Ash's Adventures of The Land Before Time/Transcript
Prologue: Ash and his friends meet Doc Brown/Time Travel to the Land of the Dinosaurs[edit | edit source]
(The film opens where Ash and his friends arrived at Hill Valley.)
- Brock: Hey, guys! Look! There's Hill Valley!
- Ash Ketchum: Great! That means we might get to see Doc Brown.
- Misty: Yeah, just like Pooh. Zordon gave us a mission to find the place called the Great Valley which means it exists in the time of dinosaurs.
- Ash Ketchum: Well good thing Professor Oak told us to go there to meet his old friend who can help us travel back in time.
- Brock: Well, we have to find some way to get to the Great Valley and this Doc Brown is the only person who can help us.
- Pikachu: Pika Pi!
- Ash Ketchum: The journey start right now Pikachu! Look out Doc Brown! We're on our way!
- Pikachu: Pikachu!
- Brock: (stops Ash.) Ash! We have to find out where he lives first!
- Ash Ketchum: Oh yeah, that's right. Then we'll just find out where he lives!
- Pikachu: Pika, Pika!
- Ash Ketchum: He does live around town, right?
(Everyone in disbelief.)
- Brock: Yes! But we just have to find his house! Come on.
(Later Ash and his friends walked around the neighborhood of Hill Valley. To find Emmett Brown's house.)
- Ash Ketchum: I wonder where Doc Brown's house is?
- Misty: Maybe we better ask somebody.
- Brock: The guidebook says it's a little bit of east from here. Shouldn't take that long to get there.
In the Time of Dinosaurs[edit | edit source]
Narrator: Once, upon this same Earth, beneath this same sun, long before you, before the ape and the elephant, as well, before the wolf, the bison, the whale, before the mammoth and the mastodon...was the time of the dinosaurs.
Triceratops: Come on!
Narrator: Now, the dinosaurs were of 2 kinds: some had flat teeth and ate the leaves of trees, and some had sharp teeth for eating meat, and they preyed upon the leaf-eaters. Then, it happened that the leaves began to die. The mighty beasts who appeared to rule earth were ruled, in truth, by the leaf. Desperate for food, some dinosaur herds stuck out toward the west, searching for their Great Valley, a land still lush and green. It was a journey toward life. It was a march of many dangers. Sharpteeth stalked the herds, waiting to seize any who strayed. The leaf-eaters stopped only to hatch their young.
Littlefoot Was Born[edit | edit source]
- [An egg hatches into a baby Saurolophus girl. Meanwhile, A Triceratops baby girl hatched.]
- Narrator: Some of the young seemed born without fear. [A thunderstorm suddenly breaks and Cera runs under her mother for protection. Elsewhere, in the swamp, an apatosaurus family eats lazily around their nest. There is a stretch of mud full of broken eggs, but one egg is still intact and unhatched. This egg begins to shake with life. When a hungry Ornithomimus lurks in.] Yet... even hatching could be dangerous. One herd had only a single baby; their last hope for the future. : And they called him... Littlefoot.
- Littlefoot's Mother: Here l am. (Littlefoot, uncertain about this strange creature, crawls away as his mother tries to nurture him. His mother eventually manages to lick the baby, cleaning off any yolk or leftover shells off its body. The baby enjoys this little bath and allows his mother to continue cleaning him, one lick having him tumble over. The baby licks back at his mother and grips her face in a hug of sorts as several creatures gather around their mother and her baby. Littlefoot gets afraid of the little creatures coming toward him and stumbles as it tries to get away)
- Littlefoot's Mother: Don't be frightened. Come out. (Littlefoot peers from behind his mother's foot just as the little creatures slowly approach Littlefoot. They are intrigued by this baby creature and look so happy to see such life coming from that egg. Littlefoot starts feeling tired and then his mother picks him up, the baby enjoying the view as he's carried onto his mother's back, as his grandparents gather to look at their grandson.)
