Since Delia is Ash's mother they have a healthy loving relationship, although it does run into rocky spots at times. Ash loves his mother very much and cares about her, but he gets annoyed when she embarrasses him, especially in the original series where she constantly reminded him to change his underwear every single day. When Delia got kidnapped by Entei in The Spell of the Unown, Ash went through great lengths to get her back. Ash appreciates when his mother comments on how much he has grown as a person and as a Pokémon Trainer, and he is very grateful that his mother supports him by watching his Pokémon League battles and helping him get ready to go on another journey.

Butterfree was Ash's very first Pokémon he ever caught and in Kanto as a Caterpie. Ash cares very much about Butterfree and in return he was extremely loyal to him. Although, during his time as a Metapod, Ash had to rescue him when he was taken by a Beedrill but ran away on the first try. When he successfully got to him the second try, Buterfree believed that Ash abandoned him and didn't care about him at all. However, Ash was able to earn his forgiveness by assuring that him he'll never run away from his friends again and when he trito protect him from a Beedrill but he ended up protecting him from it instead. Ash released Butterfree to start a family with his mate, a pink Butterfree, but he knows he will always be friends with him no matter what.

Pidgeot was Ash's second Pokémon he caught in Kanto as a Pidgeotto. They had a very good relationship with each other. Whenever Pidgeot was in trouble, Ash would help in anyway it can for it. When it evolved to help its pre-evolved forms, Ash had Pidgeot stay with them to protect them and promised to come back for it one day. However, Ash hasn't gotten the chance to do so, due to traveling. Fortunately, after being apart for so long, Ash reunited with Pidgeot and rejoined his teams.

Bulbasaur was the third Pokémon Ash obtained in Kanto. Although Ash had to work hard to earn Bulbasaur's trust, but he was able to over time. Also, Ash and Bulbasaur formed an unbreakable friendship for each other. When Professor Oak needed its help, Ash send Bulbasaur over to help him but it ended up staying their full-time to keep his lab in check. However, Ash has called on Bulbasaur for his battles or for various other things. Ash is always happy to see Bulbasaur whenever he comes home from his journey.

Ash first meet Charizard as a Charmander when it was waiting for its original Trainer to come back for it. However, Ash found out that its original Trainer abandoned it then he and his friends went to go get it as it was raining. Ash kept the flame lit so it would't go out and that act show Charizard who its real friends were along with finding out its original Trainer's true colors. After that, Ash add Charizard to his team and it became its fourth Pokémon he obtained in Kanto. Ash has a strong friendship with Charizard and cares very much about it.

After evolving into Charmeleon, Ash's relationship with Charizard took a different turn when its own skill level excelled that of his. Because of it, Charizard disrespected Ash and refuse to obey him. When it evolved into Charizard, their relationship got worse, although it did obey Ash sometimes and still cared about him, as it would use Flamethrower on him to prevent him from recalling it, to irritate him or as a sign of its defiance. Ash not only got annoyed with that habit, but he also would get annoyed with it when Charizard would embarrass him. After Charizard was frozen by a Poliwrath's Ice Beam and throughout the night, Ash resolved to keep it warm as he was rubbing his hands to provide heat in the form of friction, which risked rubbing his hands raw. Before the night ended, Ash told Charizard that he only wanted to be good enough for it and reminded it how long they had been together, which it recollected on that day. Ash's actions along with his efforts help Charizard realized how badly it treated him as it recalled all the good times they've shared and that he never gave up on it. After that, Ash and Charizard relationship was put back on the right track and their bond for each other reminded unbroken from that point on.

Ash had Charizard train with someone else to become stronger, but he had its caretaker bring it over from time to time to help him in his battles. When he saw how much it has grown during its training as he brought it over to show his friends during one of his journeys, Ash decided to have Charizard stay with him full-time again but left it at Professor Oak's lab, after his journey ended. However, Ash is happy to reunite with Charizard whenever he comes to visit his hometown.

In ''[[Ash's Adventures of The Little Mermaid]]'', Charizard witnessed Ash's failed attempt to protect Ariel from Ursula and grew concerned for its trainer. With that, it immediately flew off to help Ash, Pikachu and their friends. Charizard manages to make it to the battlefield in a spectacular entrance when it blasts Ursula in the back with its Flamethrower as a sneak attack and quickly flies down to save Ash and Pikachu before they can hit the bottom of the whirlpool below. Soon, Charizard joined Ash and Pikachu in a decisive battle to the death with the monstrous sea witch as rain, thunder, and waves roar around them. Ursula looked like she gained the upper hand and was about to destroy Ariel with the trident. But before she could do so, Ash, Pikachu and Charizard prevent her from killing her and continued the battle. Thanks to the supportive help from Prince Eric, who skewered Ursula through the abdomen with the splintered bowsprit, Ash, Pikachu, and Charizard destroyed the wicked sea witch for good with the combined Flamethrower and Thunderbolt attack that morphed together into a golden dragon and eradicated her. The Pokémon's attacks as well as the ship that impaled her and the trident's power electrocuting her caused Ursula to collapse and sink into the ocean before finally being destroyed in a blinding explosion underwater. And so, with Ursula finally destroyed, all of the evil spells she had placed on her victims wore off and were changed back into merpeople. King Triton's spell also wore off and his royal status as king was restored, nullifying the contract permanently. Soon after, Ash, Pikachu, and Charizard are embraced by so many of their friends in victory of the battle's outcome. King Triton, seeing how much Ariel truly loves Eric, gives her legs back and allows her to marry him. Charizard then joins its trainer and his friends in attending Ariel and Eric's wedding, while also making its acquaintance with Ariel and her father for the first time.

When Ash first meet Squirtle was when it ran a gang call the Squirtle squad as it didn't trust humans, due to being abandoned by their Trainers. However, Ash risked his life to save Squirtle, which it got it to open up about trusting humans again. When it wanted to join him, Ash happily accepted it and thus Squirtle became his fifth caught Pokémon in Kanto. They have an unbreakable friendship with each other and would do anything to protect each other from danger. Ash left Squirtles to lead its gang again and knows they'll always be friends no matter where they are. Despite leading its gang again, Ash has called on Squirtle for help in his battles from time to time.

Ash first meet Kingler as a Krabby on a beach and caught it really easily as his sixth Pokémon from Kanto. However, Ash had to have Kingler be under Professor Oak's care, due to having six Pokémon in his party at the time. Finding out about the number of Pokémon in a party and worrying about his Pokémon, Ash went to call Professor Oak to make sure Kingler was ok, which it was and understood that it be in good hands. Although they didn't get to spend that much time together, Ash and Kingler were able to become good friends with each other. Ash called on Kingler to battle in the first round in the League and ended up evolving along with winning the whole round for him. Ash is happy to see Kingler whenever he came to visit Pallet Town.

