Ash formed a friendship with Simba. Simba acts as more of a father figure to Ash, and humbly address him as own son. Ash often rides on Simba's back. During Simba's conflict with Zira and the outlanders, he blindly banished Kovu out of rage while foolishly believing that he was involved with the recent attack on him. He also forbad his daughter, Kiara, from going out to find him in a misguided attempt to protect her. Because of that, Ash chastised Simba for his selfish actions and called him a total disgrace to the Pride Rock as well as to the pridelands. Later that night when he was on his own in the pridelands, Rafiki led Ash to Mufasa and he learned from him about how Scar's evil influence impacted everything and everyone including Simba. That's when Ash realized that Simba was trying to prevent Kiara from suffering the same experiences he went through as a cub, but that he’s doing it the wrong way. After learning that Simba's pride and Zira's pride were going to clash in a bloody war that would sever the Circle of Life for good, he raced back to the pridelands with Kiara and Kovu. Just when Simba and Zira were about to strike each other, Ash, Kiara, and Kovu stepped in between them and stopped them from fighting. Through the words of Ash and Kiara and Mufasa's presence, Simba finally snapped out of his anger and ended the feud once and for all. Zira refused to submit, and still wanted to kill Simba to fulfill Scar's wish. Luckily, Ash and Kiara prevented Zira from killing Simba and knocked her off the cliff. As they all fell further into the ravine, Simba dove down to assist them. Though Zira fell in the river and drowned, Simba managed to pull Kiara up while giving Ash a ride back up. Simba then reconciles with Ash, Kiara, and Kovu for his selfishness and promises to be a better, fairer, and wiser king from then on.
