==The heroes become friends with Amos and Chief/Chief and Copper comfort Littlefoot and Ash/Ending== (The next morning at the Pokemon center.) Nurse Joy: (comes out of the Pokémon center alongside her Chansey with the fully healed Tod in a crate; comes to a forested area and opens the crate) Alright, little fella. You can come out now. It's time for you to go back to where you belong. (Tod is a bit nervous and shy) Come on. It's okay. It's okay. (Tod slowly peaks his head out, making Nurse Joy giggle. He cautiously walks out of the crate and stares at Nurse Joy for a brief moment in confusion.) Nurse Joy: (giggles) It's alright. You're gonna be okay. We promise. (Tod, though still a bit shaken from Amos' monstrous hunt, begins the regain full confidence and starts running back into the forest where he joyfully reunites with Vixey.) Nurse Joy: Good-bye, sweet little angel. Chansey: (teary-eyed) Chansey.... (Tod and Vixey happily wander off into the forest. Meanwhile, back at jail, Amos and Copper are in their cell, remorseful for what they've done during that horrifying hunt.) Officer Jenny: (opens the cell holding Amos Slade and Copper) Okay, Mr. Amos Slade, sir, you're free to go. I hope this long night in jail has taught you and your dog not to trespass, commit poaching and arson, nor make violent threats to people ever again. Amos Slade: It has. Officer Jenny: And I hope you've both learned your lesson about letting your thirst for vengeance and your temper get the best of you the hard way. Amos Slade: Yes, we have. And we got what we deserved for our reckless and irrational behavior. Right, Copper, boy? (pets his dog as he responds with a happy bark) Thank you very much for bailing me out and for going easy on me, officer. Officer Jenny: Well, judging from the condition you're in, I'd figure it's the least I can do. Since I was told by you that you were having money issues and all, those children were generous enough to help pay off your fine by cleaning up your mess in the preserve yesterday. You're lucky to have someone so thoughtful to do something nice for you when you're in a very sad state. And if I were you, Amos, you should consider thanking them for their kindness. Oh, and one more thing, here's a little something for you on the way out. (gives him crutches to show there's no hard feelings) It's for your leg, sir. Amos Slade: That's really kind of you. Thanks. Officer Jenny: (to Copper) And this is for you, little guy. (gives Copper a bone-shaped chew toy, which he joyfully begins to chew on) The kids are on their way with your truck to pick you up and drive you back to your cabin. Have a safe trip home. (Minutes later, the heroes arrive to pick up Amos and Copper.) Heroes: Hello, Mr. Slade. Amos Slade: Hello, everyone. (Amos and Copper get in the truck. Then, Copper sits next to Ash and affectionately licks his face which caused him to laugh. Ash pets Copper as he placed his arm around him. Then Copper placed his chin onto Ash's shoulder.) Amos Slade: I want to thank you all for straightening me out. Misty: It was our pleasure, Mr. Slade. Ash Ketchum: (with Copper nestling onto him) We all got off on the wrong foot. Pikachu: Pika. (Pikachu climbs onto Amos' lap.) Amos Slade: Yes, son, we have. Now, I know why Copper likes you. Ash Ketchum: That he does. Right, Copper? (Copper barks and pants happily) Velma Dinkley: Now, Mr. Slade, hunting is one thing, but poaching is not a good idea. Surely you understand that. Amos Slade: Yes, young lady. (sighs) Brock: Now, no more using dangerous animal traps. And from the condition your leg is in, I can tell you've learned your lesson the hard way. Amos Slade: Yes, son, the next time I hunt, I'll think before using my traps. (to Ash) And you, young man, I take back everything I said to your Pikachu. (he pets Pikachu gently which pleased him; then looks at the group with a sad face) Children, for the past year since meeting you, I'm terribly sorry for the way I behaved and for everything I've done. I guess I am just a crotchy old grump who should've known better. Will you ever forgive me? (smiles warmly) Littlefoot: Yeah. Ash Ketchum: (smiling) Sure, Mr. Slade. (shakes hands with him) (Fred starts the truck and begins the drive back to Amos' cabin.) Daphne Blake: While you were in jail overnight, we called in a professional veterinarian to take care of Chief. She said it wasn't severe. It was just a minor fracture, but he's still gonna need his hind leg wrapped up for the next several weeks. But not to worry. He'll be as good as new in no time. (Copper barks happily upon hearing the good news.) Copper: (happily, in his thoughts) Now, I know Chief is gonna be okay. Amos Slade: That's great to hear. And that was very nice of her to take care of Chief for me. Littlefoot: It's not a big deal. Really. Velma Dinkley: And we'd just set up an appointment to have an orthopedic come and take a look at your leg. She's waiting for you at your cabin right now