Ash formed a brotherly bond with Casper. When Ash first met Casper in Deedstown, he felt sorry for him since people were scared of him for being a ghost. Casper was surprised to see that Ash was not scared of him since he saw how friendly he is. Ash saw that what Casper really wanted he was a friend, and he told him that he could be his friend which made Casper feel happy. Casper is fond of Ash's Pikachu, so he pets him much to Pikachu's happiness. Pikachu would help Casper find Ash. Ash felt appalled when Casper's uncles the Ghostly Trio treated him like a slave and did not hesitate to defend him. Casper was impressed with Ash's bravery when he stood up to Brock Lee, Leon, Danny, Desmond Spellman, Josh Jackman, Carrigan, and Dibs. Casper let's Ash know about a mean girl named Amber who picks on Kat, and he praised Ash for telling off Amber and Vic. Ash enjoys flying with Casper in the sky. Ash felt entertained by and laughed at Casper's shapeshifting. Ash was saddened to learn that Casper died from pneumonia when he was out in the cold for too long. Ash felt surprised to learn that Casper's last name is Mcfadden. Ash kindly told Casper that it doesn't matter if he's a ghost or a human, and that what he is a true-blue friendly friend inside and out. Casper felt deeply touched by Ash's praise.
