports. When their families leave home for a basketball game, the puppies get into trouble with their sitter, Mrs. Niggles, by playing with balls of yarn and eating a blueberry pie. This prompts their owners to finally put the puppies up for adoption.

Meanwhile, Selkirk Tander tries to impress Mr. Livingston's son, Bartleby Livingston by showing him a female tiger for his birthday, but Bartleby wanted an animal he can play with. He wants Air Bud (Buddy) because Buddy can play sports. Mr. Livingston offers $500,000 if Selkirk can get Buddy. Selkirk then sends his nephew Grim and assistant Denning to capture Buddy.
Deputy Sniffer: Welcome to Fernfield, where we like to say where everything is possible. I've been the deputy of this here town since way back then. And never have I seen an adventure like the one I'm about to tell ya.

At school, Noah and Henry collect every boy and girl's profile sheets and photos. After deciding which children would make good owners, the family decides to call them the next day. Grim and Denning arrive at Buddy's home, only to see Buddy and Molly at the same time, thinking there are two air buds or they are mates. The next morning, the pups decide to run away. Grim and Denning follow them, and manage to catch Budderball by luring him with a doughnut. The other Buddies go and find Budderball; they are also captured and used as bait to catch Buddy and Molly. Buddy manages to free the Buddies but Denning traps him with a net. Molly attempts to save Buddy but gets herself captured. Denning and Grim put Buddy and Molly in the truck, while the buddies chase after them.
[A flashback with Air Bud (Buddy) playing a basketball game]

In wine country, Selkirk is pleased that Denning and Grim captured both Buddy and Molly so he can have them breed puppies and sell them for money. When Grim explains that Buddy and Molly already had puppies, which Denning let get away, Selkirk tells them to lock the dogs in the wine cellar and go and capture them. Selkirk also replaces Grim as the leader of the mission to capture the Buddies. Grim and Denning go back to Buddy's home to capture the Buddies but no luck. The Buddies have sniffed their way to a drive-in movie theater, where Grim and Denning are watching ''101 Dalmatians''. The Buddies find their way to the projection room and walk in front of the projector, their shadows attracting Denning and Grim's attention. However, the two are confronted by movie-goers who correctly deduce their intentions of harming the Buddies, resulting in them being ambushed and tied up to the screen, after which the crowd hurls popcorn and other food items at them.
Deputy Sniffer: As you may already know Fernfield is home to the world famous Air Bud. A true sports legend who's first love had always been the game.

The next morning, Grim and Denning escape the theater and catch up to the Buddies, chasing them to a farm. The Buddies meet Billy the goat and Belinda the pig, who help the Buddies escape from Grim and Denning. The Buddies lure Grim and Denning into a stable and escape through a small hole as Billy locks Grim and Denning in. The Buddies go through the forest then meet the Wolf who leads them to wine country. A skunk's spray enables Sniffer to smell again, so he calls Noah and Henry and they go off to find the Buddies. Buddy and Molly manage to escape to find the Buddies. Budderball falls into a hole, which Buddy and Molly dug, forcing the Buddies to help. Noah and Henry are led by Sniffer through the same farm that the Buddies went through. Noah and Henry are ecstatic and overjoyed at finding Grim and Denning being held prisoners by Billy the goat, and immediately leave to report them and turn them in to authorities over Grim and Denning's protests. Bartleby and his father come to collect the dogs but instead finds the Buddies. Bartleby and his father then put the Buddies in a limousine, when Noah, Henry, Buddy and Molly come to rescue the Buddies. Budderball falls into one of the wine containers and gets drunk. Bartleby catches Budderball but is caught by Sniffer.
[The screen shows Buddy playing various sports]

Noah, Henry, and the dogs release barrels towards Selkirk and Mr. Livingston; the barrels break the wine container. Selkirk and Mr. Livingston fall in, as the container cracks open. Washing out of the container, Sheriff Bob arrives to arrest Selkirk, Denning, and Grim. The Buddies apologize to Buddy and Molly; they understand and say they're ready for their new owners. Budderball decides to stay with Bartleby because he needs a friend. The puppies are introduced to their new families and end up enjoying their new lives. The film ends with Buddy, Molly, Buddha, Budderball, Rosebud, B-Dawg, Mudbud, Sniffer and The Wolf howling to show how they are still family, despite their distance.
[The scene then changes to Buddy and Molly meeting for the first time]

Deputy Sniffer: And Buddy fell head over tail for her. Gosh, it was enough to make my own heart skip a beat. It wasn't long before we heard the pitter patter of little paws. Buddy and Molly were blessed with five adorable pups. Known around these parts as the Buddies.

