Editing Knock It Off/Transcript

* Professor Utonium: (on the phone) The city of Townsville? It's about fifteen miles east of the 101. Take the 210 to the Harbor Freeway exit south. It's the third house on the left. Bye!
* Misty: Who was that on the phone, Professor?
* Pikachu: Pika?
* Professor Utonium: Huh? Oh, that was my old college buddy and roommate, Dick Hardly.
* Brock: Dick Hardly?
* Pikachu: Pika?
* Professor Utonium: Yes, Professor Richard Hardly. But everyone called him Dick for short. (goes to flashback of Utonium's college days) Aw, gosh. I remember those late nights, working side by side on our lab assignments.
* Young Dick: Hey, Utonium, make sure you finish our homework before I get back.
* (Opening the door partway, he finds an attractive coed waiting outside.)
* Young Dick: Hel-lo, Betty. (He opens fully. A squat, older, frumpy-looking woman is there too.)
* Coed (Betty): I brought my mom along. I hope that's okay.
* Young Dick: (over his shoulder) Hey, Utonium, I got a new assignment..
* (We go to Utonium studying in a science ed class with his roomate.)
* Professor Utonium: (voiceover) Yes. He was a veritable wellspring of resourcefulness.
* (Dick taps Utonium's shoulder.)
* Young Utonium: Huh?
* (Dick cheats and switches flasks with Utonium's. Dick whistles innocently for a moment before giving a broad, reassuring grin. Unaware of the switch, Student Prof adds a drop of a chemical to Dick's flask, only to have the mixture explode in his face. A complete backfire. Student Dick, meanwhile, adds a drop to the Professor's, causing it to fizz and emit a miniature fireworks display complete with American flags sprouting from the flask's mouth. He feigns surprise, then smiles in triumph as the rest of the class - Student Prof included - gathers around the bench to applaud him, with no one, not even the Professor, aware of Dick's little switch to get the credit and glory himself instead of the Professor. We go to Dick and Utonium looking at the stars through telescopes)
* Professor Utonium: (voiceover) We explored and discovered the universe together.
* Young Utonium: Wow! This is so exciting, Dick! We can see so much with these telescopes!
* Young Dick: (he's actually looking at beautiful women through his telescope) Yeah, exciting....

(Wavering dissolve back to the Professor in the present.)

* Professor: Yeah, those were exciting days. (The doorbell rings.) Oh...there he is now!

* (Outside, at the bell by the front door. A finger presses it a few times. Cut to behind the owner of said finger and turn up quickly to the head. The individual wears black moccasins and pants, a long white coat similar to the Professor's, and carefully styled blond hair in a small ponytail. When he stops ringing, he throws a distrustful glance back at the camera - it is Dick, but his glasses are now tinted blue instead of pink.)

* (Next to the door is a mailbox filled with the day's deliveries. He pulls the stack out and starts to look it over. On top is a magazine entitled Science Fun. When he speaks, he sounds much as he did during the flashback, but a little deeper.)

* Dick: (to himself, contemptuously) Geez, still into the science stuff, huh? What a geek.

* (The door suddenly opens, and the Professor gets a good look at his old roommate.)

* Professor: Dick!

* Dick: (brightly, handing him the mail) Oh! I got your mail here.

* (Cut to just inside the door. Now we can see that Dick's coat has no pocket and a collar that resembles the style he wore in college. He wears a pink shirt underneath.)

* Professor: Oh, thank you.

* Dick: Yeah, you should probably pay that bill pretty soon.

* Professor: Um, thanks. So what brings you to Townsville?

* Dick: Oh...I was just in the neighborhood and wanted to see what the old roommate was up to. So, you gonna let me in or what?

* Professor: Sure, sure, come on in.

* Dick: (quickly shaking hands, walking in past him o.c.) Wow, look at this place! Still living in the '60s, huh? It's like we never left college. (Cut to him, rounding a corner.) So, what you working on these days? How you making money? Where's the lab?

* Professor: Oh, you don't want to go in there. The girls and their friends are cleaning it up. It's a mess. (Dick is now at the open lab door.)

* Dick: Yes, I do. I want to see what you've been up to. (addressing himself into the lab) All right, kids, go play somewhere else. Your old man and me have some business to...dis...cuss.

