Ash and Max have a strong brotherly bond. Ash first met Max in ''[[Ash's Adventures of A Goofy Movie]]'' after his failed attempt to impress his crush, Roxanne. After losing the semifinals while arguing with Max in ''[[Pooh and Ash's Adventures of An Extremely Goofy Movie]]'', he angrily snapped at Ash that he doesn't know his father which hurts him very much. Max somehow manages to make up for his behavior when he helped Ash and the group rescue Serena from Bradley Uppercrust III after she got kidnapped and held hostage at his fraternity house as part of Bowser's evil plans. Later on, at the final lap of X-Games, he then saved Ash before finishing the race. After Ash got hospitalized, Max felt remorseful for saying those hurtful things to him and his dad. In order to make things right, he visits the hospital to go apologize to him along with his other friends he grew close to. After singing the Powerline song during Ash's welcome back party, he'd knew Max never forgotten about their trip in Los Angeles. Max playfully asked Ash if thinks he's forgotten all about that and if he lost sense of humor while he playfully takes his hat off and tickling him which made him laugh.
