'''Chimchar''' is a Fire-type Pokémon. In the anime, [[Paul]] originally owned a Chimchar after witnessing how powerful it was when it unleashed its Blaze ability in order to defeat a group of [[Zangoose]]. But after seeing how weak it was when it wasn't able to use the Blaze ability, he released it much to its dismay. [[Ash Ketchum]], on the other hand, saw what was happening and decided to take Chimchar under his wing by letting it become a value member of his team. Since then, Ash used it in many battles until it evolved into a [[Monferno]].