* (On the end of this, the sound of the girls in flight is heard, and his eyes go wide as he trails off upon getting his first look at them personally. They are zipping around the lab, putting the place in order at top speed. Dick stares, speechless, as they keep working. Blossom runs the vacuum cleaner, and Bubbles picks up a large piece of equipment to give her a clear shot at the floor underneath. Dick grins, now watching Buttercup eye a collection of cobwebs and blow a gust of air to sweep them up. This turns into a small tornado that works its way toward Blossom and then dissipates, leaving the collected dust in a pile. She zaps this with her eye lasers, vaporizing every grain.)

* (Now dollar signs appear in Dick's eyes as he has gotten a truly greedy, money-making idea. Pull back as the Professor approaches from the hall and puts a hand on his shoulder.)

* Professor: I see you've met my girls.

* Girls: Nice to meet you, Professor Dick.

* Dick: (to Professor) What do you mean, your girls? You mean you made those things?

* Professor: Um...well...technically. But I am their father.

* Dick: (grabbing his lapels, very animated) You're sitting on a gold mine here! I knew you would turn one of your little inventions into a cash cow. We could make a fortune with these things!

* Professor: Uh, Dick...

* Dick: This is bigger than both of us. I mean, big!

* Professor: (sternly) Dick...

* Dick: I'm talking global, baby. The Japanese will eat these things up! Hey, you think we could market them as a food?

Professor Utonium: Dick, Dick, DICK!!

Professor Dick: What?!

Professor Utonium: May I have a word with you outside, old buddy? (they go outside) Listen, I don't appreciate you referring to my girls in that manner.

Professor Dick: Come on!

Professor Utonium: Come on, nothing! You just keep clear of me and my kids, pal. (walks back in the house) Consider our little visit over! (slams the door in anger)

Professor Dick: We could make a fortune. Come on, Utonium, let's talk (Utonium closes the blinds) about it... Hmmm... (smiling thoughtfully, an idea manifesting in his brain) ...hmmm...

Misty: Hey, guys, did any of you notice something a bit off about Professor Utonium's so-called "roommate"?

Piglet: Yeah. He was acting a bit weird to the girls when he first met them.

Pooh Bear: And he certainly was very rude to us when we tried to make a good impression on him.

Ash Ketchum: I'll say. What's with the sudden change of attitude upon our first meeting with that guy? He suddenly became greedy and rotten for an odd reason.

Brock: Almost became an adult version of Princess Morbucks. Except he's a man.

Pikachu: Pikachu.

Professor Dick: Sales are dropping in Tokyo. Cut back on the sugar by half!