- Narrator: All that remained of his herd was his mother, grandmother, and his grandfather. He knew them by sight, by scent, and by their love. He knew they would be together always. (Littlefoot settles himself onto his mother's back as he gets ready to sleep)
- Littlefoot's Mother: Now, you be careful, my Littlefoot. (His mother and his grandparents look proudly at Littlefoot, as the little dinosaur yawns on her back and nestles in for a nice rest)
- Littlefoot's Mother: Beautiful Littlefoot.
Ash and his Friends Arrived in the Land of Dinosaurs/Meeting Littlefoot/Threehorns Never Play with Longnecks[edit | edit source]
Ash Ketchum: (sees Littlefoot sleeping; gasps and whispers) Hey, Pikachu, check it out! A real baby Apatosaurus!
Pikachu: (amazed) Pikachu!
-
Littlefoot: (sleepily) That feels good, Mother. (begins to wake up but when he sees Ash for the first time, he immediately becomes scared; gasps) Ah! It's a monster!
-
Sharptooth/The Earthquake[edit | edit source]
-
Littlefoot and Cera: (falling while holding onto Sharptooth's tail) HELP!!!
Littlefoot: (o.c.) Mother!!!
-
Cera: Daddy! (nearly falls off a cliff; screams and safely runs back)
Narrator: In this time of the clash of continents, a great earthquake split the land. Herds were divided, families were cut in two. Littlefoot was separated from his grandparents.
(The massive earthquake finally stops, but some of the dinosaurs were killed during the horrific disaster. However, the remaining dinosaurs that survived are on the other side of the divide.)
Daddy Topps: Cera!
Cera: Mama! Daddy!
Narrator: Cera was on one side of the divide. Her parents were on the other.
-
Mama Longneck: Dear, sweet, Littlefoot, do you remember the way to the Great Valley?
Littlefoot: (sniffs) I guess so. But why do I have to know you're gonna be with me?
Mama Longneck: I'll be with you, even if you can't see me.
Littlefoot: What do you mean if I can't see? I can always see you.
Mama Longneck: Littlefoot, let you heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely. (dies)
Littlefoot: Mother? Mother?!
(But it's too late. Littlefoot's mother is dead. Not that far, Ash and Pikachu could only watch as Littlefoot breaks down crying over his mother's passing.)
Ash Ketchum: (sighs sadly and lowers his head while shedding tears)
Pikachu: (sheds tears) Pikachu...
On Their Own[edit | edit source]
Rooter: (grumpily) Hey! (sniffs) What's going on here? (noticed Littlefoot crying but is unmoved) What's your problem? You're not hurt.
Littlefoot: It's not fair. She should've known better. That was Sharptooth. It's all her fault.
Rooter: All whose fault?
Littlefoot: Mother's
Rooter: (softens his tone) Oh, I see. I see.
Littlefoot: Why I wandered so far from home?
Rooter: (gently) Oh, It's not your fault. It's not your mother's fault. Now, you pay attention to old Rooter.
Littlefoot: Yeah, but-
Rooter: It is nobody's fault. The great circle of life has begun. But you see, not all of us arrive together at the end.
Littlefoot: What'll I do? I miss her so much.
Rooter: And you always miss her. But she'll always be with you, as long as you remember the things she taught you. In a way, you'll never be apart, for you are still part of each other.
Littlefoot: My tummy hurts
Rooter: Well, that, too, should go in time, little fella. Only in time.
(Rooter snorts, turns and lumbers away, leaving the mournful little Littlefoot. Scene fades out to the next scene to the berry hanging from the branch of a tree. A baby Pterodactyl flies into frame and plucks the berry, losing his balance, and toppling backward onto a branch. Other baby Pterodactyls appear. They all become engaged in mischievous games of hide-and-seek and tag, jostling for control of the berry. In a lineup, the first Dac heads back into the hollow tree trunk, only to have the berry snatched from his hands by the Dac behind him, and so on, and so on, down to the last Dac in line, who was the original finder of the berry. We pan with the baby Dac as he wanders past the entrance to the hollow tree trunk, down onto the ground near Littlefoot yet feeling for him.)
