Ash, along with Littlefoot and the rest of the team, didn't fully meet Hopper. But after witnessing how he and the grasshoppers antagonize a helpless ant colony, he and the team realized that he had been oppressing them by stealing their food for years. During the climax, the gang learned that Hopper plans on assassinating the ant queen after the colony finishes collecting the food. Flik and Littlefoot devises a plan to distract Hopper and the grasshoppers with a circus and rescue the queen so they can deploy the fake bird and begin a revolution. During the battle, Ash gave the evil grasshopper a major shock treatment with his Pikachu. After saving the queen, the colony and the island, Hopper met his well-deserved downfall when Flik tricks him into leading him to a bird's nest where he is devoured by baby birds.