and is expecting upon your arrival. Shaggy: Like, we hope you feel better, Mr. Slade, sir. Amos Slade: How very kind of you to say that, Shaggy. Ash? Ash Ketchum: Hmm? Amos Slade: Why did you and your friends keep calling the fox Tod? Ash Ketchum: Because that's his name, Mr. Slade. When Tod was a little baby, Mrs. Tweed took him in, raised him, and named him Tod. And he would've died if she hadn't taken care of him. Amos Slade: Hmm, it figures. Pikachu: (nodding) Pika. Fred Jones: Well, Mr. Slade, here we are. Back to your home. Ash Ketchum: Let me give you a hand there, Mr. Slade. Amos Slade: Ah, thank you, Ash. Ash Ketchum: You're welcome. Let's get you inside the doctor's waiting for you. (As they help him inside, Cera thought about something.) Cera: By the way, Mr. Slade, whatever happened to those other guys who were with you while hunting down Tod? Misty: The last time we saw that was they were alongside you while you were hunting in the preserve. Do you know where your friends are or what happened to them? Amos Slade: Huh? Friends? (suddenly becomes angry) Friends?! Doggonit, at least, they were my friends, until they.... they betrayed me! Left me and Copper to die! Littlefoot and Ash: What?! (Their friends gasp in horror at the revelation.) Bugs Bunny: (quietly whispers to Daffy) Uh-oh...here he goes again. Daffy Duck: You said it, pal. Amos Slade: Oooh, if I ever see those back-stabbing traitors again, I'm gonna give 'em what for and blast each of 'em with my rifle! Littlefoot: Whoa! Hold on there, old timer! We think you've been through enough drama for a while. Misty: For you need to save your strength and get some rest. Brock: And besides, you don't have to think about them anymore. They're not worth it. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, leave them to us. We'll make sure they'll regret for ditching you and Copper. Fred Jones: And for leaving you at the mercy of that angry bear. Jack Skellington: So, no more thinking about revenge, okay? Because, if you do recall, it led both you and Copper into getting yourselves in big trouble. (Amos calms down upon realizing that the heroes have a point.) Amos Slade: (sighs, calmly) You're right. Yes sirree. From now on, no more hunting in game preserves and no more hunting Pokémon. Especially Pokémon who belong to trainers. Right, Copper? Copper: (barking in agreement) Amos Slade: Ha ha! Isn't he somethin', kid? Ash Ketchum: He sure is. (Amos and Ash both laugh as Copper howls happily.) Ash Ketchum: Come on, everyone. Let's get Mr. Slade inside and let the doctor care for him. (They help him walk over to the front door where he can enter and see the doctor. Chief barks happily upon seeing Amos and Copper arrive home. Eventually, they meet up with Bagheera and Baloo who were keeping watch of the cabin. Amos felt surprised to see the fixed windows.) Amos Slade: You kids fixed up my cabin and you've put dog houses for Chief and Copper. You've also fixed up my yard. Fred Jones: Yep, just yesterday, Mr. Slade. Brock: I just mowed your lawn. Taran: We've also gave you lots of firewood for next winter. Princess Eilonwy: Think it's enough firewood for you, Mr. Slade? Amos Slade: Yes, it is. How did you children get my cabin clean? Ash Ketchum: We swept, dusted the cob webs and dust bunnies, and mopped. Misty: Yeah, and we've also put the screens on your windows in order to keep the mosquitos out. Shaggy: Like, we've bought you some nice clothes for you, Mr. Slade. It's from the shopping mall. Amos Slade: You also brought groceries. Velma Dinkley: Uh-huh, Daphne and I went food shopping yesterday. Amos Slade: (smiling warmly) Why, thank you so much, children. Bagheera: Oh, welcome home, Mr. Slade. We have been waiting for you. Littlefoot and his friends told us everything about what happened yesterday and we're very sorry. But no need to worry. We'll take very good care of you. The doctor's waiting inside and she's expecting to see you. So, do come in, rest yourself and she'll make sure you're well taken care of. You must be very hungry and tired after such doings. (They open the door and bring Amos inside. Misty gives Copper a big bowl of some dog food, figured he had been hungry after spending a night in jail.) Bagheera: Oh, madam! Your patient is here! Doctor: Oh, well, hello, Mr. Slade. It's such a pleasure to meet you. Come on in and take a seat. I'm gonna take a look at your leg. Ash Ketchum: Okay, there we go, Mr. Slade. (placed him onto the couch) Now, let's leave the doctor to Mr. Slade. Come on, Copper. (The heroes and Copper leave the room so the doctor can examine Amos' injured foot. Chief leans his head and sees Littlefoot and Ash.) Chief: (whispers) Hey! Psst! Hey, you, boys! Littlefoot and Ash Ketchum: Hmm? Who, us? Chief: Yes, you, come here. Littlefoot: You want to talk to us? Ash Ketchum: Why? Chief: Come here. (Ash felt hesitant as he gulped and backed away.) Ash Ketchum: (nervously, in his thoughts) What if Chief