He is a big evil diesel engine with a semi-sentient roof-top, hydraulic claw, which he has named "'''Pinchy'''". He is also Thomas and Gordon's archenemy.

== Bio ==
He and the Grand Duke of Owls tried to destroy Lady the Lost Engine, seeing that steam engines are untrustworthy to today's standards or railway industry. but Thomas, Lady, Burnett, Pooh and his friends managed to defeat them by making them falling of the viaduct and into a barge of sludge. Diesel 10 had been to [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor Sodor] a long time ago, creating problems for the steam engines. He chased down [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Lady Lady] - the engine who kept Sodor alive - and made her crash. In the years that followed, Lady's caretaker, [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Burnett_Stone Burnett Stone], took her into hiding, trying desperately, but failing to bring her back up to steam.

Diesel 10 returned many years later, intending to destroy Lady for good. He brought with him two lapdogs, [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Splatter_and_Dodge Splatter and Dodge], who were present when the boss was scheming. He was first seen in the movie charging past [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Thomas Thomas] and [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Gordon Gordon] at [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Maithwaite Maithwaite]. He also dumped sneezing powder all around [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Tidmouth_Sheds Tidmouth Sheds] so that the wind from [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Harold Harold]'s blades would blow it all over the place. Diesel 10 had very little success with his plans - [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Mr._Conductor Mr. Conductor] caused Pinchy to throw him safely onto bags of flour, and during a speech on "how to stop being stupid", he caused a coal chute to empty its contents on top of him at [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/The_Coaling_Plant The Coaling Plant]. By using special coal from Sodor, Burnett Stone was able to bring Lady back to life. Diesel 10 was determined to attack her, but lost the aid of Splatter and Dodge. Burnett, Lady, and Thomas found themselves being chased by Diesel 10 over an unsafe viaduct. The center of the viaduct collapsed, and while [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Thomas Thomas] and Lady were able to cross safely, Diesel 10 was too large and fell into a passing barge below.

How Diesel 10 got back to Sodor is a mystery. It is likely that [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sir_Topham_Hatt Sir Topham Hatt] decided to give him another chance. In [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Calling_All_Engines%21 Calling All Engines!], he was working at [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/The_Scrapyards the scrapyards], using Pinchy to load rusted metal into trucks. The sight of him returning caused Thomas and [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Percy Percy] to shudder in fright. Thomas and [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Mavis Mavis] went to tell steam engines and Diesels all over the island to meet at the coaling plant, a chance and hope for them to work together and get the new [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor_Airport Sodor Airport] built on time. When Thomas went over to tell Diesel 10 about the meeting, he got scared to his wheels. Not sure if Diesel 10 would want to help the steam engines anyway, due to their difficulties in the past, Thomas sped away as fast as he could. Construction of the airport was almost complete when a tower collapsed, cracking the runway and blocking the tracks. With [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Harvey Harvey] too far away to clear the line, Thomas took a chance and decided to ask Diesel 10. Convincing his former archenemy that helping the other engines would prove how useful he was, Thomas returned with help to clear the line.

In The Great Discovery, Diesel 10 and a number of other Diesels later waited in [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Centre_Island_Quarry the quarry yard] to hear if Thomas had been found in the days leading up to the reopening of [[Great Waterton]].

At the end of Misty Island Rescue, unbeknownst to the steam engines, Diesel 10 was seen on a bridge overlooking the [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor_Search_and_Rescue_Centre Sodor Search and Rescue Centre] threatening them, calling them "silly steamies".

