Ash and Lillie are each other's best friend as they were also classmates at the Pokémon School. Ash was often there to cheer Lillie up whenever she was down and she would do the same for him. Like he would do for Max and Bonnie, Ash would go to great lengths to protect Lillie from danger and he got concerned for her safety. Ash was the biggest help for Lillie, as he never gave up on helping her get over her fear of touching Pokémon. Ash also helped Lillie and her brother save their mother from Ultra Space with the help of their other friends. Ash even helped Lillie perfect her Z-Moves as he gave her some advice on how it feels to use one, and although she didn't get it at first when she got it she did it. Ash and Lillie share a lot of things in common such as a strong love for Pokémon, excitement about going on an adventure or meeting new Pokémon, and a willingness to help others for various reasons. Ash and Lillie parted ways when he decided to continue his own journey while she left to go on a journey to find her long lost father with her family. Lillie thanked Ash for everything he did for her before the boat she was on went out further to sea. After Ash and Lillie reunited in the Galar Region since Lillie and her family found her dad "Mohn" and got his memory back from shiny Nihileho (who got Mohn's memories and before it Became Gladion's Pokémon). During heading back to the Alola Region Lillie tell her Dad about Ash how he help her to remember why she couldn't touch Pokémon, rescue her and Gladion's mum "Lusamine" from Nihileho in Ultra space and team up with Gladion, Solgaleo and Lunala to stop Necrozma and bring peace in the Alola Region. Mohn is amazed and impressed how Ash help his family  when he gone and lost his memory. Then during the welcome home party for Lillie and her family Mohn make a special announcement to say thanks for everyone for welcome him home in Alola Region but the most thanks of all is Ash who helped his family while he was gone in the Galar, even since Ash came to the Alola Region Ash give Mohn's family something before they looking for him, Ash give them "hope" and Ash is the light to them to come out the darkness, then Mohn ask Ash if he would do the honor him to become his family as "Godfather" because Ash help his family alot. Ash agree to be the Godfather to Lillie's family,  Lillie is surprised but happy that Ash agreed to become part of her family and since then both Ash's and Lillie's family just got bigger.