Ash first meet Primeape as a Mankey and it even stole his hat. However, it instantly evolved when James kicked it, Ash and friends ran away from it, due to being out of control. Although, Ash decided to catch Primeape and was successful in catching his seventh Pokémon in Kanto. Although, Ash had to earn Primeape trust, which he did during a tournament he enter it that was meant for Fighting-Type Pokémon to enter. However, Ash left Primeape with a fellow competitor to help it become stronger, but they'll reminds friends till the very end and be together again one day.

Ash first meet Muk at a power plant that it and its pre-evolved form, Grimer, were causing a power-outage in a city he with his friends were at. With the help of Pikachu and a wild Magnemite, Ash caught Muk as his eighth Pokémon he caught in Kanto. However, Ash left Muk with Professor Oak but they were able to form a friendship with each other. Ash sometimes calls on Muk for help in battle or for various other things. Also, Ash is happy to reunite with Muk whenever he visits Pallet Town. Despite their friendship, Ash gets annoyed when Muk would give him or others too much affection.

Ash has caught a group of Tauros in the Kanto Safari Zone and his ninth Pokémon he caught in Kanto. After catching them, Ash left the group of Tauros with Professor Oak and has called on the leader of the group for help in battle from time to time. Whenever Ash reunites with his Tauros, they would always run to him with excitement whenever he returns from one of his journeys. Ash was sent flying a couple times by them, due to their excitement in seeing him again.

Ash first encounter Mimey, Mr. Mime, when he and his friends were heading back to his hometown. However, while helping out a traveling circus and got captured by Team Rocket by mistake, Ash escape to his home and found out that the same Mr. Mime he saw was with his mother. Although he was able to convince it to help him with a little help from his mother, Ash was impressed with Mr. Mime abilities but got annoyed when his mother nicknamed it. However, Ash caught Mr. Mime as his tenth and final Pokémon in Kanto then gives to his mother. Ash can sometimes get annoyed when his mother would give Mr. Mime more affection instead him. Despite this, Ash does get along with Mr. Mime and does care about it. Also, Ash is happy that his mother has Mr. Mime in her life as she will never be lonely. Ash would even greet Mr. Mime when he returns home from his journey. When his mother had Mr. Mime stay at an institute to watch over him, Ash had Mimey help him in a tournament that he enters in which he was able to win thanks to its help.

Lapras was the first Pokémon that Ash caught in the Orange Islands. After saving it from Team Rocket, Ash earned Lapras' loyalty and they became friends. Also, Ash had Lapras be his and his friend's main transportation through the Orange Islands until he frees it to be with its family, but they will always be friends. However, Ash reunited with Lapras during one of his journeys before going their separate ways again.

Ash first meet Snorlax at one of Orange Islands where it was eating a lot of fruit on that island. With the assistant of Jigglypuff, Ash was able to catch Snorlax and it became his second and final Pokémon he caught at the Orange Islands. After that, Ash and Snorlax became very good friends as he sometimes calls on it for help. However, Ash sometimes gets annoyed when Snorlax would sleep when he needed it or when he eats the food, they were gonna eat. Before the Orange League, Ash left Snorlax with Professor Oak, due to sleeping and decided to leave it with him when the competition was over. Ash happily greets Snorlax whenever he visits Pallet Town.

Ash first meet Heracross in a forest it was living in and it was having trouble getting its usually tree it likes to suck on for food back, due to Team Rocket interfering. After helping it and was ready to continue his journey, Ash was followed by Heracross as it wanted to join him, and he happily accepted then it became the first Pokémon he caught in Johto. After that, Ash and Heracross became close friends with each other. Ash has Heracross help him in his battles from time to time. After leaving Heracross in Professor Oak's care, Ash has call upon it a couple of times and is happy to see it when he reunites with it at the lab.

Ash first meet Bayleef when she was a Chikorita and tried to catch her but kept getting back up. Seeing this, Ash brought Bayleef to a Pokémon Center to get treated but Team Rocket stole her, which led him and Pikachu to go after them to get her back. After rescuing her and getting away from Team Rocket, Ash and Bayleef started to bond with each other. When he was gonna leave her with a Nurse Joy, Ash saw that Bayleef wanted to go with him, and she became the second Pokémon he caught in Johto. However, Ash became surprised when Bayleef developed a crush on him and that she would get extremely jealous if any of his other Pokémon got his attention, in most cases, Pikachu.

After she evolved, Ash kept getting tackled by Bayleef, due to her believing that she was still small to be in his arms, as she didn't realize that she had grown so much. After this happened a couple of times, he had enough of her tackling him and believed she was gonna do it again when she was approaching him slowly, Ash lost his cool towards Bayleef as he told her to get away from him and stay away from him. After a while, Ash noticed that Bayleef, who's feelings were left hurt, ran away and went looking for her. With the help of his friends, Ash realized that his harsh words were the reason why Bayleef ran away from him. After finding her with a kind old woman that found her, Ash tried to get Bayleef to see how really sorry he was for hurting her feelings, but nothing worked. When she, Pikachu and the kind old woman's Pokémon were taken by Team Rocket, Ash rushed in to save them and that act got Bayleef to realized that he truly was sorry for hurting her feelings and forgave him. After everyone was saved, Ash was also given an apology from Bayleef as well when she realized that her tackles got him to lose her cool on her in the first place.

After that, Ash and Bayleef bond for each other grew as she mellowed out but still sometimes gives him affection and she is always happy to see him whenever they reunited, after he left her at Professor Oak's lab while he continues his travels. Ash has a lot of faith in Bayleef as he notices how hard she works whenever he uses her in a Pokémon battle and his grateful when she helps him get out of a tough spot.

Ash first encounter Quilava during its time as a Cyndaquil when he heard about one living near the area, he with friends were at. When it helped him and Pikachu get away from Team Rocket, Ash instantly caught Quilava as he was trying to get it away from Team Rocket's robot as it was getting ready to blow up. After catching it as his third Pokémon from Johto and stopping a boy that wanted it, Ash and Quilava formed a friendship with each other. Ash greatly helped Quilava grow, due to being the baby of the group at the time. After leaving it at Professor Oak's lab, Ash is happy to see Quilava again when he come to Pallet Town for a visit. After evolving before his fifth Pokémon League competition, Ash was very proud with Quilava in its growth in battle and abilities.