might maul me if I get too close to him? Chief: (assuringly) Don't worry, sonny, I won't bite. (Littlefoot and Ash nervously stare at Copper.) Copper: (assuringly) It's okay, guys. Chief's not gonna hurt you. Littlefoot and Ash: Okay, Copper. (He and Littlefoot walk up to Chief and sat down to talk to him) Chief: So, you're Littlefoot and you're Ash Ketchum? Ash Ketchum: Yeah, we are. Littlefoot: But how did you know? Chief: Your animal friends told me about you, and it was nice of you kids among with your friends to look after me and call up the vet. Littlefoot: Aww, it was nothing. Ash Ketchum: It sure was. (placed his arm around Copper) Don't worry, Copper, Daphne already talked to Mr. Slade that it was just a minor fracture. Copper: Oh, I'm not worried too much this time, Ash. I'm now glad that Chief's broken leg wasn't severe. (playfully pins down Ash which made him laugh) (jokingly) You think I'd feel worried all the time? Ash Ketchum: (laughing) No. Copper: (jokingly) You think I'd stay mad forever? Ash Ketchum: (laughing) No, you wouldn't. Do you remember when we first met you when you were a puppy? (Copper tugs Ash's shirt playfully making him laugh) Littlefoot: (laughing) He actually did remember. SpongeBob Squarepants: (laughing) We'll take that as a "yes." Copper: Are you kidding? Of course I remember, Ash. (jokingly) You think I forgot all about that? Ash Ketchum: (laughing) No, I guess you didn't. Copper: (playfully taking off Ash's hat) Huh? Huh? (growls in a playful manner and shakes the hat back and forth before throwing it to the ground) (laughs, while tickling his stomach) I gotcha right here, little buddy! Ash Ketchum: (laughing) Copper, you're tickling me! (Ash laughed as Copper licks his face as Chief and the other heroes laugh with amusement.) Bugs Bunny: Well, Copper is playful again. Daffy Duck: You said it, pal. Chief (amused): Oh, lay off him, Copper. You overgrown pup, you. (chuckles) Copper: (chuckles) Okay, okay. (Ash giggles as he sits up and wipes his face) (Copper and Ash instantly settle down.) Chief: Ash, come over and sit next to me, sonny. (Ash crawls, picks up his hat, and sat next to Chief. He started to show sympathy towards him.) Ash Ketchum: (sadly) We're really sorry about your leg, Chief. Chief: (gently) Aww, don't worry so much, sonny. I'll live. It seems to me that you kids are the first to talk to our master ever since he doesn't have any friends and neither do I. (placing his paw onto Ash's shoulder, smiling warmly) So, you're also the first to talk to me. Ash Ketchum: (smiling warmly) That we are, Chief. It's real nice for you and Mr. Slade to have us as new friends for a change. (Ash hugs Chief and he hugs back.) Chief: (touched) Aww, shucks. (Copper felt admired, having not seen his grumpy mentor happy before.) Heroes: (with Copper) Awww. Ash Ketchum: (petting him gently) How's that feel, Chief? Chief: (sighs) That feels good. Thank you. So, you kids grown attached to Copper, huh? Littlefoot: Uh-huh. Brock: We sure did. Ash Ketchum: Since Copper was a little puppy. You know what they say. Copper and Ash: A dog is a man's best friend. Chief: Hmm, I never knew dogs can play with kids and that there is more to being a dog than hunting. I guess I forgot all about that. Ash Ketchum: You are Mr. Slade's first and only companion. Chief: Uh-huh, since I was a little pup just before Copper and you kids came along. So, when our master's four kids used to live with us. My master first got me when his two older kids were in high school while his two younger kids were in middle school just before his wife passed away years ago. As the years pass his four kids move out to live on their own, our master and I were all alone with nobody to talk to. Our master and I spent our lonely days hunting for food and fur. Last spring, I first met Copper when he was a small pup, I wasn't fond of him at first, but then I began to like him slowly. So, I became a father figure to Copper. Copper: Ash, I'm really glad you and your friends met me first, little buddy. Ash Ketchum: Me, too, Copper. (Ash and Copper hug each other then Misty comes in and she placed his dog food and water onto the floor.) Misty: Here's your food and water if you're hungry and thirsty. Chief: (placing his paw onto her knee) Why, thank you, missie. Misty: (giggles and pets him) You're welcome, Chief. Copper: Thanks for the dog food, Misty. (affectionately licking Misty's face which caused her to giggle) Misty: (pets him) You're welcome, Copper. Copper: It really taste good too and all we ever eat was dog bones. Chief: Yeah, I'm also really glad you kids bought our master other food because all he ever eats was grits and fatback since he couldn't afford anything else. Misty: So, do you guys like your dog houses we've put up for you? Copper: Like them? We love them! Ash Ketchum: Chief, your leg will be better in no time, and I do hope you feel better. Chief: Well, now. (chuckles) I'm feeling better, son, since