In ''[[Ash Ketchum Meets Balto II: Wolf Quest|Ash Ketchum meets Balto II: Wolf Quest]]'', Ash knew Aleu when she was a cute little puppy. He felt terrible that no human wanted to adopt her due to her wolf heritage. Aleu felt that Ash, along with his team, were the only human friends she's ever had. Throughout her journey, Ash told Aleu that her wolf heritage reminded him so much of her father and he gave her amazing tips on being a wise leader to a group. During a conflict with Niju, Ash defended her from the evil wolf that nearly made Nava's pack starve to death due to their lack of caribou. Ash felt deeply sad when he had to say good-bye to Aleu, but she reminded him that she would have never become the pack's new leader if it wasn't for him. She then told him that he did so much for her already, and that she didn’t need him anymore since she was going to be the pack's new leader. She even told him that he has his own clan to look after, which is his adventure team; they need him more than she does. Before leaving, she gave him one final hug and told him to take very good care of his team and that he’d always be in her heart.