When Ash first meet Totodile, he and Misty both wanted to catch it, but they ended up having a battle with each other for ownership of it, due to not knowing which of their Lure Balls was used on it first. Ash ended up winning Totodile and it became his fourth Pokémon he obtained in Johto. Also, Ash and Totodile personality match as their both energetic. That part of their personality allowed Ash and Totodile to bond with each other. Also, Ash has called on Totodile for battles or if he needed to put out anything that had to do with fire. Ash left Totodile with Professor Oak when his Johto journey ended but he is happy to see it when he comes to Pallet Town for a visit.

Ash first meet Notctowl in a forest he was at with his friends and instantly wanted to catch it, due to being a different color but failed. However, after he saved it from Team Rocket, Ash was given another shot by Noctowl as it wanted to go with him. Ash succeeds in catching Noctowl and it became his fifth Pokémon he obtained in Johto. Also, Ash and Noctowl instantly became friends. Ash would call upon Noctowl to battle or to look around for something from the air. After his Johto journey ended, Ash left Noctowl with Professor Oak, but he is happy to see it again when he visits.

Ash received Donphan as an Egg then hatched into a Phanpy as his sixth and final Pokémon he obtained in Johto. However, Ash ended up scaring the newborn when he had Pikachu send Team Rocket blasting off with a Thunderbolt attack. Ash tried to get Donphan to come out as he wanted to be assured it that it was an accident, and this led Pikachu to blame himself for having it run away from them. When he found it, Ash saw that Team Rocket was using Donphan to catch Pikachu, due to it being easily trusting at the time. Finding them in a river, Ash saved Donphan and Pikachu, which led it to know who its real friends were. After that, Ash and Donphan formed an unbreakable friendship with one another. Ash left Donphan with Professor Oak when his Johto journey ended. When he returned from his new journey and was getting ready to set off on a new one, Ash saw that Donphan wanted to join him for his new adventure, which he accepted and that led to its evolution. After evolving, Ash called upon Donphan from time to time in battle due to noticing its newfound strength and abilities. Once his second journey through Kanto ended, Ash left Donphan with Professor Oak once again, but he does still call on it for help in battles.

Although he never caught it, Ash took care of Larvitar in Johto and was given to him as an egg from Professor Elm. Ash instantly earned Larvitar trust and was the only person it would open up as it wasn't very trusting of others, especially Brock and Misty. However, after learning its terrible past from a wild Unown in another dimension, Larvitar began to open up to Ash's friends. After returning to its home at Mt. Silver, Ash and Larvitar went their separate ways but promise to always be friends.

Ash first meet Swellow as a Taillow when it snatches Max's chocolate bar from his hand. When it followed them to an area with a river, Ash battle Swellow and caught as his first Pokémon he obtained in Hoenn. After that, Ash and Swallow became very good friends with one another. After it evolved and knowing it likes a challenge, Ash had Swellow battle in a few of his gym battles and a couple of his Battle Frontier battles. Ash left Swellow with Professor Oak when his Battle Frontier journey ended but has called on it for help in battles.

When Ash first meet Sceptile while he was a Treecko, he instantly battles him in hopes of catching him but failed. Through a suggestion from Pikachu, Ash decided to wait for Sceptile, which worked. However, seeing Sceptile trying to save his home from dying, Ash decided to lend a hand, which got him interested in him. Despite their efforts, the tree died anyway, Ash told Sceptile that the tree was very grateful for trying to help it. Seeing that he wanted to battle him again, Ash gave Sceptile his request then caught him as his second Pokémon he obtained in Hoenn. Ash formed a great friendship with Sceptile during their time together and even maintained their friendship when he evolved twice. Due to being one of his most powerful Pokémon, Ash used Sceptile a lot in battles or to help others. After his Battle Frontier journey, Ash left Sceptile with Professor Oak but has called upon it for battle from time to time.

In ''[[Ash's Adventures of The Rescuers Down Under]]'', Ash summoned Sceptile during a confrontation towards a vile and despicable poacher, Percival C. McLeach. Soon, Sceptile helped Ash fight off the villainous poacher in a battle to see who will decide the fate of the young Australian boy, Cody, and his eagle friend, Marahute. During the battle, Sceptile expressed his hostility towards McLeach upon learning the evil things that made his victims suffer. After a long, but exhausting battle, Ash managed to prove to McLeach that he is superior in strength and successfully defeated the wicked hunter. Sceptile later helped Ash and Scooby save Cody and Bernard from plummeting to their demise down the waterfall by using Leaf Storm to soften up their landing.

Ash first meets Corphish while they were camping on Dewford Island as it was causing trouble for him and his friends. After successful drawing it out of hiding, Ash battle Corphish and caught it as his third Pokémon from Hoenn. After that, Ash and Corphish became very good friends. Sometimes, Ash gets annoyed with Corphish due to its gluttony or the trouble it sometimes causes, but still cares about it no matter what. For example, right after its capture, Corphish gets sick and Ash had to bring it to the closest Pokémon Center, which was rather far, and put himself in danger for it, being attacked by wild Carvanhas from which it protected him. Ash left Corphish with Professor Oak once his Battle Frontier journey ended but is happy to see it when he reunites with it. Also, Ash would give affections from Corphish sometimes.

Instantly, Ash and Torkoal became good friends. Also, because of that friendship, Ash asked Torkoal if it wanted to join his team as it happily accepted and it became his fourth Pokémon, he caught in Hoenn. Sometimes, Ash gets smoked by Torkoal whenever it was excited or upset. After his Hoenn journey ended, Ash left Torkoal with Professor Oak but has called on its help from time to time.

Ash was annoyed with Glalie when he first meets it during its time as a Snorunt as it took his gym badges from him and tried to get them back from it. However, Ash realized that Glalie stole his badges was because it really liked him. Realizing this, Ash caught Glalie as his fifth and final Pokémon he obtained in Hoenn. After that, Ash and Glalie became friends. Although, Ash gets annoyed when Glalie Ice Beam's hits him during its training to perfect the move and after it evolved. After leaving it with Professor Oak, Ash is happy to see Glalie again when he reunites with it.

Ash first meet Aipom as she, like Primeape, stole his hat from him. However, Ash was able to get Aipom to see that he wasn't a bad person, after he saved her from falling. Although Aipom gave Ash his hat back, but she ended up following him. Had enough of her stealing his hat, Ash tried to catch her but failed. However, Ash was given a second chance when Aipom witness May's Pokémon contest battles and succeeded thus becoming the only Pokémon he caught during his Battle Frontier journey. Ash and Aipom became very good friends, although she still stole his hat. Although he was gonna start his Sinnoh journey with Pikachu, Ash ended being joined by Aipom as she followed him, but he let her stay with him for his new journey. However, Ash traded Aipom to his friend for one of her Pokémon, due to being more interest in contest over battling. Despite being traded away and after evolving under her ownership, they maintain their friendship. When she found a new ambition, Ash supported her and they bid each other farewell as they both knew they'll always be friends no matter where they go.