Narrator: At first, Littlefoot could only think about his mother. He hardly noticed his hunger and forgot about the Great Valley and that he must somehow reach it.
(Seeing Littlefoot’s despair, the baby Dac, in sympathy, offers his treasured berry to the despondent dinosaur. He pushes it closer and closer, in an attempt to get Littlefoot to accept the gift. Littlefoot turns his head away and won't accept the berry)
- Ash Ketchum: (clears throat) Hello there.
- Littlefoot: Huh? (gasps and gets scared) Aah! (hides in the bushes)
- Ash Ketchum: Geez! I guess he's still scared of me, Pikachu.
- Pikachu: Pikachu.
- Ash Ketchum: He's probably never seen a human before. That could be the reason why he's so afraid of me. (to Littlefoot) Look, little guy. It's alright. I'm very friendly. And I won't hurt you. Will you please come out so that we can talk to you?
- Littlefoot: Just go away! I don't want you near me!
- Ash Ketchum: Why not?
- Littlefoot: Because I don't know who or what you are! And I don't know if I could trust you! In fact, I'm not even sure if you were gonna eat me the minute, I first saw you!
- Ash Ketchum: (whispers) Oh geez. I guess I have scared him, Pikachu. I must've not thought it through.
- Pikachu: Pikachu.
- Ash Ketchum: But he had just lost his mother and he needs someone to help him survive. How am I gonna gain his trust? (sees leaves that look like the tree stars that he eats) I got it! Pikachu, I think he might be hungry. (later, he lays some leaves in front of the bushes) Hey, little guy, I've got something for you to eat.
- Littlefoot: Hmm? (smells)
- Ash Ketchum: Nah, ah, ah, ah. You gotta come out first. (but Littlefoot snatches the leaves and eats them behind the bushes) Too bad you don't trust me. 'Cause I thought that, you know, you, me, my friends, and maybe some other dinosaurs who survived the earthquake might help you find your way to the Great Valley.
- Littlefoot: (gasps and bursts out of the bushes in surprise, whispering) He knows about the Great Valley?
- Ash Ketchum: Well, I guess you wouldn't be interested in that anyways. See ya. Come on, Pikachu, let's go find our friends. (winks at Pikachu to play along)
- Pikachu: Pika! (winks back)
- Ash Ketchum: (whistles for a bit until he feels a tug from his jacket; it turns out to be Littlefoot; chuckles) Well, that's much better. Now, for starters, my name's Ash Ketchum. And this is my little friend, Pikachu.
- Pikachu: Pikachu.
- Ash Ketchum: And how about you, what's your name, kid?
- Littlefoot: I'm Littlefoot. But how did you know about the Great Valley?
- Ash Ketchum: Well Pikachu and I overheard what your mother say about journey to the great Valley. Speaking of your mother, We're really sorry for what happened to your mother, Littlefoot. I bet she was braved to protect you and that little triceratops from that Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- Pikachu: (apologizes) Pika, pika.
Ducky[edit | edit source]
Petrie[edit | edit source]
Cera and Sharptooth[edit | edit source]
Spike[edit | edit source]
- Ducky: Hello? Hello? (the egg cracks; a dinosaur peaks out and hides back in) You should come out. You should. You are late. Yes, you are. Yep, yep, yep! (the dinosaur continues snoring; Ducky lifts the cracked shell off) Come out! You are all alone. Are you not scared? Huh? (the dinosaur yawns; Ducky helps it hatch by breaking away what's left of the shell) We're going to the Great Valley. You could go with us. Yes, you can. (the dinosaur reveals to be a baby stegosaurus) Uh, you are a spiketail. So, we will call you, "Spike". (giggles)
Going After Green Food[edit | edit source]
Sharptooth Returns[edit | edit source]
(Everyone got out of the footprint before Sharptooth steps on them which also destroys Littlefoot's special tree star from his mother.)