*Blossom: Let's go see Dick and get this all straightened out.
*(They take off; cut to the factory, smoke pouring from all its chimneys, as they approach it. It is nighttime again.)
*Blossom: Nobody lies to the Powerpuff Girls!
*(Cut to a long shot inside, behind Dick at the balcony railing, and zoom in on each of his next three words.)
*Dick Hardly: Faster, faster, FASTER! (A crash from o.c. startles him into turning around.)
*Girls: (from o.c.) Hey, Dick!
*(Camera shift: now we - and he - see them at an open door, at the far end of the balcony, and they are furious.)
*Blossom: You're a liar, Professor Dick!
*Bubbles: A liar, liar, pants on fire, Professor Dick! (Dick chuckles wickedly.)
*Dick Hardly: Heh, heh, heh! I'm glad you came, girls. (almost psychotic) I need more Chemical X!
*Blossom: We'll never give you any more Chemical X.
*Dick Hardly: (composed) Well, that's just fine, (psychotic) because I was planning to take it!
*Blossom: Never! In fact, we want the Chemical X we gave you back! Where is it?!
*(Dick's face goes slack and his eyes dart to one side in paranoia when he hears this and remembers what they are referring to; cut to the bottle of Chemical X the Girls originally gave him some time ago sitting on a railing. He makes a dash for it, snatching it up an instant before they can take grab it first and remove his primary means to continue producing his bad knockoffs of them. Now he backs into a corner as they close in on him to try and take it back, by force if necessary now that he has nowhere to run with the bottle to escape them and stop them from ending his little moneymaking scheme to ruin their reputation with all his bad imitations of them.)
*Bubbles: Come on, Dick! (Close-up of him, sweating and panicky.)
*Buttercup: (from o.c.) Return it now, Dick! (His eyes dart from side to side, desperate to find a way out of his predicament.)
*Bubbles: (from o.c.) Hand it over! (Back to the girls.)
*Blossom: Don't be selfish!
*(Faced with no other alternative to his situation with his back literally to the wall, Dick stuffs the bottle into his mouth sideways; its ends bulge under his cheeks.)
*Dick Hardly: (muffled, shrugging) I don't know what you're talking about.
*Blossom: You still have it. (He shakes his head, trying to deny the obvious truth, but doing a very poor job of it.) It's in your mouth!
*(His jaw and throat muscles start to work, and after a bit of straining, the bottle turns right side up and slides down his gullet.)
*Dick Hardly: (speaking normally) What are you talking about? I don't have anything. See?
*(He opens his mouth and points into it, showing it to be empty, and crosses his arms smugly. The girls regard the whole display of gastronomic gymnastics with how Dick disposed of the evidence with some puzzlement.)
*Buttercup: Whoa. He swallowed it.
*Bubbles: (to Dick) Are you ok?
*Dick Hardly: What? Of course, I'm okay. I've never felt better in my life.
*(His eyes go very wide, and he pitches to the floor, jerking and convulsing, as truth to the lie he just told. It is clear the Chemical X has started to affect Dick upon being swallowed by him moments earlier. Cut to a long shot of the girls, now very unnerved, as his shadow rises from the floor and throws itself over them. We hear him screaming in agony and see the shadow collapse; the girls gasp, and the camera cuts to him in the middle of another fit. Pink foam bubbles from his mouth and his hair is askew. After several seconds, the fit subsides, the foam disappears, and his coiffure restores itself.)
*Dick Hardly: Whoo! (standing up, hair untidy again) You know, for a second there, I thought I was gonna turn into a monster or something.
*(As he says this last, his voice starts to sound very strained, and his body initiates an alarming transformation. Large growths form on his back, and his arms and legs begin to swell with new muscle mass; tentacles sprout from his chest, and the skin of his forearm becomes horny green hide, with his coat sleeve turning a lighter green. His ponytail increases in length and becomes another tentacle, and one shoulder of the coat rips away to expose more of that dark hide. His legs bulge with new muscle, causing the moccasins and pants to fall away in shreds and expose light green skin. Through this sequence, we hear Dick groaning and growling like an animal as it sounds as if his feral, primal instincts have taken over. Overhead view of the girls, watching the metamorphosis in total shock. The camera turns around from them to show Dick's new appearance from the Chemical X mutating him from his original human body into something truly monstrous. He has become very muscular and now stands all the way up to the ceiling; six tentacles are rooted in his chest, a seventh where his ponytail was. His forearms, abdomen, and shoulders are armored with the dark green hide, while the rest of his body has the light green tone. All his clothes are gone, replaced only by black fur at his pelvis. His glasses have been replaced by black shades, and his hair is more or less in its old style. Deformed Powerpuff rejects gather at a railing to watch, curious to see what is to come between their creator and the original templates they were made from. Many of them have no hair and resemble the girls in only the most basic details. Blossom and Bubbles square off against Dick; he lashes out with a chest tentacle and grabs Blossom. The tentacle starts to glow and drain her life force, but not her Chemical X once it has hold of her.)
*Blossom: Bubbles!
*(Bubbles fires her eye lasers, cutting the tentacle and freeing her sister. Now Buttercup moves in and catches Dick off-guard in the back of the head, knocking him down o.c.)
*Buttercup: Don't mess with the real Powerpuff— (gets whacked from behind by Dick's ponytail tentacle snake) Uhh! (falls to the floor)
*Bubbles: Buttercup!
*(Dick, back on his feet and with the severed appendage regenerated, whips his ponytail tentacle down at the girls. Buttercup spreads her legs to avoid its strike; it crashes through the floor and emerges behind her. Pulling loose, it now targets Blossom but misses and comes up behind her as well. Cut to outside the chain-link gate, now closed, as headlights play over it, then to just outside the Professor's car with him in the driver's seat - he and our heroes have arrived on the scene to confirm their suspicion about the girls and Dick when they left earlier to speak to him after he mentioned the events in Germany he heard on the radio. Our heroes jump out of the car to go investigate the factory. In the windshield, we see the reflection of what the professor sees as our heroes are seeing: the factory, with more explosions emanating from within. The professor's face registers shock, then righteous anger. As for our heroes, they're just as surprised as Utonium is. They look upon each other with serious anger and determination on their faces, for they know what has to be done. The girls are in trouble, and they need their help. But in order to save them, they must make Dick pay for the trouble he caused. Without a word being spoken, our heroes jump back into the car. The professor floors the gas pedal and charges o.c.. We hear a crash, and the "KEEP OUT" sign - battered and crumpled from the impact - clatters to the ground. Now the camera points along the road as he drives toward the factory, the smashed gate hanging open. Inside, the girls hit the floor and skid across it, cutting furrows as they go, having finally been bested in battle by the mutated Dick. Dick approaches the spectators at the railing; a lever protrudes from the wall nearby. He now speaks with a deeper, reverberating tone that radiates sheer fury to match his new form.)
* Dick Hardly: (sweeping rejects aside) Get this junk out of here! (grabbing lever) You will give me your Chemical X!
*(He pulls the lever; the girls look up in surprise as a large glass dome slams down, imprisoning them. It is fitted with electrodes and has a large hose attached to its top. The equipment crackles, and greenish mist and white sparks pour from the hose. Close-up of Buttercup; the sparks disappear when they touch her, and the normal color starts to fade from her arm, which turns a sickly pale with greenish spots. The change works its way up toward her shoulder. A large tank starts to fill with the compound Dick is after to make more of his corrupt clones of the real deals.)
* Brock: (pounds on the door) Open up or you're dead meat, Dick! (angrily continues to pound on the door) You better not be hurting the girls in there! (continues pounding the door)
* Eeyore: He's not answering.
* Piglet: M-M-Maybe he's not home.
* Ash Ketchum: No, he's in there alright. I can tell.
* Misty: Well, we're not gonna waste our time standing around talking about who's in there or not! We have to get in!
* Professor Utonium: I say break it down!
* Ash Ketchum: Alright, let's kick it open! (rapidly rams and kicks on the door)
* Tigger and Rabbit: (grunts as they try to break the door open)
* Brock: (grunts as he breaks down the door with a fire extinguisher)