Ash first meet Staraptor when he was a Starly as he instantly caught him as his first Pokémon from Sinnoh due to wanting to look for Pikachu from the air, after he got separated from him. They instantly became good friends with each other right away, after Ash caught Staraptor. When he evolved into Staravia and Staraptor, Ash had him battle in a couple of his gym battles and had him carrying smaller Pokémon on his back, especially Pikachu. Also, Ash was proud in Staraptor as he grew a lot stronger in his skills and abilities. Ash left Staraptor with Professor Oak when his Sinnoh journey ended but is happy to see him when he comes back to his hometown for a visit.

When Ash first meet Torterra during its time as a Turtwig was when it saved Pikachu from Team Rocket. However, Torterra thought Ash was part of Team Rocket, but he cleared the misunderstanding with it, and they instantly became friends. Ash caught Torterra as his second Pokémon he obtained in Sinnoh. During their time together, Ash and Torterra relationship grew as they became very close with each other. When it evolved into Grotle, Ash helped it recuperate the loss of its speed and train it very hard to help it became stronger in hopes of getting some of it speed back which worked as it learns a move that got some of it back. Also, during its time as a Grotle and when it evolved into its final evolution, Ash uses Torterra in a lot of battles with very strong trainers, although it lost every time, but it was still good experience for it. Ash had Torterra stay with Professor Oak when his Sinnoh journey ended but is happy to see it again when he comes to visit.

When Ash first met Infernape, he was a Chimchar and belonged to a different Trainer, Paul. After his original trainer abandoned him for not meeting his expectation, Ash decided to take Infernape in, which he accepted, thus becoming the third Pokémon he caught in Sinnoh. Ash and Infernape formed a close bond with each other. Also, Ash would risk his safety to protect Infernape. Ash was able to help Infernape become stronger as he helped him control his Blaze ability during its evolution line. After helping him gain control of its Blaze ability, Ash was very proud of Infernape. Ash used Infernape in a lot of his battles, due to him being one of his ace battlers.

After his journey through Sinnoh ended, Ash left Infernape in Professor Oak's care but was happy to reunite with him when he came to Pallet Town for a visit. During one of his visits, Ash finds out through Professor Oak that Infernape has been picking fights with his other Fire-type Pokémon and has left the lab. Ash goes looking for Infernape and was able to find him with Gary's help then teams up with him against Moltres. Despite the Legendary Pokémon fleeing, Ash and Infernape were pleased to battle side by side again.

Buizel is the fourth Pokémon Ash obtained in Sinnoh. He was originally Dawn's Pokémon but was later traded to Ash for Aipom because Buizel preferred battles over contests. Ash and Buizel form a close friendship with each as they love to battle. After his journey through Sinnoh concluded, Ash left Buizel with Professor Oak but is happy to see him again whenever he comes to his hometown for a visit.

Ash first met Gliscor while it was as a Gligar where it took a liking to him. Although they help it and its friends get back home, Ash saw that Gliscor came back as it wanted to join his side and he happily accepts its request as he captures it thus becoming the fifth Pokémon, he obtained in Sinnoh. Although he has a good relationship with Gliscor, Ash sometimes gets annoyed with it sometimes due to it falling on him but only does it to show affection towards him and even does it before and after evolving. Ash left Gliscor with someone else for a while to help it become stronger but reunite with it during the League. After the League was over, Ash left Gliscor with Professor Oak but is happy to reunite with it when he comes home for a visit.

Ash first encountered Gible where it was a wild Pokémon with Old Lady Wilma. After visiting it, Gible had started following Ash, presumably having an interest in the young trainer. Ash was later reunited with Gible who made himself known by biting on his head. Seeing that Gible wanted to join him, Ash accepted him as he became the sixth and last Pokémon, he caught in Sinnoh. After his Sinnoh journey ended, Ash left Gible with Professor Oak, but he does like seeing it again when he comes to Pallet Town for a visit.

Ash has known Unfezant since she was a Pidove and was the first Pokémon he caught in Unova. They are very good friends with each other as they would go out their way to protect each other from trouble or danger. During her time as a Tranquill, Ash had her help mentor a fellow Flying type as it could't fly and needed help in doing it. After evolving into Unfezant, Ash had her help out in a lot of his battles, especially during one of Team Rocket's big operations. In order to bring a longtime Pokémon friend, Ash left Unfezant with Professor Oak but did reunite with her when he return from Unova before setting off for a new journey. Also, Ash knows he'll see Unfezant again when he comes to visit.

Ash first met Oshawott in Professor Juniper's lab as he tells him that he is adorable. When Oshawott developed an interest in him and left Juniper's lab, Ash ended up being followed by him from a distance. Ash accepted Oshawott into his team, after he proved his worth by saving Ash's Pikachu and Iris' Axew from Team Rocket's clutches, making him the second Pokémon he obtained in the Unova region. Ash has a close relationship with Oshawott, although he gets annoyed with him sometimes especially when he comes out of his Poké Ball on his own or eats food that belongs to others, which often causes trouble. After his Unova journey ended and return from his detour back to Kanto, Ash left Oshawott with Professor Oak but knows he will reunite with him when he returns form his journeys.

Much like Charizard, as a Charmander, and Infernape, as a Chimchar, Pignite, as a Tepig, was abandoned by his Trainer due to being weak in battle, in his case he was abandoned and left to starve. Ash happily had Pignite join his team, after he took a liking to him due to his caring nature to his Pokémon, making him the third Pokémon that he obtained in the Unova region. Ash formed a friendship with Pignite and cares very much for him. When his Unova journey and the detour back to Kanto concluded, Ash left Pignite with Professor Oak but knows he'll wait for his visits to Pallet Town.

===[[Snivy]]:===

Snivy was caught by Ash and the gang, after she stole food from them, making her the fourth Pokémon that he obtained in Unova. Although it took some time, Ash was able to earn Snivy trusts when he proven his worth to her. Ash and Snivy form a close friendship with each other. After his journey in Unova and doing the detour back to Kanto concluded, Ash left Snivy with Professor Oak but knows he'll reunite with her when he visits his hometown.

Scraggy was the fifth Pokémon that Ash obtained in Unova after receiving him as an Egg. Ash cares very much about Scraggy and would do anything to keep him safe from harm's way. Also, Ash and Scraggy are pretty close with each other. Ash left Scraggy in Professor Oak care when his Unova journey and his detour back to Kanto ended and knows he'll wait for his return to Pallet Town to visit.

