Ash never heard of Trigon until Brock pointed out his involvement in Slade's unexpected revival. When Raven revealed that Trigon is her father, he was deeply shocked and began questioning how a monstrous demon like him be a father to one of his close friends. He learned from Starfire that many centuries ago, Trigon was once an evil inter-dimensional tyrant who used his powers to cross through time and space, wipe out many galaxies from existence, and slaughter billions of innocent lives by merely lifting a finger. And because of his cruel legacy, her people on Tamaran including Galfore and Blackfire feared him. He even learned from Raven that Trigon cruelly raped her mother, Arella, and manipulated her people in the disguise of a human in Azarath before she was born, which horrified him and his friends to an extent. When Raven surrendered her destiny to become the portal and allowed her evil father to enter earth and destroy it, he and the gang managed to survive Trigon's assault on the planet, thanks to Raven's power shielding them. After rescuing Raven from Trigon's devilish prison, Ash and the group decide to take the evil tyrant head on despite his massive strength, power, and size. Trigon somehow defeated them all, and just as he was about to kill his daughter and cut his family ties with her once and for all, Ash jumped in between and took the blast himself, preventing his friend from getting killed. He then berated Trigon for his lack of empathy towards his own family and criticized him for using Raven for his selfish ambitions. But despite Ash making an inspirational speech about families and willing of sacrificing himself for Raven, Trigon, being the impure-hearted villain he is, refuses to repent for his actions and continue to assault the gang. Raven was deeply touched with Ash's speech and the gang's will to protect her at the cost of their lives. And thanks to their efforts, it gave her the courage to finally step out of Trigon's shadow and destroy her evil father once and for all.
