Chimchar

Chimchar is a Fire-type Pokémon. In the anime, Paul originally owned a Chimchar after witnessing how powerful it was when it unleashed its Blaze ability in order to defeat a group of Zangoose. But after seeing how weak it was when it wasn't able to use the Blaze ability, he released it much to its dismay. Ash Ketchum, on the other hand, saw what was happening and decided to take Chimchar under his wing by letting it become a value member of his team. Since then, Ash used it in many battles until it evolved into a Monferno.

• Tommy Pickles in his All Grown Up series owns a Chimchar, where it was shown in a cameo of Liam's Adventures of Pokémon the Series. He was later revealed to have evolved all the way into an Infernape which was shown in Forming a More Perfect Union.
• Ryan Freestar owns a male Chimchar nicknamed “Kieran".