Ash has known Leavanny since he was a Sewaddle and has a good relationship with him. Although, Ash had to earn Leavanny trust but was able to earn it then caught him thus becoming the sixth Pokémon he obtained in Unova. When he became a Swadloon, Ash had him help in making costume for a movie he and his friends were doing. After he became his final evolution, Ash had Leavanny help him out in a lot of his battles or for various other things. In addition, Ash notice Leavanny improvement in his sewing skills. Before detouring back to Kanto, Ash had Leavanny sent to Professor Oak but did call on his help during the adventure back to his home region. After briefly reuniting with him at Professor Oak lab, Ash knows he'll see Leavanny again when he comes to visit Pallet Town.

===[[Palpitoad]]:===

Ash first meet Palpitoad at a lake when he and Cilan were trying to get some weed to cure their poison Pokémon. After battling and catching Palpitoad as he was the seventh Pokémon, he obtained in Unova, Ash was able to become good friends with him. Ash had Palpitoad sent to Professor Oak when his journey to Unova ended and was taking a detour back but does reunite with him when he made back to Pallet Town. Also, Ash knows he'll see Palpitoad once again when he comes home from a journey.

Ash has know Boldore since it was a Roggenrola as he caught it and became his eighth Pokémon, he obtained in Unvoa. Ash has a good relationship with Boldore as its senses of hearing came in handing, during its time a Roggenrola. After evolving, Ash calls upon Boldore every now and then for battle or for other reasons. Ash had Boldore be sent to Professor Oak after his Unova journey concluded and was taking a detour back to Kanto. Although, Ash did reunite with Boldore when he made it back to Pallet Town and knows it will be waiting for his visit whenever one of his journey ends.

Ash first met Krookodile as Sandile when it was causing trouble at a hot spring. After everything was resolved, Krookodile, during his time as a Sandile, decided to follow Ash as he wanted to battle his Pikachu even when evolves into Krokorok, but always loses. After their final battle, Ash notice that Krookodile, as a Krokorok, was greatly depressed by the loss. Seeing this and was about to leave, Ash offer Kroodkodile a spot on his team which he happily accepted making him the ninth and final Pokémon he caught in Unova. After that, Ash and Krookodile became very good friends. Ash had Krookodile be sent to Professor Oak but did call on his help to catch a Pokémon for his caretaker. After making it back to Kanto, Ash reunites with Krookodile and knows he'll be waiting for his visit when he comes back from his journeys.

===[[Meloetta]] (wasn't caught):===

Ash first encounter Meloetta in Virbank City when he saved it from getting hurt. After that, Ash ended up being followed by Meloetta and he would't meet it again until it was in the road while it was in a daze. Ash stays by Meloetta side until it got better but it ended up following him again. Seeing that Meloetta liked him, Ash let it stay with them and they became friends. When Team Rocket made their move in capturing it, Ash went to great lengths to protect Meloetta but it was forced to go with them as it ended up choosing his and Pikachu safety over its own when Team Rocket's boss, Giovanni, threaten to hurt them. Ash and Pikachu watch Meloetta being used for Team Rocket's plan, but they escaped from captivity then they were both able to rescue it. After stopping Team Rocket's plan, Ash bid his friend Meloetta farewell when it left with its friend, Ridley.

===[[Greninja]]:===

Greninja was the first Pokémon Ash obtained in the Kalos region. Ash met Greninja when he used to be a Froakie, where Froakie saw something special in him and decided to let him be his Trainer. Ash trained Greninja to his full potential, which led him to evolve into his first stage, Frogadier. After evolving into his final stage of evolution, Ash and Greninja gained a special power through their bond, which is known as the "Bond Phenomenon" as it rivals the power of Mega Evolution.

However, they both had trouble perfecting the form, due to Ash's fear of losing his Pokémon family and Greninja's insincerity. Their flaws ended up getting the better of them, which put a strain in their bond. After realizing how far they let their flaws get to them, Ash and Greninja both set themselves aside to help one another out. When they put their flaws aside, Ash and Greninja perfected the form. After that, Ash and Greninja made amends for their actions, which led their bond growing stronger than ever before. When Squishy and Z-2 asked him for his help in defending Kalos, Ash decided to not only have Greninja go with them on their mission but to also keep him safe from danger, after Team Flare captured them and tried to use them for their plans. Before going their separate ways, Ash told Greninja that they'll always be connected with each other no matter what. They then they bid each other farewell.

But despite being released, Greninja would from time to time show up to assist his trainer in many different ways. Once his mission is done, he goes back to Kalos to resume his duty as the region's protector.

In ''[[Team Robot in Pokémon XY The Series]]'', Emerl gives it a communicator so that way they will call it when they need it or if it needs them.

===[[Talonflame]]:===

Talonflame was the second Pokémon Ash caught in the Kalos region. Ash has known Talonflame since it was a Fletchling. They have a very good relationship with each other as Ash used Talonflame a lot in his Gym Battles. After evolving into Fletchinder and Talonflame, Ash was proud of its growth. When Talonflame was in danger, Ash risked his own life to protect it. Ash left Talonflame with Professor Oak when his Kalos journey ended but knows he'll see it again whenever he comes to visit.

When Ash first meet Hawlucha, he was impressed with his way of battling. Seeing him struggle with one of his moves, Ash offered to help Hawlucha and they train to perfect it, which worked. After helping him, Ash offered Hawlucha a spot on his team, to which Hawlucha accepted, thus becoming the third Pokémon he caught in Kalos. Ash and Hawlucha are very close with each other. After his Kalos journey concluded, Ash left Hawlucha with Professor Oak but knows he'll be waiting for his return when he visits Pallet Town.

Goodra was the fourth Pokémon Ash caught in the Kalos region. Ash has known Goodra since it was a Goomy. Upon hearing its status as the weakest of all Dragon-type Pokémon, Ash wasn't sure to call it that type of Pokémon but realize that it wasn't weak at all, after it saved him and two of his Pokémon from Team Rocket. Seeing that Goodra wanted to become stronger like him and Pikachu, Ash offered Goomy a spot on his team and they formed a close relationship with each other. After evolving into Sliggoo and Goodra, Ash succeeded in making it stronger. When they return to Goodra's home, Ash told it to stay at its home so it can protect it from the danger of other invading Pokemon. Ash ended up visiting it later on and asked Goodra to join him in the Kalos League. After the League was over, Ash bid Goodra farewell and promised to always be friends till the end. But not before Emerl gives it a communicator so that way they will call it when they need it or if it needs them.