* Professor Utonium: Girls? (Dick roars) Dick?!
* Pooh Bear: Professor Dick?!
* Tigger: He turned into a monster?!
* Piglet: Oh, d-d-dear! (hides behind Pooh)
* Professor Dick: You're too late!
* Professor Utonium: Girls!
* Ash Ketchum: Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup!
* Brock: You girls okay?! Come on, speak to us!
* Misty: Please respond....!
* Blossom: (though regained consciousness, she speaks weakly) Professor....Pooh Bear....Ash....Guys....Help....(gets drained again)
* Pikachu: Pika Pika!
* Rabbit: (gasps) Oh, dear! No! (stutters) Those poor, little girls! We gotta do something! Come on, everyone! Think! Quickly! We need a plan!
* Professor Dick: (cackles)
* Professor Utonium: Dick, no! Stop! You're destroying them!
* Ash Ketchum: Professor Dick, what is the meaning of this outrage?! Have you gone mad?!
* Tigger: Yeah, Brunos! What's gotten into you?!
* Misty: You're disgusting!
* Pikachu: (angrily) Pika Pika!!
* Rabbit: We demand an explanation to this madness this instant!
* Professor Dick: (cackles) I'm glad you ask that. (pulls down the chart showing how high the progress sales of his Powerpuff Girls X-treme are going) You see, after Utonium kicked me out of his house the other week, I came up with a perfect chance to make a fortune. So, I tricked the girls into stealing some Chemical X from him. And now, thanks to them, I've got all the Chemical X I need to continue my process. The sales of my product, the Powerpuff Girls X-treme, are skyrocketing to the maximum and it is amazing! So, I thought if I can make my product with the same formula my college buddy used for his kids, I could make millions! So far, it was a hit! And I owe it all to them! (cackles) I must say it feels pretty good!
* Brock: Dick, making money is one thing but look at what you're doing to the girls! You're draining their Chemical X out of them to the point of dying! That's killing them! This is insane madness! They're more than just an invention to Utonium! They're his children!
* Misty: Dick, look around you! Look at everything you've done to your employees and to your own creations! Do you not see how wrong this is?! All you're doing to swindling people of their money for your twisted inventions! And that is sickening!
* Ash Ketchum: (holds up a large mirror) Look at yourself, Dick! Look at what you're becoming! Is this really what you want to be? A ruthless, greedy, cold-hearted monster who swindles his customers' money while making his employees and inventions suffer? Is that what you want? Is it?
* (Professor Dick gets a bit teary-eyed and starts to cry.)
* Rabbit: Dick, it's not too late to atone for what you've done. We can help you if you let the girls go and turn yourself in to the police.
* Winnie the Pooh: Sure. And Professor Utonium can work on an antidote that can change you back to normal.
* Piglet: Considering you were his college buddy and friend.
* Professor Dick: Maybe. (being the cold-hearted, greedy man he is, turns evil again) Maybe not! But that does not concern any of you! (whacks away the large mirror Ash was holding) I don't need any of your help and I don't need saving! I'm not some sad, helpless man who's waiting to be rescued! I wanted to be this way! I've always been a monster! Both inside and out! And I don't care if the girls are just children! I will continue making a profit with their Chemical X! Whether you all like it or not! Now, all of you stand aside or be crushed by my wrath!
* Professor Utonium: We can't, Dick! We won't!
* Ash Ketchum: Never!
* Brock: Not a chance!
* Misty: We won't let you! You're just a bully, Dick!
* Professor Utonium: Please, take me instead! I'll do anything you want!
* Pooh Bear: What?!
* Tigger: (stutters) What?!
* Piglet: What?!
* Rabbit: What?!
* Eeyore: What?
* Misty and Brock: What?!
* Pikachu: Pika?!
* Ash Ketchum: What?! Oh, no, no, no! You can't be serious, Utonium!
* Professor Utonium: It's for the safety of my girls, guys.
* Professor Dick: Am I to understand that you're sacrificing your life for theirs, and you'll stay here and make X forever?
* Brock: No, Professor, you wouldn't do that, would you?
* Misty: Please, no, Professor....
* Pikachu: Pikachu...
* Pooh Bear: Professor.....
* Professor Utonium: (brief silence) Yes.... (everyone gasps) Just don't hurt the girls. They're my family.
* Professor Dick: You fool! Why should I let them go when I have you both?! Take him away!
* (His knock-off creations jump down and attempt to take Utonium away)
* Ash Ketchum: Pikachu, Thunderbolt!
* (Pikachu zaps them away with Thunderbolt)
* Ash Ketchum: If this is the way it's gotta be, Professor Dick, then you led us no choice. (sees the large tank filling up with Chemical X) I'm going to have to fight fire with fire. (runs over to the tank)
* Brock: Ash, what are you doing?!
* Misty: Ash!
* Pikachu: Pika Pi!
* (Ash takes an injection needle from a table and stops at the large tank of Chemical X.)
* Ash Ketchum: You want Chemical X so badly, Dick? I'll give you some Chemical X! (jabs the tank, fills the injector with Chemical X, and injects himself with it)
* (Pooh Bear and his friends exclaim in fear)
* Pikachu: Pika, Pi!!!
* (Ash grunts in pain. His body starts to shake as he feels an unpleasant feeling inside. He begins to growl. He grows fur, becomes taller almost the same height as Dick's, his hands and feet turn into paws, his fingernails and toenails turn into claws, he sprouts a tail, his eyes turn bright yellow, his body becomes bulkier, and his face becomes a canine-like snout with sharp fangs. Dick was horrified and surprised that he is meeting his match. Ash has turned into giant, mutated, wolf monster with the Chemical X. But the difference is that he gained the ability to actually speak and special powers from the substance.)
* Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): Dick, I challenge you to a match! A one-on-one match that will determine the fate of Utonium and the girls! But only on the condition if the loser accepts the final results of the fight! Got it?!
* Professor Dick: (growls) Very well, then! You asked for it!
* Pikachu: Pika Pika!
* Piglet: Ash don’t do it!