- Littlefoot: That way! Through the rocks!
(Cera arrives at the opening first and quickly slips between the boulders; the others follow closely behind.)
- Littlefoot: Don't look back! Keep going!
(Cera was in the lead, Spike followed close behind with Ducky and Petrie riding on his back, clutching on for dear life; and Littlefoot was quite a distance behind. Sharptooth pounces onto the ground sending Littlefoot flying and releasing his raging roar. Spike raced in, becoming wedged in the tunnel. Littlefoot tugged on him from the other side of the opening to help him through.)
- Brock: Help them get through! I'll keep him busy. Go, Steelix!
(Steelix materializes and rams into Sharptooth.
Troubles on the Way[edit | edit source]
Cera: This is your Great Valley?! You're crazy! I'm leaving!
Littlefoot: Cera, we have to keep following the bright circle.
Cera: I'm taking the easy way for one.
Littlefoot; (suddenly becomes angry) But it's the wrong way!
Cera: Who says?
Littlefoot: My mother!
Cera: Then she was a stupid longneck too.
Littlefoot; Take that back!
Cera: Never!
Littlefoot: (shouting) Take it back!
Cera: No!
The Wrong Way[edit | edit source]
Narrator: Cera was still too proud to admit that... she'd gone the wrong way.
Cera: (slumps and cries)
Ash Ketchum: (clears throat) Littlefoot, I think it's best if I'd go and talk to Cera alone.
LittleFoot: Huh? (grunts as he gets himself off of the tar) Are you sure?
Ash Ketchum: Mm-hmm.
-
-
Ash Ketchum: Brock, Misty, take Littlefoot and his other friends to a safe place away from predators. I'll go and speak with Cera.
Misty: Sure.
Brock: Alright.
Ash Ketchum: Let's go, Pikachu.
Pikachu: Pika.
(Cera looks at the reflection in the waterfall and continues crying.)
Ash Ketchum: (o.c.; clears throat) Cera?
Cera: Hmm? Oh, it's you. What do you want, weirdo?
Ash Ketchum: I want to ask you something. Why are you so uptight over other species of dinosaurs? What do you have against them that makes you look down upon them so much? I mean what are you so afraid of?
Cera: Me?! W-What are you talking about?! I'm not afraid of anything! I'm a threehorn! Threehorns don't get scared!
Ash Ketchum: Are you sure about that?
Cera: Yeah! Why'd you ask?!
Ash Ketchum: Well, for one thing, you did get scared when you and your friends were being chased by that gigantic Tyrannosaurus, uh, Sharptooth as you would prefer to call it. So, you might have something to be afraid of. And throughout this journey, you were all like, "Threehorns don't hang out with longnecks!" or "My father said that longnecks are nothing but flatheads with no brains!" and "I only talk to other threehorns and they're the only kind of dinosaurs I travel with!". But honestly, Cera, I think you're hiding something from us. And from the looks of how sad you're feeling, I don't think you wanna tell us. So, what is it? What is your problem?
Cera: (tries to hold back her insecurities, but reluctantly gives in as she sighs in frustration) Look,... I... (sighs) I wanted it to be me, okay? I wanted to be the first dinosaur who will lead the herd to the Great Valley. And I know that sounds a bit selfish and (chuckles) a bit immature, but ever since I was told by my parents about the story of the Great Valley, I wanted to be the one who will find it one day. It made me super excited. I was so desperate to make my father proud of me. Because I wanted to be strong, tough, and brave like he is. However, when I ran into Littlefoot on the day of the "earthshake", and showed me the tree star, it turned out that he knew more about the whereabouts of the Great Valley than me. And that made me so jealous of him.
Ash Ketchum: (sympathetic) Oh, Cera...
Cera: And because of him, the only thing I was afraid of was disappointing my father and failing him.
Ash Ketchum: ???
Misty: We're sorry about your loss Littlefoot. But don't worry we are going to get you to the Great Valley and back to your grandparents. I'm sure they're on their way right now.