I got visitors. Maybe you kids aren't so bad after all. (sighs sadly) I gotta admit i wasn't being a good dog to you and your friends I was such a grump just like our master. Littlefoot: Yeah. We had a really bad start last year. Chief: We sure did, sonny. Princess Eilonwy: Say, Copper? Copper: Yeah, Eilonwy? Princess Eilonwy: How long have you been trained as a hunting dog? Copper: Let's just say I've been trained for 6 months, Eilonwy. Littlefoot: So, a hunting dog is always supposed to act nasty, huh? Copper: Yep. But, not towards you guys mostly wild animals besides foxes y'all mentioned. Chief: I suppose our master and I pressured Copper too much. (sighs) I hope you kids can forgive me for scaring you. Littlefoot: Sure, Chief. Ash Ketchum: (smiling) Absolutely. Taran: Of course we will. Chief: You kids are welcome to come over and visit me whenever you like. You kids don't have to be afraid of me anymore. Littlefoot; Gosh, Chief. That's very kind of you. Misty: (hugs Chief) Yeah, thanks so much, Chief. Chief: (chuckles warmly) My pleasure, kids. Shaggy: Like, all right! Scooby-Doo: (giggles) Ash Ketchum: I'd figured if Tod would've listened to us none of this would've happened. I never should've let Tod onto Mr. Slade's property. Copper: Don't fret on it, little buddy, you didn't do anything wrong, I'm sure he didn't know. And like y'all said yesterday, none of this was Tod's fault that Chief got hurt. Chief: That was actually my fault that I didn't move fast enough. I'm not as young as I used to be. Ash, Misty, and Littlefoot, I really appreciate you kids taking care of our master and taking care of me. Misty: Our pleasure, Chief. Chief: I'll watch out for trains next time. Ash Ketchum: So, Chief, next time Copper goes hunting with Mr. Slade he'd better watch out for porcupines, skunks, badgers and raccoons. Right, Copper? Copper: Oh, I definitely will. Misty: Not to mention bears, mountain lions and rattlesnakes. Copper: That too. Ash Ketchum: I think we'd better leave Chief to rest. Copper: (nods) Mmm-hmm. Littlefoot: Rest easy, Chief. Chief: Thanks, sonny. (Ash, Misty, Littlefoot, the other heroes and Copper leave the room. Chief smiled warmly knowing that Littlefoot, Ash and their friends are the first to be friends with him and Amos so, he went to sleep. Dinky and Boomer, who were listening to their conversation, fly over to Big Mama's tree in a rush.) Dinky: (joyfully excited) Big Mama! Big Mama! Guess what?! We have exciting news! They did it! Our friends did it! They calmed Copper and the hunter down and stopped them from killing Tod and Vixey! They're safe! Big Mama: They are?! Boomer: (joyfully excited) Uh, yeah! They sure are! They sure are! Our two foxy friends had been saved, thanks to Littlefoot, Ash, and everyone else! Big Mama: (relieved) Oh, thank goodness... Littlefoot: Copper, will you please excuse us? Ash Ketchum: Yeah, we'll be right back. Copper: Sure thing, guys. (The heroes come outside and went to Mrs Tweed's house.) Littlefoot and Ash: Hi, guys. Dinky: Hey, we heard you kids took care of the hunter. Boomer: Yeah, we saw you kids talk to Chief. Ash Ketchum: Chief is not just feeling better because of the vet's visit. Big Mama: It's because you kids took care of Chief and he's very happy about it. Dinky: We've never seen Chief and the hunter so happy before. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, Mr. Slade was just a lonely old man with nobody to talk to since he missed his family so much. Mr. Slade's wife passed away years ago and his four grown up kids moved out to be on their own. Littlefoot: Chief was lonely too. Misty: Yeah, we couldn't help feel sorry for Mr. Slade yesterday. Big Mama: Hmm, now we know why they're always grumpy all the time. Dinky: Yeah, it all makes sense. Misty: It sure does and Copper is back to his old happy-go-lucky self again. Boomer: Well I'll be. Littlefoot: Yep, Mr. Slade promised not to hunt in game preserves anymore. Big Mama: We heard that. Littlefoot: Although, last spring we had a bad start with Mr. Slade and Chief at first. Ash Ketchum: But, on the other hand we've met Copper first when he was a little puppy. Copper was really glad we met him first. Big Mama: That's right, boys. Now, you're starting to get to know the hunter and Chief ever since they both don't have any friends. We're very proud of you kids. Littlefoot and Ash: Thanks, Big Mama. Copper: (whistles) Hey, guys, come back over here! Heroes: Coming, Copper! (The heroes come back over to Amos' yard.) Littlefoot: What's wrong? Copper: Nothing's wrong, I like to let you guys know that the doctor just finished examaning my master's injured leg. (The doctor comes outside.) Ash Ketchum: How's Mr. Slade's leg, Doctor? Doctor; Well, young man, Mr. Slade has a minor fracture and he need's his leg wrapped up. Rest assured, boys, he's going to be fine. (Littlefoot, Ash smile warmly and Copper barks happily.) Littlefoot and Ash: Thanks, Doctor. Doctor: My