* Prof. Utonium: Girls, I love you!
* Girls: We love you too! (They faint)
* Professor Dick: I said take him away, you mutants! Huh?
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): (grunts) What?
*Knock-off Powerpuff Girls: (chanting) Dick!
*Knock-off Blossom: You never gave us love!
*Knock-off Buttercup: Where was our love?
*Professor Dick: Get back! I am your master!
*Knock-off Bubbles: Only a master of evil, Dick!
*Professor Dick: No, no!
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): (gasps and grunts as he gets up and regains his strength)
*Professor Dick: NOOO!!!!
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): (roars loudly and charges at Dick, colliding with him)
(Ash then throws numerous punches, kicks, and slashes at Dick. Then he kicks him forward, making him knock backward to a wall. He then jumps up, curls into a tight ball and lowed bodily into Dick. Then he bounces off a far wall to deliver a series of high-speed blows. As the stricken Dick tumbles slowly toward the floor, Ash zips over, almost too fast to see, and brings Dick hand up for a vicious open-palm uppercut. The razor-edged blow does not miss, sending Dick even higher and giving Ash plenty of time to drive him back down with a stomping kick. Dick then crashes to the ground and his knock-offs cover him. Using his newly received superpowers from the Chemical X, Ash then charges energy within his hand, and it forms an energy sphere.)
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): Time to accept your defeat, Dick! Now fall!
*Pikachu: (sparks sputter from his cheeks) PIKA, PIKA!!
(Ash throws his energy blast down at Dick.)
*Professor Dick: No, no, no, NOO!!! (gets hit by the blast and is incinerated) NOOO!!!! (explodes in green fire)
*(The knock-off Powerpuffs pull the lever up and release the original Powerpuff girls.)
*Knock-off Blossom: Get out before it's too late.
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): Oh, yes, of course. (leans down and lowers his hand) Let's go, everybody.