===[[Noivern]]:===

Ash has a parent and child relationship with Noivern as Emerl and Hawlucha found him when he was an egg. Before it was hatched, Emerl and Hawlucha witnessed his mother, a Noivern, sacrificing herself to save the egg from poachers. Devastated and hoping to honor her sacrifice, Emerl and Hawlucha decided to take the egg and have Ash raise the unborn Pokémon as one of his own. After hatching into a Noibat and had trouble flying, Ash offered to help with its learning. Ash then suggested in having it join him and his team, to which Noibat accepted as he didn't want to leave Ash while also learning about the sacrifice the mother Noivern made for him. When Noivern, (during its time as a Noibat), wanted to prove himself, Ash understood and didn't get in the way of his choice. After evolving, Ash was very proud of Noivern and was happy how strong he became. Ash left Noivern with Professor Oak once his journey through Kalos ended but knows he'll reunite with it whenever he comes home for a visit.

Rowlet is the first Pokémon he caught at Alola and usually has him outside his Poké Ball as he likes to sleep inside his backpack. Ash gets annoyed when Rowlet would still sleep whenever he needed his help. Despite this, Ash cares very much for Rowlet and doesn't mind when he sits or sleeps on his head or hangs on his shoulder, although he would sometimes hold him in his arms. Ash and Rowlet are even best friends with each other. Ash left Rowlet in Professor Kukui's care when he decided to continue his journey, but he was happy that he said goodbye to him and Pikachu. Also, Ash knows he'll see Rowlet again one day.

===[[Lycanroc]] (Dusk Form):===

Ash has known Lycanroc since he was a Rockruff as they first meet at Professor Kukui's house. They were able to hit it off right away before Rockruff joined Ash as his second caught Pokémon from Alola. Also, Ash and Lycanroc share a close relationship with each other. Ash's Lycanrock was a different type of Lycanroc from the rest. To be more specific, Ash's Rockruff evolved into a Dusk form Lycanroc. After evolving into Lycanroc, Ash began to notice that he doesn't like to get his fur dirty and gets mad really bad. Although Ash didn't take this as an issue at first but seeing that Lycanroc was ignoring his commands was when he realized that he needed to do something about it. Ash helped Lycanroc control his temper by reminding him of the bond they both share together. However, Ash had some doubts about Lycanroc controlling his red-eye-state as he kept telling him to calm down but realize he had it under control this whole time. Realizing this, Ash told Lycanroc how really sorry he was forever doubting him. Whenever he loses a battle as he takes them personally, Ash gives Lycanroc, even during his time as a Rockruff, encouragement and cheers him up. After deciding to resume his journey, Ash left Lycanroc under Professor Kukui's care, but he got the chance to say goodbye to him and Pikachu and know they'll see one another again.

===[[Incineroar]]:===

When they first meet, Ash and Incineroar, while he was a Litten, didn't get off to a great start. Ash never gave up on getting Incineroar's trust as he wanted to be his friend. Through determination and kindness, Ash was able to earn Incineroar's trust and they formed a close friendship towards each other. After his mentor, Stoutland, passed away, Ash offered Incineroar a spot on his team which he accepted and become his third caught Pokémon of Alola. While he was a Litten, Ash had Incineroar in his arms and when he evolved into Torracat he was once on Ash's head. Ash and Incineroar both admire the Masked Royal/Professor Kukui and his Incineroar as they look up to them despite the rivalry, they have with them. After evolving into his final evolution, Ash was proud of Incineroar as he became a lot stronger in his ability. Ash left Incineroar with Professor Kukui when he decided to continue his journey, but he did said goodbye to him alongside Pikachu and knows they'll see each other again.

===[[Solgaleo]] (Nebby; wasn't caught):===

Ash took care of Nebby while it was a Cosmog. Like Rowlet, Ash doesn't mind when Nebby slept inside his backpack. Ash is very close with Nebby and likes holding it in his arms. When it became a Cosmoem, Ash became worried as it hasn't moved at all. After becoming Solgaleo, Ash was both happy and proud for Nebby. During Necrozma's attack on Alola, Nebby rushed to save Ash and his friends from the disguntled Prism Pokémon. However, when Necrozma took control of Nebby, Ash was determined to save his friend no matter what. Ash closeness to Nebby is shown when they used an exclusive Z-Move together. Before he left for a new journey, Ash got the chance to say goodbye to Nebby when it came to visit him.

===[[Naganadel]]:===

Ash first meet Naganadel, as a Poipole, when it with Pikachu and Rowlet were about to be caught by Team Rocket but he with his other Pokémon saved them just in time before the net caught them. When Lusamine suggested having it join his team, Ash liked the idea and explained to Naganadel his intentions which it understood then jumped into the last Beast Ball as it wanted to join him thus becoming the fourth Pokémon he caught in Alola. Ash really cares for Naganadel and he usually had it outside its Poké Ball, during its time as a Poipole. When Naganadel wished to stay at its home world, Ash was sad but understood its reasons for wanting to stay then bid it farewell. However, Ash would see Naganadel again when it came through an Ultra Wormhole to help him but he didn't recognized it at first but when Pikachu showed him the Ultra Guardian pendent it had on it was when he realized that it was Poipole but it evolved. After it help him in the exhibition match against Professor Kukui and had a meal with everyone, Ash bid Naganadel farewell once again but knows they'll always be friends no matter where they are. But not before Emerl gives it a communicator so that way they will call it when they need it or if it needs them.

===[[Melmetal]]:===

Ash was able to form a close relationship with Melmetal when they first meet, during its time as Meltan, after seeing it with Rowlet. When he saw its bond with Rowlet, Ash asked Melmetal if it wanted to stay with him which it happily told him yes. Realizing that Melmetal also wants to go with him, Ash happily accepted it to his team then caught it as his fifth and final Pokémon he caught in Alola. Like both Rowlet and Nebby, Ash doesn't mind when Melmetal, while it was a Meltan, sleep inside his backpack. Also, Ash even doesn't mind when Melmetal, also during its time as Meltan sit on his shoulder or on his head. After evolving, Ash was very proud of Melmetal and was happy how strong it became. Despite their relationship, Ash sometimes gets annoyed when Melmetal will not listen to its command very much and eat any metal that it shouldn't be eating. Ash decided to leave Melmetal with Professor Kukui when he left to resume his journey, but it did say goodbye to him and Pikachu. Also, Ash knows he'll see Melmetal again.

Ash met Dragonite when it was a Dragonair when he and Goh visited its home on Dragonite island. Ash was able to help it fly by growing its wings which he was successful with some training he did with. When he was sent falling towards the ocean by Team Rocket's Wailord, Dragonite evolved into its final evolution and saves Ash's life. After dealing with Team Rocket, Ash was asked by Dragonite if it can join his team as he accepts its request, making it the first Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world. Ash has a great relationship with Dragonite.