pleasure, boys. Goodbye, boys. (leaves) Littlefoot and Ash: Bye, Doctor. (The other heroes talk to Widow Tweed.) Daphne Blake: You see, Mrs. Tweed, the reason why Mr. Slade is always grumpy all the time is because he missed his four kids so much since they're grown up and they live far away. Shaggy: Yeah, like poor Mr. Slade doesn't have enough money to visit them. Widow Tweed: (gasps) Is that so? Fred Jones: Yeah, that's why Ash found Mr. Slade's old family photo last winter. (gives her the photo) Widow Tweed: (gasps in surprise) My word! It is Amos! Who's that woman with him? Misty: That's his late wife. Widow Tweed: It all makes sense and who are those children anyway? Velma Dinkley: Those are Mr. Slade's four children when they were younger. Spongebob: Poor Mr. Slade missed his kids. Patrick: Yeah, we know how he feels. Cera: Mr. Slade and Copper had learned their lesson after spending one night in jail. Ducky: Yep, yep, yep, Mr. Slade had become a kind man. (Later that day, Tod is resting with Vixey near his burrow. Suddenly, they hear something in the bushes. They assume it would be Amos coming back to shoot them again. However, it turns out to be Tod's friends, Littlefoot and Ash.) Littlefoot: Hello, Tod. Ash Ketchum: Thought we'd came by to check on you and see how you're doing. Tod: Oh, hello, guys. I'm feeling alright. How's Copper and the hunter? Littlefoot: They're alright. Thanks to you. Ash Ketchum: Without you, they would've been dead by now. But one thing that questions us though: what made you reconsider going back to help them even after they tried to kill you? How did you find it in your heart to forgive them after all of that? Tod: It wasn't easy at first. I did remember Big Mama telling me that Copper will one day become my enemy. Though I didn't believe her all that time. But you know what? Littlefoot and Ash: What? Tod: I think she was somewhat right. He did become my enemy, but it was only for a short time. When I heard Copper being attacked by that angry bear, I knew I had to help him despite everything he and the hunter did. Because deep down, he was still my best friend and I've never given up on that. (sighs) I wish he'd realized that sooner. Ash Ketchum: I think he already has, Tod. Maybe he was too blinded by his own anger to see it. Tod: Maybe. Maybe so. By the way, I want to thank you for protecting me and talking Copper and the hunter out of killing me. I didn't know what would've happened if you guys hadn't shown up. Ash Ketchum: It's not a big deal, Tod. Littlefoot: We'd never let anything happen to you. (notices Vixey in the burrow) Made a new friend, Tod? Tod: Oh, yeah, this is Vixey. Vixey, these are my friends, Littlefoot and Ash. Littlefoot: Hi. Ash Ketchum: Hello there. Vixey: Oh, uh, hello. Nice to meet you. We hardly met during the hunt yesterday. Littlefoot: We know. We're sorry for dragging you into all of that trouble. Ash Ketchum: We never wanted Mr. Slade and Copper to hurt you and Tod in any other way. It's just that Copper had been Tod's best friend since they were puppies, but they were unaware of the fact that they were supposed to be sworn enemies. But because Amos trained Copper to become a hunting dog during the winter, their friendship was nearly broken apart. But one night, Copper blindly accused Tod of hurting Amos' eldest hunting dog, Chief, on purpose when it was just an accident. His owner, Mrs. Tweed, thought he'd be safe if he lived here in the game preserve. But when that crafty old man spied on her and saw what she was doing behind his back, he and Copper orchestrated that monstrous hunt. However, Petrie told us about Amos' plans, we thought we'd formulate a hunt of our own by going to the preserve before them. But in a nonviolent way. We thought we could talk them out of the slaughter, but they proved themselves to be much difficult to handle. Especially when they're both in a fit of uncontrollable anger. (sighs) We-We just wanted to make them stop. We were only trying to be peacemakers and calm their rage before things were going to get worse. We wanted to stop the violence and keep them from killing you and Tod for a pointless reason. Because the grumpy old hunter and his angry dog, who was originally his best friend, foolishly believed he did something unforgivable that drove them over the edge when he was innocent the whole time. (Vixey, though stunned and shaken from the monstrous hunt as Tod was, felt sympathetic from the story she heard. She goes up to Ash and Littlefoot and gently puts her paw on his arm.) Vixey: I understand. Tod told me everything about his troubled relationship with his best friend. And from what I've heard in that story of yours, I'm deeply grateful that you've managed to rekindle their friendship for the greater good. There was nothing any of us could've done to prevent it. There will always be people who will let their rage and anger get the best of them, and sometimes their minds cannot be changed due to