[A kid pours dog biscuits in five dog bowls]

Deputy Sniffer: Let's see, you got the big fella, Budderball, you just can't seem to fill this pup up. B-Dawg is the B-ball home dog when the kids say he's all about the big bling. Buddha's one of them Zen puppies you know always meditating and doing that yoga stuff. Mudbud? Well, his name says it all. He'd take mud over a bathtub anyday. And last but not least, Rosebud. Don't let her pretty looks fool ya. She's as feisty as her brothers. These little Buddies were growing up so fast and becoming quite the handful. Enough to tire out a young-n let alone an old loser like myself. [clears throat] Hey, I'm down here! I'm Deputy Sniffer. This here is Sheriff Bob. Now there comes a time in every pup's life where they must say goodbye to the home they once knew and say hello to a new one. And that's where our story begins.

[The film begins at Buddy's home.

[Using a pipe, they climb up to the roof and to the room where Rosebud, Budderball, Buddha, Mudbud and B-Dawg are]

[The five pups turn and spot them]

Budderball: Hey, check it out. We've got some living Stuffed Animals in the house.

Budderball: Name's Budderball.

Buddha: Buddha is present.

Mudbud: Mudbud's the name. Mud's my game.

B-Dawg: Yo, dawgs, B-Dawg in the da house.

[Downstairs]

Noah's Mom: Noah, come on. We've gotta go now!

Noah's Dad: We're gonna be late for the game!

[Upstairs, Noah and Buddy are getting ready]

Noah: Coming! [to Buddy] You go downstairs, I'll be right there. [pats his head]

[Buddy heads downstairs. The doorbell rings. Noah's father answers the door]

Noah's Dad: Oh, good. The sitter's here!

: Sitter?

Budderball: We're being puppy-sat while Dad gets to go to a big game.

[The sitter, Mrs. Niggles, enters]

Mrs. Niggles: I prefer the professional distinction of "Nanny", if you don't mind. [Buddy barks] Hello, Buddy.

Noah's Mom: Hi, Mrs. Niggles.

[Upstairs, Noah goes to the Buddies' room]

Rosebud: Noah's coming!

Noah: I'm serious. You guys need to chill. Be back soon, okay? [leaves]

RoseBud: Okay, he's gone.

Mudbud: Dudes, that's amazing how you can stay quiet for so long.

[The Buddies get out of their basket. Back downstairs, Noah arrives]

Noah's mom: [sighs]

Noah: Sorry. I had to say goodbye. I think they're sad that they can't come.

Noah's mom: Aw. Now go say hi.

Noah: Hi, Mrs. Niggles.

Mrs. Niggles: I worked all day on this little piece of perfection. Blueberry pie just for my favorite little boy.

[The Buddies watch from the landing]

Budderball: Did someone say Blueberry pie?

Mudbud: Dudes, if we wanna go to the game, we're gonna have to get by Niggles.

Buddha: Words of wisdom, Mudbud.

B-Dawg: This game's gonna be off the chain insane.

Mrs. Niggles: Where are the little darlings?

Noah: They're up in their room, playing.

Noah's Dad: Time to go.

Noah's mom: Bye, buddies!

[Buddy barks]

Mrs. Niggles: Have fun!

[The family heads outside]

Budderball: Come on, guys! Follow me!

[The pups grab their balls and head downstairs to the door. Mrs. Niggels cuts them off]

Mrs. Niggles: [clears her throat] And where might you think you were going? Ooh, I know what you little Buddies want! Bathtime it is!

[The buddies drop their balls in dismay]

Noah's parent: Hi, guys. Already for the game?

Joshua's dad: Let's get this show on the road.

[After sometime chatting, the families get in the car]

Mrs. Niggles: Cleanliness is next to cuddliness. [notices there are four puppies] One. Two. Three. Four. Somebody's missing. [finds Mudbud behind the rack and picks him up] Come here, you mucky pup.

[ watches from the doorway]

[Mrs. Niggles puts Mudbud in the bath]

Mrs. Niggles: In you pop. Oh, bathtime is so much fun. Rubb-a-dub-dub, five puppies in the tub.

[Later]

Mrs. Niggles: Have a nice nap. Now, you behave. I'll be back in an hour.

[She leaves]

: She gone yet?

Budderball: Yep.

B-Dawg: Nobody tells B-Dawg he's gotta take a nap.

Rosebud: Hey, look. She's got a ball.

B-Dawg: If the Buddies can't go the game, the game will come to the Buddies.

Buddha: Sssh. Mrs. Niggles is finding her inner peace. She's falling asleep.

Budderball: I don't know about my inner peace. But, I want a piece of that pie.

Buddha: She's going...

Budderball: Going...

Rosebud: Going...

B-Dawg: Going...

Mudbud: Going...

Budderball: I'm going in.