Ash first met Gengar at the Cerise Laboratory where it was causing trouble. Although Chloe chased it away, Ash ended up being stalked by Gengar later on as it was still in the area. Hearing that it was abandoned by its original Trainer, similar to the way his Charizard, his Infernape, and his Pignite was abandoned by Damian, Paul, and Shamus when they were a Charmander, Chimchar, and Tepig, Ash offered Gengar his friendship and it became official when he saved it from Team Rocket.

After passing out from a fever Ash unknowingly caught and recovered when he woke up, he noticed an apple and a Poké Ball by his bedside. Seeing this, Ash realized that Gengar wanted to go with him and accepted it to his team along with it becoming his second Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world. Ash and Gengar are very good friends with each other, although he once accused it for something it didn't do but didn't assume that again when it attacked him for that.

During their trip to Stow-on-Side in Galar, Ash learned about Gengar's Gigantamax form from the Gym Leader, Allister. After a failed first attempt at the Stow-on-Side Stadium, Allister assisted Ash, Goh, and Gengar into finding three clusters of Max Mushrooms in order to make Max Soup for it drink and help Gengar become eligible to Gigantamax. The following day, after Gengar drank the Max Soup, Ash managed to successfully activate Gengar's Gigantamax form.

===[[Lucario]]:===

Ash received Lucario as an Egg that instantly hatched into a Riolu on the night when he got it, although they subconsciously connected to each other through their Aura. However, Ash had to work on getting Lucario to trust him as it ran away just after hatching. Seeing it battling a wild Onix, Ash and Pikachu came to its defense. After healing it at the Pokémon Center, Ash caught Lucario as his third caught Pokémon from around the world. Ash and Lucario share a close bond with each other.

Also, Ash doesn't mind that Lucario, while it was a Riolu, stays by his side and when it would hold his hand or hang onto his leg. In addition, Ash has been a big influence on Lucario. Also, Ash enjoys its company as he would let Lucario stay outside its PokéBall. Ash has great respects for Lucario's fighting spirit and faith in it. After having Lucario participate in World Coronation Series battles, Ash praises it for its hard work and the two even train together alongside Pikachu. Ash even considers Lucario another partner and best friend. Overtime, Ash and Lucario's bond grows stronger, which ables them to do Mega Evolution together.

===[[Sirfetch'd]]:===

Ash met Sirfetch'd, while it was a Galarian Farfetch'd, during his third trip in the Galar region where it shows to be a highly skilled and experienced battler. When Ash battles it, he sees Sirfetch'd with great spirit and determination and even respect it as an honorable Pokémon. After healing it at the Pokémon Center, Sirfetch'd sees Ash as a worthy Trainer and decides to join him. After that, Ash caught Sirfetch'd as the first Pokémon he caught in the Galar region as well as his fourth Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world.

Ash and Sirfetch'd are very good friends with one another. Despite their friendship, Ash doesn't like when Sirfetch'd, as Farfetch'd, would act cold with him sometimes and would attack without him saying anything, even when he told it to stand down.

However, Ash respects Sirfetch'd's dream to be a leek master as he wants to help make that happen for it, much to its appreciation. Ash would even risk his safety to help Sirfetch'd as he saved it from falling down a hole and retrieved its leek for it, which got it to bond with him and even choose his safety over winning a battle. After its evolution, Ash and Sirfetch'd have gain more trust in each other as it became very loyal to him, thus making their friendship stronger than before.

Ash met Dracovish during his fifth trip in the Galar region where it was resurrected from some Galar fossils while on a research mission for Professor Cerise and the curator of the Museum of Science. After it was revived, Ash went to greet Dracovish but it ended up freaking him out when it tried to bite his head. However, Ash was able to get Dracovish to trust him as he bonded with it during their little adventure together and decided that it wanted to join him. After that, Ash caught it as the second Pokémon he caught in the Galar region as well as his fifth Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world. Ash and Dracovish seems to have become good friends with each other.

Before the night ended, Ash told Charizard that he only wanted to be good enough for it and reminded it how long they had been together, which it recollected on that day. Ash's actions along with his efforts help Charizard realized how badly it treated him as it recalled all the good times they've shared and that he never gave up on it. After that, Ash and Charizard relationship was put back on the right track and their bond for each other reminded unbroken from that point on.
+Ash had Charizard train with someone else to become stronger, but he had its caretaker bring it over from time to time to help him in his battles. When he saw how much it has grown during its training as he brought it over to show his friends during one of his journeys, Ash decided to have Charizard stay with him full-time again but left it at Professor Oak's lab, after his journey ended. However, Ash is happy to reunite with Charizard whenever he comes to visit his hometown.
+In ''[[Ash's Adventures of The Little Mermaid]]'', Charizard witnessed Ash's failed attempt to protect Ariel from Ursula and grew concerned for its trainer. With that, it immediately flew off to help Ash, Pikachu and their friends. Charizard manages to make it to the battlefield in a spectacular entrance when it blasts Ursula in the back with its Flamethrower as a sneak attack and quickly flies down to save Ash and Pikachu before they can hit the bottom of the whirlpool below. Soon, Charizard joined Ash and Pikachu in a decisive battle to the death with the monstrous sea witch as rain, thunder, and waves roar around them. Ursula looked like she gained the upper hand and was about to destroy Ariel with the trident. But before she could do so, Ash, Pikachu and Charizard prevent her from killing her and continued the battle. Thanks to the supportive help from Prince Eric, who skewered Ursula through the abdomen with the splintered bowsprit, Ash, Pikachu, and Charizard destroyed the wicked sea witch for good with the combined Flamethrower and Thunderbolt attack that morphed together into a golden dragon and eradicated her. The Pokémon's attacks as well as the ship that impaled her and the trident's power electrocuting her caused Ursula to collapse and sink into the ocean before finally being destroyed in a blinding explosion underwater. And so, with Ursula finally destroyed, all of the evil spells she had placed on her victims wore off and were changed back into merpeople. King Triton's spell also wore off and his royal status as king was restored, nullifying the contract permanently. Soon after, Ash, Pikachu, and Charizard are embraced by so many of their friends in victory of the battle's outcome. King Triton, seeing how much Ariel truly loves Eric, gives her legs back and allows her to marry him. Charizard then joins its trainer and his friends in attending Ariel and Eric's wedding, while also making its acquaintance with Ariel and her father for the first time.

Despite this, Ash does get along with Mr. Mime and does care about it. Also, Ash is happy that his mother has Mr. Mime in her life as she will never be lonely. Ash would even greet Mr. Mime when he returns home from his journey. When his mother had Mr. Mime stay at an institute to watch over him, Ash had Mimey help him in a tournament that he enters in which he was able to win thanks to its help.

