When Ash and his Alolan classmates first arrived in the world Spectrum to keep watch as global security, he was quick to befriend Scarlet whom he received most of his training to become a Spectrum officer (eventually becoming '''Captain Onyx''' in Series 2). The pair were killed and revived by the Mysterons in an effort to crash Skybase. They died again at the hands of Captain Blue whose gunshots sent them hurtling into an energy beam that broke the Mysterons' control over them, whilst also letting them retain their ability of retro-metabolism. When their friends, classmates, and Spectrum personal found it difficult to trust them (save for Colonel White, Destiny Angel and Doctor Gold), Ash found it easy to confide with Scarlet who kept him from spiralling into depression by reminding him his actions from their resurrection would speak louder than their words. In return in future episodes, Scarlet would find it easy to confide in Ash in scenarios where he ponders if being indestructible would have its own consequences for those around them.