being caught up in the past. But there are also people like you and your team who don't always use violence as an answer to their problems. And would find a better way to solve them in a peaceful direction. Those are the kind of people that really matter. And from what you've done yesterday, you've stayed true to yourselves and didn't add more light to the fire. I'm very proud of you for calming down the hunter and his dog. And with that, I'll forgive them for attacking me and Tod out of pure anger yesterday. Littlefoot and Ash: (stare at each with surprised looks but smile happily) Littlefoot: Thanks. Vixey: (giggles) No, thank you for everything you did to save us. And thank you for mending his friendship with Copper. (Littlefoot, Ash, Tod and Vixey hug each other in warm embrace.) Ash Ketchum: We'll miss you, Tod. Littlefoot: Yeah, so very much. Tod: I know. I'll miss you, guys, too. But as long as I'm here with Vixey, I'll be okay. Littlefoot: Will we ever see you again? Tod: Of course you will. (They continue to hug each other in an embrace as the scene goes black. Later that evening a sad Littlefoot and Ash look out the window they both sigh sadly as the flashbacks of them playing with Tod as a young fox appear then it ends as Ash sheds some tears and a sympathetic Chief and Copper come to sit by them.) Littlefoot: (sadly) Hi, Chief. Hi, Copper Copper: (concerned) Hey, guys, you okay? Littlefoot: Uh-huh. Ash Ketchum: (voice cracking) Yeah. Chief: (concerned) What's the matter, boys? Littlefoot: We're starting to miss Tod. Ash Ketchum: (trying to hold back tears) Sorry. Do you know how heart-breaking it is when best friends part ways and never see each other again afterwards? Copper: We know how y'all feel. Chief: Yeah, things can change sometimes. Littlefoot:: The game preserve is now Tod's home and he is now living with another fox named Vixey. Copper: Tod made a new friend, huh? Littlefoot: Uh-huh. Ash Ketchum: Goodbye may seem forever for Tod. (crying) (Copper hugs Ash while comforting him. Then Chief hugs Littlefoot while he's also crying.) Chief: (soothingly) Aww, there, there, sonny. Copper: (gently) It's okay, Ash. Please don't cry, little buddy. I miss Tod too, he isn't just my best friend. You're also my best friend. Here, let me wipe off those tears. (licking Ash's tears) (Chief rubs his head gently onto Ash's shoulder.) Chief: (gently) Buck up, boys. Look on the bright side. You're not the only ones who missed a best friend. Just because best friends part ways that doesn't mean you can forget about them. Right? Littlefoot and Ash Ketchum: (sadly) Right. Littlefoot: (sadly) And I hope we meet again. Chief: Take comfort, boys. We're sure ya will. (Littlefoot and Ash pull themselves together.) Littlefoot: When Tod used to live with Mrs. Tweed next door, my friends and I used to play with him. We only had two short days when we first met you as a puppy. Last winter while you guys were out on a hunting trip with Mr. Slade. Tod didn't feel like playing with us because he was too sad. Ash Ketchum: Copper, we know you're an official hunting dog now and we know your days with Tod are officially over for you. (Copper smiles warmly upon knowing that Ash understood as he remembered what he said to Tod. Chief also smiled warmly ever since Littlefoot among with his friends are thoughtful towards him ever since he and his friends didn't go near him disturbing his nap like Tod used to. Although Copper went through all the training, he and Chief can't just hunt all the time ever since their day with Littlefoot and his friends was just getting started.) Copper: Yeah, but on the other hand my days with you and your friends are not over. You know, little buddy, you and your friends can still play with me. (playfully pinning him down) Can you? (tickles Ash's stomach while cheering him up) Huh? Ash Ketchum: (giggles) Yeah, I can, especially if you're not busy hunting, you, Chief and Mr. Slade can visit my hometown? Copper: (lightly tickles him) You bet we will, little buddy. Chief: (smiling warmly) We'd love that, Ash. Littlefoot: Or maybe you guys can visit my home the great valley. Shaggy: Maybe you guys among with Mr. Slade can give you a ride in our van. Scooby-Doo: Yeah, how does that sound? Copper: Hmm, well, I don't know, guys. Aladdin: Maybe you can visit Agrabah. Jack Skellington: Or maybe come to Halloweentown. Spongebob: Why not come and visit Bikini Bottom under the ocean where Patrick and I live? Ash Ketchum: Pikachu had been my very first best friend since the beginning of my journey. Being the only child never stopped me from making several friends. Copper: Yeah, you're now friends with my master and Chief too ever since you and your friends made them happy for the first time ever. I've never seen my grumpy mentor happy before. I'll tell you what, Ash. How about you sleep with me tonight, huh? Ash Ketchum; Mr. Slade and Chief won't mind will they? Copper: No, of course they won't, Ash. Chief: Not at all. Littlefoot: I guess you'll feel better in the morning. Ash Ketchum: My mom told me I take a bath before I go to bed. Copper: Yep, it's bathtime and bedtime, little buddy. Bagheera: You're right, Copper, Ash's mother says so. Ash Ketchum: I'm ready. Bagheera: That's a good boy, Ash. (Ash is in the bathtub washing himself as Copper sits on the bathroom floor.) Copper: I'd figured you've been out in the game preserve for 2 days. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, my mom didn't like to see me get dirty whenever I go into the forest. Sometimes my mom embarrassed me by reminding me to change my underwear every day. Copper: Oh, boy, this is embarrassing. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, she really loves me very much. (Minutes later, Ash is in bed with his pajamas on while Copper lies next to him. They shared a heart felt conversation.) Ash Ketchum: I'd figured you haven't talked to me and my friends ever since you were away last winter. Our first short days with you as a puppy don't really count. Copper: I'd figured you're right, Ash. So, this is my first long day with you and your friends. We are just getting started. Ash Ketchum: You see, Copper, my friends and I met this friendly porcupine at the game preserve yesterday. Copper: A friendly porcupine? Ash Ketchum: Uh-huh, the porcupine told me and my friends that he met Tod the first night Mrs Tweed dropped him off at the forest. Plus, he also told us he had a grumpy neighbor named Mr. Digger who is a badger. Copper: Hmm, now badgers are not friendly critters, Ash, they're very cranky. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, the porcupine said that Tod's got a grumpy badger mad at him twice. So, my friends and I were told to watch out for the badger and we didn't interact with it anyway. Like, when my and friends were told that Chief didn't like his nap to be disturbed. Copper: Ash, you and your friends were so smart and thoughtful too. Ash Ketchum: Yeah, so maybe if you come over to visit, we can scuffle, play frisbee catch, swim in the lake and take long walks. Copper: I'd love that, Ash. Ash Ketchum: Great. (yawns) Copper: Tired, little buddy? Ash Ketchum: Uh-huh. (about to sleep) Good night, Copper Copper: (licks Ash's face) Good night, little buddy. (Copper goes to sleep, snuggling next to Ash. The other heroes smiled warmly upon seeing this heartwarming moment. The next morning as the sun shines and the birds sing, we then cut to inside the barn where Ash is asleep with Copper while the other heroes are asleep, Copper wakes up and stretched then licked Ash's face waking him up.) Copper: Ash, rise and shine, little buddy. Ash Ketchum: (yawns and stretches) Good morning, Copper Copper: Morning, Ash. How'd you sleep, little buddy? Ash Ketchum: Real good. (Minutes later the heroes have breakfast in the kitchen.) Littlefoot: (yawns) Good morning, Grandma and Grandpa. (Later, Big Mama is sleeping in her tree. She is abruptly awoken by Boomer's wood pecking. Dinky and Boomer are making another attempt to eat Squeaks.) Dinky: Shh, shh, shh! This is it. We got him for sure now. (They peak inside the tree, but to their surprise, they see something glowing in there.) Boomer: Oh my g-g-g-g-gosh! Dinky and Boomer: (scream in surprise) Dinky: What happened? (Suddenly, Squeaks comes out of the tree, revealing that he has gone through metamorphosis and became a butterfly.) Boomer: Hey, there's something very familiar about those eyes, Dinky. (Squeaks flies around.) Dinky: No, it couldn't be. Could it? (Squeaks flies over to Big Mama, who affectionately giggles when she observes him. Then he proceeds to fly away.) Big Mama: Bye, Squeaks! Bye! Good luck, honey! (goes back to sleep for a bit, but hears Amos' complaining about his injured leg since he tumbled into his own bear trap) Amos Slade: Ouch, hey, you're killing me! Ouch! (groans) Widow Tweed: (tending his leg, that was hurt) Amos Slade, will you hold still? (Amos Slade: Ow!) Delia Ketchum: Yes, Amos, you're behaving like a child. Amos Slade: Well, for Gosh sakes! You're hurting my foot, ladies! Widow Tweed: Nonsense! Your foot is mending fine. You'll soon be yourself. Oh, land sakes! I don't know if we'll like that. (Mrs. Tweed and Delia share a good laugh before resuming tending Amos' leg) Amos Slade: Oh, be careful! Delia Ketchum: Okay. (laughs) Just hold still, silly. Amos Slade: Ouch! Oh! Ah! Oh! Oh! (groans) (Littlefoot and the gang, while having a picnic, witness this and giggle, seeing it as a harmless yet friendly argument now that Amos is a humbler, kinder man now.) Chief: (scoffs) He's sure makin' a big fuss over a little old hurt leg. (goes back to sleep) Littlefoot: (giggles) Sure glad the doctor said that Amos' injury was a minor fracture. (Ash chuckles softly and Copper shakes his head smiling.) Fred Jones: Mr. Slade, sir, the gang thought we'd go out of our way and give you this. (gives him a bus ticket) We think it's