*Factory workers: Help! Help! Somebody help us! Help! Help! (yelling and screaming for help)
*Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): (grunts as he lifts the beam up) Come on! Everybody, this way!
*(The factory workers make haste and escape for their lives out of the burning factory, running past Professor Utonium, the unconscious Powerpuff girls, and our heroes. Ash, with very little much time to waste, takes the group out of the burning factory before it becomes engulfed with green flames. Professor Utonium, who was holding the girls the whole time, hugs them tightly and cries somberly, mourning for them. The end-shot background dissolves partially into view, then disappears. Normal color starts to return to the girls' feet, working its way toward their heads; the spots give way to it as well. When they have completely regained their color, their eyes pop open, alive.)

**Girls: (ecstatically) Professor!

**Professor: Girls! (hugging them again) I thought I lost you.  
 
*( The Girls were glad to see the professor and their friends. They turn over to Ash and the were frightened on his mutated wolf monster)
 
**Blossom: Ash! What happened to you!? 
 
** Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): Well, let’s just say that I injected myself with the Chemical X in order to stop Dick and save you girls. 
 
** Buttercup: Ash, you did that to save us? 
 
* ( Ash nods his head) 
 
**Bubbles: Ash, you didn’t have injected yourself in order to save us. 
 
** Ash Ketchum (mutated wolf monster): I know but you girls our still our friends and friends help each other out until the very end. 
 
** Girls:(smiled at Ash) Thanks Ash! ( Ash smiled at the Girls as well and hugs them) 
 
** Rabbit: Well, at least the crisis is over. Professor, do you still have that Antidote X for Ash? 

**Professor Utonium: Yes as matter of fact I do. (Professor reach out his case and got the needle of Antidote X) Now hold still Ash. This won’t hurt a bit (injects Antidote X into Ash's bloodstream) There. That should do it.
*Ash Ketchum: (groans as he mutates back to normal with still his clothes and hat all torn up from the transformation) Thanks, Professor! 
 
* Pikachu: Pika, Pi!( jumps into Ash’s arms and hugs him) 
 
* Ash Ketchum: Pikachu! I’m sorry made you worried.( Ash looks to his friends) Guys, I’m sorry. For now on, I’ll never injected myself with that formula again. (Heroes walk to Ash and they hug him)

*Bubbles: But what happened to Professor Dick and the other Powerpuff Girls?
