Kane (WWF Attitude Era)
Kane, portrayed by Glenn Jacobs, made his terrifying debut during the WWF Attitude Era in 1997. Known as The Big Red Machine, Kane was introduced as the vengeful younger brother of The Undertaker. This storyline revolved around Kane's traumatic past, where he was presumed to have perished in a fire set by The Undertaker, only to return as a monstrous figure seeking revenge.
Kane's presence in the WWF Attitude Era was marked by his supernatural aura, his signature red-and-black attire, and his ability to control fire, often symbolized by pyrotechnics. His silent, masked persona added to his mystique, making him one of the most feared and iconic figures in professional wrestling.
Kane quickly made an impact in the WWF by interfering in the first-ever Hell in a Cell Match at Badd Blood: In Your House (1997), attacking his brother The Undertaker and setting up one of the most legendary rivalries in WWE history. Over the years, Kane alternated between being a fearsome villain and a heroic antihero, often allying with The Undertaker to form the iconic Brothers of Destruction.
He achieved notable success during the Attitude Era, capturing multiple championships, including the WWF Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Hardcore Championship, and several Tag Team Titles. Kane also participated in unforgettable storylines, such as his partnership-turned-rivalry with X-Pac and his entanglements with The Corporation and The Ministry of Darkness.
Kane's character was known for his destructive chokeslams, devastating Tombstone Piledrivers, and his resilience in the ring. His storylines often blended horror, drama, and action, cementing his place as one of the most legendary figures of the WWF Attitude Era.