time you go and....pay your family a visit. We believe they miss you as much as you miss them. Daphne Blake: If you want, you can bring your dogs with them. I bet Copper would love to see the little kids in your family for the first time. Velma Dinkley: And maybe play with them. (Amos gasped happily while Copper barks happily.) Amos Slade: (sheds tears) Why-Why thank you, children. Thank you, everybody. Widow Tweed: (gasps) (Our heroes smile warmly. Mrs. Tweed, having not seen her grumpy neighbor that happy before, was deeply touched at this kind gesture and begins crying tears of happiness.) Widow Tweed: (overly emotional) Oh! (blows her nose) This is so beautiful! I had no idea he has a big family too! Oh, you kids made him so happy! (cries emotionally) Amos Slade: Now, I've also got something to say too. As you all know, I haven't always been the friendliest man in the world nor the friendliest neighbor ever. And I would like to apologize for that. But after all that has happened, you've helped me open myself up to the world again. Now, I want to give something to all of you in return. For starters, you're no longer forbidden to play with my hunting dogs. You can play with them anytime and any day as often as you want! And you're also welcome to visit me as often as you want! (our heroes gasps with excitement) Heroes: (cheer happily) SpongeBob and Patrick: Yay!! Misty: That's so sweet of you! Amos Slade: You've all showed me that hunting dogs are more than just what they're bred to do. They're just like every other dogs. And like most dogs, they're also bred for other things. And one of those is connecting with humans. Including children. (our heroes are emotionally touched by this) I wish I'd realized it sooner. Ash Ketchum: Thank you so much, Mr. Slade. (hugs Amos and he hugs back) Amos Slade: (chuckles warmly) My pleasure, son. Eilonwy: Thank you very, very much! Taran: (shakes his hand) Yes, sir, thank you! (Our heroes walk up and all say "thank you" to him. It was something Amos had not gotten before since his own children moved out and lived on their own. The old man chuckled warmly and hugged them tightly like they were his grandchildren. Copper walks up to the heroes and hugs Ash.) Copper: I love you, Ash. And I love you, guys. (licking Ash's face) Littlefoot: We love you too, Copper. Cera: Hey, Copper, let's have some fun! Copper: Okay, let's go! Ducky: How about some hide and seek? Patrick: Oh, goody, hide and seek! Daffy Duck: This time no interruptions. (Littlefoot, Ash, the other heroes and Copper play with each other. Ash giggles as he looks for Copper.) Copper: (jumps out from the bush) Boo! (laughs) Gotcha! Ash Ketchum: (laughs) You sure did, Copper! Amos Slade: (to Delia) Hey, Delia? Delia Ketchum: Yes, Amos? Amos Slade: I, uh.... Listen, I-I-I know what I did was- You see.... The way I've behaved towards you, your husband, and Professor Oak back then... w-was inexcusable and unforgivable. And I know it's too late for me to reearn my visitation rights to the Pokémon world. But if it makes things better for everybody and for your son, do you think that it's too late for us to maybe, you know....start over? (Brief silence) Delia Ketchum: Hmm.... (thinks things over for a little while) You know what, Amos? I would say.... it's never too late! (Everyone gasps in surprise.) Heroes: YAY!!!! (cheers happily and dances with joy) (Copper playfully tackles Ash and laughs as he affectionately licks his face.) Ash Ketchum: Hey, Copper? Copper: Hmm? Ash Ketchum: After all that you and Mr. Slade put Tod and his mate, Vixey, through, do you think that they still forgave you? Especially after Tod defended you from that bear? Copper: (feels sad when he mentioned it but thinks it over) I've been asking that question for the past two days. And I always wondered whether or not Tod and that other fox had forgiven me and my master for all we did. But you know what? Ash Ketchum: What? Copper: I believed they already have. Tod has been my best friend since we were puppies. And no matter how far apart we are, we'll always remain best friends forever. (Littlefoot, Ash, Scooby, Bugs, and the gang are touched by this heart-warming gesture. Copper then goes to sleep, but not before recalling the moment where he and Tod first met as little pups.) Young Tod: (voiceover) Copper..., you're my very best friend. Young Copper: (voiceover) And you're mine too, Tod. Young Tod: (voiceover) And we'll always be friends forever. Won't we? Young Copper: (voiceover) Yeah, forever. (Littlefoot gasps and sees something in amazement. He gets everyone else's attention, and, to their amazement, they see Tod and Vixey looking down at them on the hilltop. They all smile warmly, but knowing that even if they'll never see each other again, Tod and Copper will always remain friends forever. For no matter how apart or how different they are, nothing will stand in between them and sever their bonding friendship ever again.) THE END
