*'''Jiminy Cricket''': (speaks) Pretty, huh? I bet a lot of you folks don't believe that. About a wish coming true, do ya? Well, I didn't either. Of course, I'm just a cricket singing my way from hearth to hearth but let me tell you what made me change my mind. (opens the book) One night, a long time ag...(sees the page falling backward; clears throat) Pardon me. Wait 'till I fix this page here. (moves candle holder onto the page) There. It all began one night in the countryside of Italy. It was a beautiful night. The stars were shining like diamonds high above the roofs of sleepy old towns and tall treetops. Pretty as a picture. On the other side of the county, there were a group of old friends I've known since the day I met them. Three of them were a trio of children I happen to know: a young boy from Pallet Town named Ash Ketchum, a girl from Cerulean City named Misty, and a teenage former gym leader from Pewter City named Brock. They were traveling alongside with their other companions I've ran into in the past. And from the looks of how they are now, it seems that the life on the road has really taken a major toll on them.

*'''Ash Ketchum''': Yeah, my feet are killing me. I just wish I had as many badges as I have blisters.

*'''Misty''': Well, you can't expect to win a lot of badges if practically all your battles were against Team Rocket, Bowser, and any other villain we've faced in the past. 'Course, it wouldn't mean much if they gave up badges for beating those pathetic losers.