In Day of the Diesels, he later tricked a lonely [[Percy]] into helping him take over the [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor_Steamworks Sodor Steamworks]. When Percy had a falling-out with Thomas, Diesel 10 used him to attempt to have the [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor_Dieselworks Sodor Dieselworks]  repaired. After convincing Thomas to go to the Dieselworks, Diesel 10 had Percy lead him and the other Diesels to the [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sodor_Steamworks Steamworks]. When they arrived, Diesel 10 betrayed Percy and took over the Steamworks. He retained the comedic humour that could be seen in Thomas and the Magic Railroad; for example, when he rolls back into his shed, the doors close on him too early, leaving him stuck for a few seconds before goes all the way back into the shed and the doors close completely. When Percy went to the Dieselworks to rescue Thomas, Percy saw that sparks from "Pinchy" had set the main shed ablaze. After saving Thomas and putting out the fire, Percy led the steam engines to the Steamworks. After a brief argument between the engines, the Fat Controller arrived. Percy told him that the Diesels needed a new Dieselworks, so the Fat Controller had the steam engines and Diesels work together to rebuild it. Diesel 10 is now in charge of the Dieselworks, but [[Den and Dart]] run it when he is not around.

In the [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Seventeenth_season seventeenth season], Diesel 10 was stealing Christmas decorations from the Steam Team at [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Tidmouth_Sheds Tidmouth Sheds] with [[Paxton]]'s help because he thought no one liked diesels. That afternoon, Percy caught him stealing the last of the decorations and bravely raced after the evil diesel in an attempt to get the decorations back, enlisting Edward, Thomas, James, Henry, Gordon, Toby, and Emily to help him. After taking back the decorations, Paxton told Diesel 10 that Sir Topham Hatt gave them a truckload of decorations for the Dieselworks. At the end, he decided to give the Steamies back the decorations, though most of them were crushed by Pinchy, so to compensate, he gave them the diesels' decorations because they considered [http://ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Sidney_%28Diesel%29 Sidney] to be a good enough decoration.

== Appearance ==
Diesel 10 is a diesel engine that everyone fears. He has eight wheels, oval buffers and a hydraulic claw on his roof, which he calls "Pinchy". Diesel 10 is painted ochre with tan stripes along his sides. His buffers and "Pinchy" are painted dark brown.

== Personality ==
Diesel 10 is ten out of ten for devious deeds and brutal strength, and a blast from the past who hates steam engines. Diesel 10 is also an evil, conniving, manipulative, bullying and raving diesel locomotive. He absolutely despises steam engines, would call them taunting names like "Puffball" (Thomas) and "Teapot" (Toby) and is not above do anything to get rid of them if possible. He is Sodor's strongest (but not quite largest) diesel, his power being enforced by his slightly malfunctioning claw, Pinchy. He can use this deftly, and is even able to use it to make a sculpture. Pinchy, though, seems to have a mind of its own, as it has been shown to "punch" Diesel 10 in the face from time to time, which he loathes. All engines, steam and diesel alike, fear or respect him.

He is also shown to be extremely psychotic and murderous, as he once tried to push James and Junior into the smelting pit at the Smelter's Yard. But Junior used the last of his gold dust to teleport him and James to safety, much to Diesel 10's shock.

Despite his brutality, some of his demeanour appears to have cooled, and his behaviour has apparently improved enough that Sir Topham Hatt allowed him back to the Island. He gets along enough with the other Sudrian diesels, but his efforts to help are often only when it suits his personal interest and he still harbours his scheming ways and anti-steam sentiments.

== Trivia ==

* Diesel 10 only appeared in specials and movies until the seventeenth series, where he appeared in an episode for the first time. The seventeenth series also marked his final appearance in the series to date, though his popularity with the fanbase allows merchandise of him to continue production even after his discontinuation in media.
* Diesel 10 along with the Wicked Witch of the West are both main antagonists, leaders of their gangs of villains and are partners-in-crime.
* Pinchy has not been named, and is simply referred to as a claw. Diesel 10's horn sound from the seventeenth series was most likely reused from the Theodore Tugboat ferry characters Philip and Filmore.
** However, in Engines Working Together, his horn sound is Derek's at a lower pitch.
** In Calling All Engines!, his horn sound is the same as Salty's seventh-ninth series and Patrick's (cement mixer).
** In some merchandise of him and the two mobile games, Magical Tracks and the 2018 version of Go, Go Thomas!, his horn sound is Derek's/Salty's current horn sound at regular pitch.
** Diesel 10 was the only character introduced in Thomas and the Magic Railroad to appear in CGI. Splatter and Dodge were both dropped from early drafts in both Day of the Diesels and The Great Race.