However, Ash became surprised when Bayleef developed a crush on him and that she would get extremely jealous if any of his other Pokémon got his attention, in most cases, Pikachu.

After a while, Ash noticed that Bayleef, who's feelings were left hurt, ran away and went looking for her. With the help of his friends, Ash realized that his harsh words were the reason why Bayleef ran away from him. After finding her with a kind old woman that found her, Ash tried to get Bayleef to see how really sorry he was for hurting her feelings, but nothing worked. When she, Pikachu and the kind old woman's Pokémon were taken by Team Rocket, Ash rushed in to save them and that act got Bayleef to realized that he truly was sorry for hurting her feelings and forgave him. After everyone was saved, Ash was also given an apology from Bayleef as well when she realized that her tackles got him to lose her cool on her in the first place.

Once his second journey through Kanto ended, Ash left Donphan with Professor Oak once again, but he does still call on it for help in battles.

When she found a new ambition, Ash supported her and they bid each other farewell as they both knew they'll always be friends no matter where they go.

+Ash has know Boldore since it was a Roggenrola as he caught it and became his eighth Pokémon, he obtained in Unvoa. Ash has a good relationship with Boldore as its senses of hearing came in handing, during its time a Roggenrola. After evolving, Ash calls upon Boldore every now and then for battle or for other reasons. Ash had Boldore be sent to Professor Oak after his Unova journey concluded and was taking a detour back to Kanto. Although, Ash did reunite with Boldore when he made it back to Pallet Town and knows it will be waiting for his visit whenever one of his journey ends.

Seeing this and was about to leave, Ash offer Kroodkodile a spot on his team which he happily accepted making him the ninth and final Pokémon he caught in Unova. After that, Ash and Krookodile became very good friends. Ash had Krookodile be sent to Professor Oak but did call on his help to catch a Pokémon for his caretaker. After making it back to Kanto, Ash reunites with Krookodile and knows he'll be waiting for his visit when he comes back from his journeys.

After that, Ash ended up being followed by Meloetta and he would't meet it again until it was in the road while it was in a daze. Ash stays by Meloetta side until it got better but it ended up following him again. Seeing that Meloetta liked him, Ash let it stay with them and they became friends. When Team Rocket made their move in capturing it, Ash went to great lengths to protect Meloetta but it was forced to go with them as it ended up choosing his and Pikachu safety over its own when Team Rocket's boss, Giovanni, threaten to hurt them. Ash and Pikachu watch Meloetta being used for Team Rocket's plan, but they escaped from captivity then they were both able to rescue it. After stopping Team Rocket's plan, Ash bid his friend Meloetta farewell when it left with its friend, Ridley.

After evolving into his final stage of evolution, Ash and Greninja gained a special power through their bond, which is known as the "Bond Phenomenon" as it rivals the power of Mega Evolution.

When Squishy and Z-2 asked him for his help in defending Kalos, Ash decided to not only have Greninja go with them on their mission but to also keep him safe from danger, after Team Flare captured them and tried to use them for their plans. Before going their separate ways, Ash told Greninja that they'll always be connected with each other no matter what. They then they bid each other farewell.

When they return to Goodra's home, Ash told it to stay at its home so it can protect it from the danger of other invading Pokemon. Ash ended up visiting it later on and asked Goodra to join him in the Kalos League. After the League was over, Ash bid Goodra farewell and promised to always be friends till the end. But not before Emerl gives it a communicator so that way they will call it when they need it or if it needs them.

After hatching into a Noibat and had trouble flying, Ash offered to help with its learning. Ash then suggested in having it join him and his team, to which Noibat accepted as he didn't want to leave Ash while also learning about the sacrifice the mother Noivern made for him. When Noivern, (during its time as a Noibat), wanted to prove himself, Ash understood and didn't get in the way of his choice. After evolving, Ash was very proud of Noivern and was happy how strong he became. Ash left Noivern with Professor Oak once his journey through Kalos ended but knows he'll reunite with it whenever he comes home for a visit.

Ash's Lycanrock was a different type of Lycanroc from the rest. To be more specific, Ash's Rockruff evolved into a Dusk form Lycanroc. After evolving into Lycanroc, Ash began to notice that he doesn't like to get his fur dirty and gets mad really bad. Although Ash didn't take this as an issue at first but seeing that Lycanroc was ignoring his commands was when he realized that he needed to do something about it. Ash helped Lycanroc control his temper by reminding him of the bond they both share together. However, Ash had some doubts about Lycanroc controlling his red-eye-state as he kept telling him to calm down but realize he had it under control this whole time. Realizing this, Ash told Lycanroc how really sorry he was forever doubting him. Whenever he loses a battle as he takes them personally, Ash gives Lycanroc, even during his time as a Rockruff, encouragement and cheers him up. After deciding to resume his journey, Ash left Lycanroc under Professor Kukui's care, but he got the chance to say goodbye to him and Pikachu and know they'll see one another again.

After evolving into his final evolution, Ash was proud of Incineroar as he became a lot stronger in his ability. Ash left Incineroar with Professor Kukui when he decided to continue his journey, but he did said goodbye to him alongside Pikachu and knows they'll see each other again.

During Necrozma's attack on Alola, Nebby rushed to save Ash and his friends from the disguntled Prism Pokémon. However, when Necrozma took control of Nebby, Ash was determined to save his friend no matter what. Ash closeness to Nebby is shown when they used an exclusive Z-Move together. Before he left for a new journey, Ash got the chance to say goodbye to Nebby when it came to visit him.

However, Ash would see Naganadel again when it came through an Ultra Wormhole to help him but he didn't recognized it at first but when Pikachu showed him the Ultra Guardian pendent it had on it was when he realized that it was Poipole but it evolved. After it help him in the exhibition match against Professor Kukui and had a meal with everyone, Ash bid Naganadel farewell once again but knows they'll always be friends no matter where they are. But not before Emerl gives it a communicator so that way they will call it when they need it or if it needs them.

Despite their relationship, Ash sometimes gets annoyed when Melmetal will not listen to its command very much and eat any metal that it shouldn't be eating. Ash decided to leave Melmetal with Professor Kukui when he left to resume his journey, but it did say goodbye to him and Pikachu. Also, Ash knows he'll see Melmetal again.

After dealing with Team Rocket, Ash was asked by Dragonite if it can join his team as he accepts its request, making it the first Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world. Ash has a great relationship with Dragonite.

After that, Ash caught it as the second Pokémon he caught in the Galar region as well as his fifth Pokémon he caught in his journey around the world. Ash and Dracovish seems to have become good friends with each other.
