Ash has a deep hatred towards Captain Hook since he and his pirate crew wanted to kill Peter Pan, the Lost boys, and the Darling children. Ever since he foiled Hook's plan in ''Ash Ketchum Meets Peter Pan'', the evil pirate developed a heated grudge on Ash, considering him more of a greater threat than Peter is. However, the main problem Hook has with Ash is that he kept underestimating him no matter how hard he tries to destroy Peter Pan due to his sheer incompetence, oversized ego, and arrogance. In the sequel, ''Ash Ketchum and Peter Pan in Return to Neverland,'' Ash challenged Captain Hook to a one-on-one duel in order to save Peter and single-handedly won without his help. However, when Hook cheated his loss and snatched Jane in midair while celebrating with Peter, Ash was angered at the deranged pirate for not playing by the rules and gave him his well-deserved karma when Ash sliced off his hook, much to his agony and humiliation (but in the Ryan's Adventures version, after his lost and injured, Ash never sliced Hook's hook because it is made of metal). Then he and his team ultimately sent him and his crew packing, never to return and taunt Peter as well as all of Neverland ever again. After getting slashed in the shoulder by Hook's sharp hook, Ash says to Peter that he now gets why everybody called his nemesis Captain Hook, which made all of his friends laugh.
